Got the voice mail on my cell phone saying suspicious activity on my SSN but had a person's name who I don't know.  I called the # from work and it said "thank you for calling service center", someone answers and says "may I help you".  Obviously a scam.

They don't hack into your PayDay Loan account, they ARE Payday loan. You've (moi) borrowed and paid back the amount plus interest but not the additional USURY (illegal) rates they charge. I got this call this morning but had threatened them a few days ago (called at 6:17 am) and said I was "officially notified." Threatening them won't help unless you talk to supervisors and attorneys there (though they are NOT on staff.) I choose to do nothing at this time (except letting my machine catch the call) because I'm not well and this is low priority. Doesn't mean I won't take legal action later:

"Generally speaking, courts in California will strike down as illegal and unenforceable in its entirety any loan agreement that calls for an interest rate to be paid above and beyond that which explicitly is permitted by the laws and regulations of the state."

Wow!  I received this call.  I made a major mistake four years ago and got some payday loans.  I applied for them online.  Which I will tell anyone DO NOT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO THIS!  It put your personal information and all your contact information for family and friends you use as a reference.  I am more mature now and I now am a good stewart over my money.  A company called me stating that I open a pay day loan in 2008 and that they were going to send me to jail if I didn't pay it back TODAY!  FIRST!  I did not open a payday loan in 2008 and the bank account they mentioned was closed in mid 2007. What?  I am in the credit business and I am full aware that these collection companies buy collection accounts for pennies and if they get 1.00 they have made a profit.  So I changed my voicemail to my business greeting.  "Thank you for calling customer service!  They hang up and do not call again.  And politely tell them that you are documenting everytime they call after telling them they have reached a business line.  See ya!  I don't mind paying my bills, but don't use the smoke screen and bully tactics to do it.

I was listening to my voice mail from yesterday's calls and it said the same suspicious activity on your account.?? So I call back today and a so called Ms Payton answered and was very rude from the first word crossed... I wanted to know where I was calling and she stats yelling her lungs off.. I told her I wasn't gonna verify any info because I have the right to know what company this was... So that made her more upset and threaten me with sending me a complaint with court papers and that she isn't need my info because she already have it... So I laughed and said so why are you calling.. She hung up so I called her back and she didn't want to pick up until she finally did and I asked her again what company is this? I she said PCS... I told her I wasn't aware of the company and she starts yelling again stating your tu same lady that just called? I I told her... Yeap the one you were super rude to... She continues to yell so i told her.. Don't get upset with people because you hate your job!!! She hung up.. My thing is if you had my info why didn't you call me by my name on the second call... **F R A U D** Important be careful. 800-219-4011 Ms Payton

I keep getting a recorded message from this number at my place of business.  I don't know who it is or what it is regarding but the message states that there is a fraud alert on my account associated with my SSN.  I have called them back before and they were rude and would not give me any contact information.  I told them to stop calling me at work but they continue.

They called my parents house at 8AM on Sunday morning. My Mom knows it's a scam but my father didn't and thought I was a victim of identity theft and that someone had hacked into my bank account. Today these jerks call my work phone over and over and left multiple messages. I called from my cell on my lunch hour . They tell me I owe $480 for some loan that I supposedly took out in 2007 and that I wrote them a fraudulent check 2 months ago!!! I didn't write anyone a bad check and I paid that lone off back in 2007. They probably tried to access my old bank account that has been closed for a few years.  I haven't written a check in over 5 years especially since there is online banking and Visa Debit Cards!!! I told him that I didn't know what he was talking about and he said: "Yes you do. Pay your Bills B#@ch!!!". WTF? Really? Your gonna cuss at me? Is that suppose to scare me in to paying you? Get a life and leave me alone. Scam Collection Agency.

On 4/28/2012 at 9am a lady named Mrs. Joyce Jacobs who claimed she work for the Service Center at 1-800-219-4011 and her direct number is 1-716-240-4665. She claimed that Cash Net is taking me to court. She claimed that she wanted to offer a settlement the a balance of $472.00, $472.50, and $379.00.

She seemed very nice and convincing. She wanted to set up payment arrangements and transferred me to a Mrs. Peyton for verification of prepaid debit that I already used to the other fraudulent companies. I called cash net and they said it was a third party involved but a fake debt collector.

Cash net gave me the company that has my account. The case number was very different from my Cash Net account. That's what really hit me.

Just to let you folks know, It's illegal for these people to keep calling and harrassing you and making threats of any kind let alone actually following through on what their threatening. They can be turned in to the federal trade commission and for each little threat that they make and it can cost them at least a $1,000.00 dollar fine for doing so not to mention the fact that you possibly could be compensated for them doing all this. I checked this out through an attorney because, I've been not only getting calls from these people for over a year but, also from other people with different phone no's making the same kind of threat's and other's. Other numbers to look out for are: 1-855-854-8537
Ext. 304 (seager, ross & mcguire) and (central asset bureau) Phone no. 210-892-1308. I don't know where all of you might be but, I'm in Texas and there is an attorney here in Texas that handles these
morons. I have other choice names for these people but, I can't mention them on here. If your in Texas then you can reach this attorney at: www.deanmalone.com and he should be able to fix you up. He can tell you about the Texas Debt Collection Act and for going through the Federal Trade Commission It's the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I received an identical call from 888-711-0171. They leave me about 2 messages a week, for over a month  now. I believe this is a phishing scam. I don't owe any debts, have never used pay day loans or any of the other forementioned companies. I have perfect credit and no money problems so I am sure this is not a debt collector, though I believe they are acting as such to try to get money, account numbers or social security numbers to commit fraud.

I reported them to the Federal Trade Commission (ftc.com) and suggest everyone else do the same.

Isn't there some federal offense for telling of a bad social security number and reporting illegal activity on it?

I think they are just harvesting phone numbers from people who actually answer their call. Be prepared for a lot more calls at all hours and days of the week.

Yep, I just got a voice mail from this number saying there was suspicious activity on an account associated with my social security number.  If it was a collection agency, why didn't they just have the balls to state their business, rather then being shady? These kinds of businesses are the lowest of the low. I know of no account that is in collections, so this must be some sort of scam.

Got a call saying there has been suspicious activity reported regarding my social security number.  This is an obvious scam to phish for personal info, or a debt collector attempting to verify identity. Either way, best to not give these people ANY information and tell them to stop calling!
