Debt Collector
800-222-1442 is a collection dept for a billing company for Anesthesia Service. The problem being that they don't send all their changes in one bill, and the insurance company feels like they are being double billed by mistake. This company is not sending it out and itemizing it's charges so those at insurance companies will pay attention to it. After they pay one charge, they feel this billing/collection company is double billing them so they don't pay attention. UNITED ANESTHESIA SERVICE needs to update and make their billing easier to understand by both insurance companies and patients. They make themselves look like a scam due to the name that appears on caller ID. It should read - UNITED ANESTHESIA SERVICE, buyt it currently reads - 800 Service which makes it appear as a scam call

think about it....there simply may be patients who are in pain and on meds and are out of it, that transpose some numbers while providing their phone number to the hospital. The are about to have surgery after all. I had to have my husband fill out my paperwork. I was in so much pain, I could barely remember my name at the time.
OR, because, these days, selling phone numbers is so popular, and the patient already feels vulnerable, purposely gives the wrong phone number thinking they are protecting them selves from possible annoying solicitors while they already feel terrible enough to need surgery......just some thoughts.  you all don't have to get so animated and angry at each other in these posts.

I did have surgery and I did receive a bill from anesthesiologist with all my hospital info on. I was still recovering and didn't pay the bill immediately. I received a call 6 weeks after my surgery urging me to pay my bill, so I did. now that I see these posts, I'm going to call around and I'll post back what I find. I paid $350 to ANESTHESIA RESOURCES.

Well Martha, I would say George is right.  You come on this board assuming well all know who's calling.  this number just call me with a + in front of it explain that with your vast knowledge.  We get enough scams, if this company doesn't want people guessing I guess they should upgrade their systems to match the world. who care if you do billing, I am a bookkeeper does that make it better.

These people called me three times before I called them back.  I had to wade through a ridiculously long list of button pushing prompts and classical music on hold, but I finally spoke to a representative.  They said they were trying to reach someone [NOT MY NAME] and I told them they had the wrong number,  and that I expected it to be removed from their call list immediately.  When I got another call a couple of hours later, I called them back.  When I got the representative, I 1. informed her that the conversation was being recorded, and 2. asked for her full name.  She said "I can't give you my full name, but you can call me Rachel M."  I said, "Well, 'Rachel M.', I called and spoke to you earlier and you said you had removed my number from your call list.  I'm calling you back because I received another automated call, and to inform you that your company is in violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  I want to be transferred to your manager or supervisor immediately."  She tried to mess with me and stall for a little while, so I just slowly got more and more annoying and hostile, until I just said, "Ma'am, I expect you to put me on hold, for you to find a supervisor for me to speak to, even if you have to get up and physically get him or her yourself, and I expect not to speak to you again.  Do you understand me?"
Then I got a gentleman by the name of "Gavin C." on the phone.  I asked for his name and position and told him that the conversation was being recorded.  I explained to him who I was, that I did not owe their company any money, and that I expected not to receive calls from them any more.  He gave me most of the same crap she did, but added a bunch of apologies, and said that my number had been deleted from the system and that he would send an urgent message for them to delete it from the auto-call system as well.  Now, this all happened today, so I don't know whether it was effective or not, and maybe I was a bit overly-hostile, but 1. I feel justified, because they've been repeatedly calling me when I owe them no money, and 2. if they call back, I'm going to threaten litigation, due to their violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  For those who don't know about that law, look it up on Wikipedia. It can really, really help you when it comes to debt collectors. There are all sorts of things they can't do, like call your job, talk to third parties (such as neighbors or family members other than your spouse), call you repeatedly or late at night, etc?  Anyway, look it up; I hope it helps someone.

I have been dealing with this company since August. They don't have a clue what they're doing.  I have contacted them no less than 7 times in the last 4 months. I have emailed them a copy of my EOB showing that I owe $0.00. I have been assured by two different CS reps that my account is under review and to not worry abou it, yet they sent my account to collections in November.  Don't deal with Customer Service, they will give you the run-around and don't know what they are doing.  In my effort to contact Mary (her name was mentioned earlier in the thread), I spoke to another lady who reassured me that she took my account out of collections.  I have my doubts and will be contacting them daily until they can prove to me that they've finally done their jobs.

Btw, it is not a scam, they just don't know what they're doing.  http://www.anesthesiallc.com/about-abc

These buggers are still doing this.

I had surgery in the middle of September.  I have Medicare and a supplemental from the company I retired from.  It takes anywhere from 2-4 months after any medical service is provided for us to get a final bill.

My wife and I both are retired from working with or in the health care.  We would never $crew anyone with legit bills.

However, I will not ever pay any medical bill until after we get the final bill.

Then, I pay it within a week after receiving it with a check set up by my computer from our bank acct..  No bill is kept unpaid for more than a week, often less time.

Yesterday, we got 7 calls from these bozos and 3 this morning.

We never answer any 800 calls.

My final total unpaid bill which they should have the check by now was less than $30.

My way of handling creeps like this is to call forward any calls from their number to our local DA's office which monitors and handles on line scams.

I have received 4 calls from this number in the last 2 hours, but never before up to this date.  No message was left.  I had surgery about 6 weeks ago and just received my bill for anesthesia in the mail.  No way I am overdue yet.  Glad to see other people posting about this, because now I won't ever answer the call.

Obviously you are the scammer who is trying to convince those annoyed by these calls that it is legitimate so we will agree to be scammed and pay a bill we did not make.  The lady's voice on the recorded message does not give her name, does not give a doctor's name, does not state the name of the person she is calling (you), does not give date or place of service, etc.  In other words the message is generic for anyone who is stupid enough to press the 1 key and give their credit card number to pay bill.

I do have an unpaid anesthesia bill and have gotten 3 calls from this number today. They never leave a message.

Even if it is valid, I would never give my credit card number to a company that calls me. If you want me to pay my bill, give me the information of who I owe the bill to, and I will pay them directly if I agree with the information. I suggest never giving your information to a number that calls you even if you think it's valid. There's no way of knowing.

For the first time, I received 4 calls from this number within 4 hours today.   I did not answer the phone the first time as the caller was unknown.  I also did not answer the phone the other 3 times because a legit caller would be intelligent enough to leave a message for the call and then make better use of their time rather than calling one number multiple times in such a short period.  For me, this kind of behavior is an immediate RED FLAG that someone is trying to SCAM me again.  Yes, again.  I had a similar situation several months ago involving 4 numbers that repeatedly called me.  I did not answer any of them, but I dropped my phone when I tried to silence the ring and it accidentally answered.  I quick tried to hang up, but they found out I WAS A REAL PERSON WITH THE NUMBER THEY CALLED.  That's what they want.  They left a voice message the very next call stating they were from my local newspaper and to please call about my subscription.  I checked the number left and it was my local newspaper, but there was no reason for the paper to call me as I was not a subscriber.  I reported the numbers to several agencies (SEE INFO BELOW TO REPORT) and also called Verizon to block these numbers.  Verizon advised that many of these calls are actually made out of the US but programed to show a "normal" toll-free number within US.  Once they know YOUR number is legit, they will try to use it via disguise as an international calling card number, which you may not detect on your phone bill for a couple months.  Then they move on to trap the next innocent person.  So, to Steve-in-PA, perhaps that may be why your caller is shown as "international".    I can say that I've had a quiet few months until this afternoon.  So I'm on to reporting this next one for me.  Good luck to all and please be careful.  And thanks to all for your comments to this website, which can only help all of us.  Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

atually i did receive stuff in the mail for surgery on my kidney stones. its a $135 bill for anesthesia with this phone number on the paper. the bill has my eurologists name and contact info. Very fishy that they could not give specifics though that does raise a red flag or were you sitting on the phone screaming at them and not letting them explain whats going on is my only question? The right thing to do is exatly this: call your doctor and and the hospital and start asking questions to confirm it because if your getting these calls it WILL affect your credit.

P.S. You sound very ignorant "B***s***.  It is a scam, and for you to say it isn't proves you are part of it."

This is a scam. I keep getting calls from them, I used to answer their phone calls occasionally, but they are never able to provide any proof I owe any money. They claim to be calling ?from my doctor?s office? however they are unable to give me:
The name of the doctor?s office.
The name of the doctor.
The date(s) of when any visit or procedure occurred.
When they sent me a bill.
When the ?doctor?s office? sent me a bill.
When they sent me a copy of the contract with my insurance company which allows them to balance bill (required by law in my state).
Proof they are licensed/bonded/insured/registered/etc to do business in their state.
Proof they are licensed/bonded/insured/registered/etc to do business in my state.
Proof they are licensed/bonded/insured/registered/etc to collect debt in their state.
Proof they are licensed/bonded/insured/registered/etc to collect debt in my state.
Any proof they are a legitimate company.
Any actual proof I owe anyone money, other than ?because we say you do?.
When they can?t prove you owe them money, don?t pay them. Contact your state attorney general and the police if they keep calling. They won?t prove to me that I actually owe them anything, and they won?t prove to anyone else that I actually owe them  anything either.

I just started getting calls from this number.  So far today they have called me every 18 minutes since 11:00 this morning.

Glad I looked this site up.  All of our medical bills are paid and we know we have no outstanding medical bills.  I have not answered any of the phone calls.

Guess we will have to file a complaint or block this number.

Good luck to all of those out there who are wrongly getting calls from these leeches.

Pulled up my daughter's bill - she broke her ankle on 11/18 - bill is dated 11/23, it's barely been 30 days.  Went to the email's customer service website - AnesthesiaLLC.com, and when you go to the payment area, there's the number, right there.  800-222-1442.  Strange the Caller ID says "international", not strange they call every hour, almost to the minute.  4:14PM, 5:16PM, 6:20PM.  At what point does this constitute harassment?  Normally you get 90 days before the bill is passed along to collectors, this one's not even past due.
