This number has been used for a few years and everybody from myself who doesn't use ATT to the state and federal government have been informed and know all to well its a scam and guess what?? We still get the same call from the same f****ng curry cowboy scumbags from Mumbai (Bombay) as always let's take care of Americans first and stick it up the scammers a** with an extra twist!

This may be an AT&T collection agency, or a scam spoof caller.  They do not leave messages, and are entirely automated.  Their procedure is to intimidate recipients into paying bills that they do not owe.  It works for many elderly people.  They also try to collect from people who have never had AT&T accounts, and for phone numbers they have never had. Whether it is really AT&T or a spoof caller, I do not know.

I got a charge on my bank account as  PREAUTH ATT* SERVICE 800-222-0300 NJ ATT* SERVICE for $1.
I just got off the phone with ATT and they said this is fraud, and it's being investigated because of all the complaints. I was asked to fax the info above to the fraud team over there. I don't have ATT, never have....please everyone be aware that this is NOT AT&T.  It is however the correct phone number, but whoever the scammers are, they're using ATT as their front. If they call don't give them any info, and if they make charges on your bank account, tell your bank right away so no other charges are made.

Also had this number on my bank account with "POS DEBIT ATT* SERVICES 1-800-222-0300 NJ" Called the bank, they told me to call ATT, Called ATT (Both the 1-800-222-0300 number and 611), they told me to call the bank cause they didn't make a charge. Called the bank, and the card number used wasn't the number I use. Asked them about it, and they said the card was made a year ago and mailed to Riverdale, GA (I used to live in Georgia, but not Riverdale). I don't think there has been any other charges made with that card, I wonder why they waited a year to do so.

I got a call on 28.7.12 at 0800hr from this number. There was only silence. I called AT&T to complain and ask why they had to call so early, they said they will call early to wake people up so they can make their pitch to them and keep calling back in hopes you will buy from them. At least truthful in their reply yet total greed in their way of doing it. They would not answer why and how harassing people will generate business.

repeated calls from 800-222-0300 sometimes 3 a day, Saturdays as early as 8 AM.  Recording claims to be AT&T and starts out saying that this is not a sales call, it is about my service.  There is no reason AT&T should be calling me let alone this many times a day, no issues with my service or my bill.  I wish AT&T, being the telephone company, would track down the source and pull the plug on their phone lines.

Apparently this IS part of AT&T, because the number is listed on their website.  BUT it is also the source of robocalls.  They start with us at 8am, and frequently nobody is there, or we get a recorded message that they need to talk with me (using my correct name), and please call them back.  I like to sleep in a bit on Saturday, but today they called at 8am and again a little later.  Third call came at lunch time; when I didn't answer, they did leave a message to call AT&T,

Recipients of these phone calls will continued to be bothered by the calling party unless we collectively file complaints with the Federal Communications Commission, at www.fcc.gov

Click on "Take Action" in the top browser bar.

Then click on "Complain."

Finally, click on the method of contacting you, any messages made over the telephone directed to you, any billing charges such as those described above, etc.  The FCC will investigate and can fine the originator up to $10,000 per call.

Only by a collective effort by those concerned will we be able to rid ourselves of these crooks' calls.

found this as a result of a 1.00 charge to my debt card on several occasions. It's been a year since we had and account with the real AT&T. my statement said "ATT* SERVICE 800-222-0300 NJ US"

1. Our AT&T account was not attached to my debt card or my name
2. AT&T's corporate office is in TX and we don't live in or even in the same time zone as NJ, the office we dealt with was in a different state.

somehow these scammers are aquiring people's account information and charging 1.00 at a time to hopefully go unnoticed.

My brother (who is on my AT&T account) called me today to let me know he got a letter from "AT&T", similar to those described in earlier posts. The letter referenced changes that he never attempted to make and requested 2 forms of identification be mailed to them "for verification". It directed him to call 1-800-222-0300 with questions. Don't mean to be repetitive, but this is clearly a scam.

FWIW, I started getting these calls regarding an existing account stating that I was overdue by a specific, accurate amount. Reverse look-up does seem to show it registered to AT&T. However, AT&T lists this number as "Ordering" on their Government Support pages, http://www.corp.att.com/gov/care/

I do not have any government accounts and I certainly would not use my home phone number as a contact number for such an account.

I suspect that the caller is spoofing the caller ID, so I ignored the option to "Press 4 to pay this amount immediately" and went directly to the appropriate Web site to pay up. The calls have continued for several days following my _confirmed_ payment.

I NEVER choose to give out personal information or make a payment over the phone from an incoming call - and I don't call back numbers provided in such calls. I will be blocking this caller ID.

Yes, I agree with you that if it is ATT then they should state a legit name on the caller ID. I do know that we do not owe money to a company called 'unknown' using 'scammer tactics'!! We do have some phone service with ATT though and so I will need to check the bill pile. Thanx for the heads up.

The company calling you might not be legit and might not be ATT. However, they might be contracted by ATT to call you.  If you have outstanding bills to ATT then this company might try to collect on the bills for ATT. It can be frustrating when the phone shows 'unknown' because of all the real scammers out there and the companies should avoid showing that company name. Being in the telephone business, they should be aware of the issues concerning scammers and phone calls and not perpetuate it. Such behavior makes the legit companies complicit with the scammers.I'm sure you don't mean harm to legit companies wondering on the whereabouts of their legit payment, but check over the records above and note that ATT is behind it and give them a call.

This company says that we owe money and we don't have any accounts with them. They give the option to enter credit card info over the phone. This is definitely a scam. Jersey people know how to handle this ... not too much trouble to track them down in their holes and under rocks ... As the famous zipzapper has said in other 800notes posting, people out there know where these criminals hide and should tar and feather them and run them out of town ... send them to prison with the other ilk of their kind and let's see how these scammers enjoy playing with boyfriend Bubba as he extracts a real arm and leg from these guys.  I've seen plenty of legal procedings against this type of crimianl organization as a result of the 800notes heightening awareness.

I just found this thread as a result of a Google search for the same number.  There's a $1 charge pending against my business checking account (haven't used the debit card in months)... and I don't deal with ATT either.  Did you ever find out what it was for?

This is ridiculous...I get calls from this number non stop...early in the morning, all day long and even Sundays. They say I owe them money, but when I try to call them back, their outsourced employee gives me no chance to speak and they hang up on me. I have no intention of paying a bill on word alone, I want an itemized statement from AT & T showing the charges and what they were for. I've instructed everyone who calls me collect never to use them because they are thieves and I won't accept collect calls if it is one of their operators. THIS IS HARASSMENT.

800-222-0300 At & T calls constantly early morning and throughout the day and even on Sunday regarding an account that has been linked to my home phone. I have tried several times to call the number they give to straighten this out and was actually able to speak  to someone from other countries twice. I've explained to them what is going on,they just keep connecting me to someone else to explain the problem to until eventually they cut me off before I supposedly can get to the one in charge. This is total harassment and I can't get it to stop. I do not know this person who used my phone number. I  had problems with a cell phone many years ago with my teenage son and it was an At & T and I told them right then and there I would never have anything to do with them again. In fact my children have been instructed if they are making a collect call to me, they are to ask for an operator other than one from At & T. I am the only one who lives in my residence and don't know how and why this happened...I'm very careful with my identity!

This phone number was attached to a $1 charge on my credit card, and I'd never heard of them  before.  A few hours later, my bank stopped a $300 charge from a different website I'd also never heard of before.  It seems the $1 ATT charge is attached to identity theft, maybe at a 'test' charge to see if my stolen card number is working.  The bank let the $1 charge go through, but the card has been flagged and now I have to get another.

I have also received a phone call from this number, 800-222-0300. It was after a valid collect call had been placed to my home. The woman had very specific information about the time/date and name of the person who had made the collect call so I suspect a security breach with AT&T.

Beware! Do not give them any private information. My telephone service provider assured me that the collect call would be billed on my regular phone bill...the lady insisted that we had to be billed for the collect call and wanted to send me a bill. I have since received several phone calls from them saying that changes had been made to my account. I don't have AT&T service.

In addition, you should be able to have this number blocked from your phone so you aren't bothered by repeated calls.
