I don't know who this is, but it is very unprofessional to call someone's job, especially if they are a teacher, looking for them.

For those of you who are getting calls from these people, it is AGAINST THE LAW for them to call you or any of your relatives and not identify themselves as being from a collection agency. My advice for anyone being harassed by these people is to do what I am doing - archive any such calls (for documentation purposes) and contact one of the not-for-profit agencies set up to deal with them from a legal standpoint. Chances are you can get anywhere from $200 to $1000 from the dirtbags who are calling you because of the dubious means by which they are contacting you.
Good Luck!

If you are "trying to help" why are you breaking federal law to do so?   Why are the callers so rude?  why do yo come off as if you are some sort of authority when you arent?    Why do you harrass people that dont have anything to do with your collection activity?     Why do yo have so many legal cases against your company for improper and illegal collection activity?  Tell it to someone else  its obvious you're full of it

Debt Collector
My mom called me and said a Donna at this number wanted me to call her.  I checked here first to see who the heck they were - I don't want anyone calling someone else about me! After finding out who they are here I called them, first to tell them not to call someone else and second, I did need to talk with someone anyway about my student loan. I actually found the person I spoke with (NOT Donna) very pleasant and helpful.  Who knew? I did tell her about not calling someone else. When we fill out student loan apps we do have to provide references, who they contact to check our current info.  They are not allowed to ask anything more or even to say why they are calling.  But still.... They marked the file because I verified they had current info. I think it's ok now, as far as my account is concerned because they are getting me the forms I need. I checked them out and they are legit.  They work for NSLP, the National Student Loan program, so they can work out loans.  At least they aren't one of the jerk type of collector.  Maybe I was just lucky with the person I talked to. But if you approach it nicely and asking for help they can work things out. I hate student loans, but in my case it was a necessary evil.

An no, I'm not a shill. Just think: someone who is nice and works for the government!!

Hahaha lol at that! Probably what happens at Windham:D No, but really a lot of spying going on..There's no need to be intimidated, you guys. All right, I'm going to emphasize how important it is for everybody that you learn about the FDCPA, and know just how the freaking agencies are taking us for a ride. I got a call from them saying I had outstanding debt on a student loan back in 2009.I told them I already payed Sallie Mae in full. They said the file in front of them showed different.I argued for almost 2 hours straight and it was calls, calls, calls... Instead of directly calling Sallie Mae.I called the Windham person and asked for the supervisor.I put them in a conference with Sallie Mae, who confirmed I owed nothing whatsoever. I asked these people to confirm the same, and only then did the calls stop.See what I mean?Jerks playing around with me.

If you are making payments, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, TAKE PROOFS.Not only this agency, many agencies are giving consumers a hard time. The problem is not those who are collecting for genuine debt, but who are abusing people in illegal terms, frauds, scams, well you get my point.

FIGHT BACK. You have the right to do so.Don't fall prey to unfair practices or end up paying when don't owe in the first place.Know if they are attempting to COLLECT or ROB from you.Ok thats a lot of ranting.I'll stop now.

Capital letters are rude and why don't they state who they are. As to my situation, they are trying to collect on a discharged debt and they won't let up. I am letting the Federal gov't deal with them

I can't belive this company is actually responding to people on this board. hahaha what a freakin' joke you guys are.

A conversation between this companies employees:
Fred- "what are you doing today bill?"
Bill- "oh I figured I come up with a new phone name, I've used up all the good porn stars name....so I got to come up with a new one, how about you? "
Fred- " I figured I'd harass a few people on the phone, then maybe waste some time looking at 800 notes' board to see what people are saying......why?, I have no idea but every since the company gave me this job....well, I feel like somebody, even though I didn't graduate high school and can't get a real job....I still feel impotant"
Bill - uuummmmm....yeah, good luck with that....I'm going back to my hole I think my phone is ringing...."

Face it guys, trying to preach morality to people who don't pay their bills is just a waste of everyones time and in the end, you're just a crappy debt collecting company's TOOL of harassement !!!!

called me and said that they would garnish my wages if I didn't have a "qualifying" payment ib two days.  I checked federal laaw and then talked to the lady again, explained to her that I couldn't make the "qualifying" payment and that I would send in some money (student loan) and when they wanted to work it out with me, then I'd talk to them. I also wrote the the company 'Windham Professionals' and the student loan people about how I was treated.  I got a call back a few days later with a completely different tone, and was told that the payment I had said would be fine.  Know the law before you talk to these people, they can be bullies.

Wow, I am so glad I looked up this number before I called the 1-800 number back.  I was curious to whom it could be, and so looked it up, which I do everytime someone calls.  I just hope that they don't continue to call my work.

I got a message from these people yesterday asking me to call regarding a reference. They left the name of the person who listed me as a reference, but I have never heard of that person before. I was told by the woman that answered the phone that they must have the wrong phone number on file. But I asked her if it was a wrong number, then how come they have my full and correct name on file (my first and last name are not at all common)?  She couldn't answer that question.

She did not try and ask me any personal information like DOB or S.S# (not like I would have given it to her if she did). Still, I found it odd how my name and number ended up in their file.

Actually - no - we are not all debtors. Some people (sadly very few - but some - like myself) do not take out loans or use credit of any kind. And yet I got a call from this Windham Prof. Apparently this company has either got a real problem with mistaken identity or they are intentionally trying to fish for info to run a scam. Not everyone "complaining" on this board are debt dogers.

IT IS SUCH A SHAME THAT YOU DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS. OBVIOUSLY  SOMEONE IS TRYING TO GET INTOUCH WITH YOU FOR GOOD REASON. YOU ARE ONLY HURTING YOURSELF WHEN YOU DON'T AT LEAST PICK UP THE PHONE AND RESOLVE YOUR ISSUES. I'M NOT TRYNG TO BE RUDE BUT IT IS EVIDENT THAT YOU DO NEED HELP WITH YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS OR THESE PEOPLE THAT ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU WOULD NOT BE CALLING YOU. DOES IT HURT THAT BAD TO PICK UP THE PHONE AND FACE YOUR FINANCIAL PROBLEMS? ??? I DON'T THINK SO. PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT 9 OUT OF 10 PEOPLE ARE JUST TRYING TO DO THIER JOB AND TO HELP YOU!

I CAN'T BELIVE ALL THE COMPLAINING THAT GOES ON. YOU ARE AGAINST PEOPLE WHO ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO DO THIER JOB AND DO IT WELL. I WOULD SUGGEST PAYING YOUR BILLS ON TIME AND YOU WILL NEVER HAVE AN ISSUE. MAYBE IF PEOPLE OUT THERE WOULD STOP BEING SO DEFENSIVE THEY MIGHT FIND OUT THAT 9 OUT OF 10 TIMES SOMEONE ON THE OTHER END OF THE PHONE IS TRYING TO HELP YOU.

I just received the same type of call, asking about a reference for someone I don't know.  I looked up the number and found all of this info.  I have student loans but no delinquencies, and no other debt. I also get erroneous email on occasion, from an address similar to the Department of Education.  I called the DOE and found it was a scam.  I don't know if this is a coincidence, but I'm reporting them to the DOE and our State Attorney General, just in case.

They called asking for my husband. She said he "used me as a reference" and I asked where she was calling from. She refused to give me that info and simply said I should ask my husband to call her back soon. I was so pissed off. We don't know what it could be...we don't use credit cards so we owe nothing. My husband got a scholarship for College and so did I so we owe nothing but our mortgage and we're not behind! We're definitely not calling back but she was definitely rude as hell!
