SOOO I don't know where you guys are actually booking your rooms (that is, you may not have actually been on the sites you thought you were), but I checked hotelplanner.com out of curiosity and on the booking/payment screen it clearly states:

Payment Information
To secure your reservation, your credit card will be charged immediately for the total amount of your reservation. This secures the low price and ensures you have a room

It is RIGHT ABOVE the payment entry. No way you can miss this if you are on the right site and actually read the page. Anyone here can check my work by going to their site, selecting hotel/dates and click the book button.

As far as hotels.com.... IT IS EXPEDIA.COM. hotels.com/expedia.com/travelocity.com  = Same company. And there are many more. I used to work for them. I don't want to promote them or give them a recommendation or anything, but the misinformation on this page is so startlingly rampant I just had to clear the air.

If you went to HOTEL.COM (minus the "S"), a company that expedia does NOT own and booked a room their I really don't see the complaint with expedia.

Sounds like a bunch of confused people upset at for the wrong reasons.

I was charged also for services I did not receive or ask for. It has been taken off my CC but with this many compalints against the same company, I would think the BBB would be looking into this company and shutting them down. We always check our CC statements cause we find more than we should on our card of companies just charging our card for services we never had heard of before.

I just had the same thing happen. Two Hotels.com charges were posted to my Debit card and I've never had dealing with them. I can't even afford to travel. My bank refunded me and is investigating.

Just received my credit card statement and also booked a recent hotel stay through CHEAPOAIR.  Saw a charge on there associated with this 800 number which when called was a "unworking " number.  Called my credit card company because I have no clue what this charge was for.  Recently had MAJOR problems with CHEAPOAIR & their website.  WILL NOT be using them EVER again.

I questioned a charge from TRAVRES at this number on my credit card since I didn't recognize the vendor.  It turned out to be an extra event I added when booking on Hotwire.  So, for me, not a fraud event.

they charged my card for $1740 while I have never used them ever. This came to me as a big surprise as I have sms alert for all transactions on my CC. I immediately called my bank and reported this and got a new card.

I booked for 1 night, got charged for 2 night at a Hilton near my daughter.  I have stayed in this hotel before with no problems.  After I booked I was sent a message on my phone that said I had booked for 2 nights and I was charge $230 + dollars.  I tried to ge this corrected and all operators were busy or computers were down on and on and on.  After 1.5 hours en route to the hotel I tried to fix it at the hotel.  They told me not to worry to just fix it in the morning.  In the morning when I checked out after a 1 night stay they refused to give me a receipt for my 1 night bookings.  Still having been charged for two I cannot beleive nothing is being done with this booking company.

They somehow got our credit card number and charged $350.88 to our card.  We have never used hotels.com and have no idea how they got our info.  When I called them they wouldn't even tell me what the charge is for.  I filed a dispute with my credit card company and am filing fraud charges against them with the FCC.  Total scam!

I too had them charge us when I had made the reservations through Travelocity.com and this companies name was on the bill, we have yet to be reimbursed and I am just very angry about it all, I will never use Travelocity again.  I had called the above number and spoke to Henry who assured me a refund was forthcoming.  Ha

Just booked a flight through KAYAK (I think) and received an additional charge (in addition to the $150 for the tickets) for $110 from "TSP EAN"... I believe it is the same company everyone else is complaining about. I am waiting for the charge to go from "pending" to actual with my credit card company and then will dispute. Will try to call KAYAK as well, I guess. Somehow a 3rd party is able to access your credit card information and charge you with an additional cost without your knowledge? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. How can this be allowed to happen?

Does anyone have any updates as far as legal actions go?  This company frauded my grandmother out of $1600 for a reservation that she thought she booked with the Double Tree hotel in Charleston, SC and then canceled within the appropriate time frame.  AMEX can do nothing for me and I am left trying to deal with this scam.  Thanks for your help.

In July I called what I thought was Hampton Inn and made a reservation for a hotel in Indiana in October 2012 - I was told that nothing would be charged to my card and I could change my reservation  up to 1 day prior to arrival with no fees. And that I would receive an email confirmation the next day.   I then found a charge on my credit card for over 3x the amount of the room!  The number on my CC bill for this transaction was  877-288-5585  TSP reservation Count = when I called that number there is NO PERSON to speak to, no such website to go to and no way to resolve this issue.  **I never received the email confirmation either and the Hampton Inn has NO RECORD of my reservation.   ** I should have followed my gut instinct which told me that I was obviously dealing with "Peggy in Pakistan" when I made this call.

Absolutely misleading and a rip off.  Charged way more than the room at the Hampton Inn quoted and more than I thought I paid until I received my bill.  Bad, Bad, Bad!!!

Event Reminder
I could not quite understand the message that was left but it was something about confirming my reservations with an IMAX showing.  I have checked both my bank account and credit card and so far neither show any charge.  I did book a hotel room with hotel.com and it was charged to my credit card and I did get a letter of confirmation.  After reading the comments I will call the hotel and make sure that I do have a reservation.  I did try and call back the above number to get the message replayed but no luck.  I will definately keep a close eye on my accounts.

DItto with all the messages posted.  They just scammed me for $2700.00 as I thought I was speaking with the Curtis Hotel in Denver, Colorado directly.  They, too, said the same thing....I was talking to the hotel directly and not a third party.  My credit card company, Capitol One, has been great in trying to handle this for me.

I gave my mom my credit card to book our room for next weekend & she spoke with AAA who provided her with the phone number to book our room reservation apparently directly with the hotel. When my mother called she was advised that she was speaking directly with the hotel and tried to confirm a few more times and each time was told she was talking directly to the hotel reservation line. I saw charges from TSP on my account in the amount of $256.24 & I was suspicious because I was originally told by the hotel what the price would be & that I would only be charged the first night so I knew something wasn't right. I called the hotel directly just to verify my reservation & they couldn't locate it. I also talked to my bank & they couldn't do anything until the charges went through my acct & not showing pending but they gave me a phone # associated with the charges but when I called it didnt name the company or allow me to speak with anyone. At that point I started researching it and good thing i found this site which had the 800# to reach a live person & I canceled the reservation now it's a waiting game to see if the $ is going to b refunded.

I also got "bit."  I am hoping every one who has experienced these problems with file a complaint the the FTC Consumer Protection Agency.  This company needs to be put out of business.

Those responding who had no problems, probably did not try to cancel their reservation.

Same thing just happened to me.  Disputing charges with my credit card company.  Had a bad feeling when they said their computers were down so couldn't input my Marriott acct #.  I asked them directly if they were with Marriott and they said yes, central reservations.  All credit card companies and hotels need to stop paying and taking reservations from these guys.  Need to shut them down.

I had a very similar experience. I spoke with a woman who identified as an employee of holiday inn when I wanted to book a reservation at a Philadelphia holiday inn. I was told I would receive a confirmation email and d I never received the email. Then when I spoke to both these hotels and there was no record of my reservation in their system. Then the next morning there was a charge from TSP Travel for a room I didn't even stay in or actually have reserved for as I was led to believe by the woman on the phone. My credo card company is now disputing the charge. This company is a scam!!

Received a suspicious charge on my credit card from TSP Travel. I called them to inquire. A man who identified himself as " Dean " took my call. He was very sarcastic, and asked for my email address. He said he had it, and he wanted to confirm it with me. I refused, said I was suspicious about the company, and asked to speak with his supervisor. He refused. I asked him to send me an email to verify he had my email address, and he refused. I asked him about this suspicious charge, and he refused to answer any questions unless I gave him my email. After I refused, he laughed and said if I didnt like the charge I could call my credit card company and cancel the charge. This is obviously a credit card scam....
