I received an recorded call 1st from 800-224-1002, something about selling web advertising on Google and Yelp.  When a live person came on line, I hung up.  That person called me back, asked for me by name, from the above number.  He would never tell me what he wanted.  I think he was just mad I'd hung up on him.  I told him I was busy prepping for lunch, he wouldn't stop blah blah blah, so I hung up again.  I am on the Do Not Call Registry.

Same as (nearly) everyone else. Very convincing (apparently) recording of some guy saying he's from Data Services regarding advertising on Google and that a couple of spaces were opening for our "industry" and that it was a "rare opportunity" but that the spaces had to be filled "today."  Like I haven't heard THAT kind of line before.  Not realizing it was a recording, I started to tell him we're not interested because...  But, of course, the voice kept droning on. So I disconnected.  Idiots.  Do those high pressure, obvious tactics actually work on some people??

Still wasn't as bad as an earlier call we got from a name & number unknown. Some guy with a twangy accent asked for "David" (the boss.)  I asked, "Who's calling?"  He hung up.  Okay, THAT will get you a lot of business.  

Is it me or are these salespeople and scam artists actually getting dumber and less competent?

do***ebags called me @ 8:30 Pm on a Sunday night. Didn't answer, voicemail says something about spot on google. I hope one day to meet one of these do***ebags so I can beat the living crap out of them

No message. I answered it, but there was only silence. However I hung up after a few seconds.

The company's name is local lighthouse. they are a Data service  provider, yahoo, google & bing.  This is the second time I have told them not to call me. (I have been documenting it all). I am now filing a compliant with the FCC and the Attorney General for harassment.  Also, I will never use yahoo, google or bing because of this and they should be held accountable for the harassment as well.

I agree and that is why I no longer bother answering calls I don't recognize. Heck I even leave my answering machine on 24/7 and most of the time the cretins don't bother to leave a message. I won't give them the satisfaction of knowing that my number is live. I won't answer only to be told to press 1 or 2 because it only lets them know that your number is live and ripe for the picking.

See the posts above.  Ditto.  Mine was a recorded message, "Press 1 for more info, press 2 to be removed from the list."  I don't press 1 or 2.  Pressing either just puts you onto a "live - active number" list that gets sold to other solicitors/scammers.

BEWARE of PHONY AD SALES!  When they said they had a unique opportunity today for premium web listings on Google, Yahoo, and Bing, it sounded fishy right away. When I politely asked, "What is your phone number, please?", they hung up. DON'T GIVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY.

"John Pierson" with Google offering to raise my businesses Google ranking on Google, Yahoo and Bing but he hung up before I could get my credit card so I could give him the number, and then kick him in the nuts! Such bullshi- ! If I have a moment I may answer the next time "he" calls and cut loose on his sorry a**!

The caller ID showed 800 224 1002 but the automated voice message for google ad placement gave the number 800 229 2690.

"Robert" selling ad space for Google, Yahoo, and Bing. The message was a robocall but didn't sound like one at first, so I ended up listening to the whole thing. Pressed 2 to be removed, but I doubt it'll work.

If you think this is a good idea, ask yourself this: why would three competing companies contract at the same time to the same person or organization to shill for all three at once? Would McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC do that?

Call blocking phones are very inexpensive $40-$60 and they come with, at least, one wireless handset.  Very, very convenient.

Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones.  They?re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd wireless handset.  COSTCO & AMAZON SELL THEM.  
They work beautifully!  These phones also block ?PRIVATE?, ?OUT OF AREA? and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!
I have had the same home number and the same business phone number for over 15 years and my home and my business lines (both published) seem to be on every call list imaginable.  I bought a Panasonic call blocking phone for my home and I bought a Uniden call blocking telephone for my business.

NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH TELEMARKETERS.  THEY CAN?T GET THROUGH!

We can stop these telemarketers IF we all buy a call blocking phone.

I have been getting calls from this, and from "Merchant's Circle", suddenly since I started posting stuff on ebay again... coincidence? I think not.

Another call saying they were in the area and had a few spaces for preferential Google placement for my business.  Obviously a crooked operation, why would ANYBODY pay obvious crooks for ANYTHING?

I have had several calls from this number-never a message.  I have added it to the contacts on my cell phone under the name "nuisance call" all numbers under this name go straight to voicemail without even ringing my phone.

Mechanized call that goes to "lighthouse" BOGUS, they are not with Google.

They called a business phone and hung up without answering.

Repeated calls day after day. Most annoying and unwelcome.

GOOGLE TELEMARKETER, gotten several calls too from 909-937-0900, 916-668-4425, 916-668-4412

First, google is such a penny pinching company that they would do the add selling instead of paying commissions for someone else to do it. Second, I got a call on my unlisted residential phone that is on the do not call list. If this company (not google) would commit such a federal criminal act, you should not trust them.

I received a call from this number and when I told the lady (for lack of a better word) she had reached a residence rather than a business, she hung up on me. I called the number back - got the same recording that had played when I first answered the phone, pressed one before waiting for the full prompt to play to "take advantage of this opportunity" and a gentleman answered. When I asked to speak to a supervisor he was genuinely confused. I had somehow rang a random persons home!!!! I apologized and called again. This time I waited for the full prompt to play. I was taken to an operator and I asked for a supervisor. She asked if I was the company owner and, having learned my lesson, I said yes. I asked for a supervisor. When a 'supervisor' came on I started to explain the situation and I was interrupted. It was the same lady who had hung up on me!!! Needless to say I will not be as nice if I get another call from this number.
