Received a call asking me to call back to 800-232-1258 and gave a reference number to use and a person to ask for.  I called number, ask for Kim Lewis and was told they were trying to collect a Chase Credit Card debt of $28,000.  I told him I've never owned a Chase CC, he then asked for the last four of my social and when I gave it to him he said they had contacted the wrong Holly!!!  What does that mean, they just call every Holly regardless of last name??

Someone else answered the phone and took the number  800-323-1258 to call back to Briana O'Brien. When I called back she wouldn't tell me what she wanted or why she was calling me. I didn't give her any information. If I would of been home, I do not answer numbers that I don't  know.

I called the 800 number back today, gave the operator that extension- he said it was not a valid extension- couldn't find the rep by name....

WTF?   this person called today, yet the name/extension was not valid?  I checked the message 5 times, It was what she left.

Gloria Roberts from ARS called my company's main line and asked for one of our employees by name.  I suspected this was a nuisance call, and said he was not available.  She asked me to pass on a reference number and ask him to call.  Came here to check it out, and as expected - bogus!  Thanks for this resource.

ARS National is a Collector for Chase. They work direcly for Chase. They do not purchase debts for pennies on the dollar like some collection agencies.

Called from 919-883-4508 to look like a local number and left a message to call 800-232-1258.    

So they call from local numbers sometimes too.

Got a call from them looking for someone named Walter, who apparently has used my phone number in the past on credit card apps. Since his last name is similar to mine, I get a bunch of these calls. The person I spoke to was at extension 1095, would not tell me what the call was about, but when I told her this dude had never lived at my address (I built this house, so pretty sure.....), she said she would take me off the list. We'll see.

Call **mumble** Hitchcock at this number ext 1230 asking to have my son call back. My son hasn't lived here for 17 yrs!! When I told him about this he said he has not given my name as a reference or emergency contact on a loan & is not behind on a payment anyway.  He called this number and these people asked HIM for his SSN and his Chase VISA card # ! He told them to go fly a kite, he was recording the conversation AND he works for law enforcement as well. The broad hung up FAST!! He's turning it over to the state Consumer Protection Agency and Attorney General.  Maybe some of this will stop!

The way they're using a local area code is not un-common from the multiple calls I've been getting from various collection agencies.   They must either be using something like Spoofcard or quite honestly, it's probably cheaper just to sign up for a number with Google Voice.   I think they probably figure if we see a local area code, especially what always appears to be a cell number area code, we're automatically going to answer thinking it's a friend, relative or otherwise.   The stupid thing is though, they call with a bogus # on the caller ID but then they leave the 800 number to call back on.  Do they not realize we're just going to look up the number on Google?   Actually, this leads me to believe it's probably done more through Spoofcard.  Otherwise, they'd leave the bogus # as a call back number.

just ask the collector if they're shaved or hairy down below.. that tends to stop the conversation very quickly.

I believe these people called a realitive and got my work number (family business) and someone there gave out my cell.  I didn't answer the cell.  Caller ID on cell was 800-232-1258.  The message was for my wife to call back and ask for ext x and give file # y.  I called the 800 # and the greeting said ARS National.  This is probably a collection agency.

a guy called my brother , of whom i have not talked to inquite a long time and said that I left his name and number as an emergency contact and to haveme call this number (800-232-1258) he left an extension and refernce number. then continued to say it was important to call back.

A guy left a message for my daughter (who doesn't and never has lived here) and we have different last names. I figure if they really wanted to find her they would be better at it.  The message left said for her to call (mumbles)lopez at 800-232-1258 Ext. 1063

Guy called here for my step-daughter who has not lived here in more than 15 years. I think they use "People Finders" for any possible link.

I too got a call from this number...the message had my name...I called back and it was a business.  The person that answered said it was a *glitch* and that they got lots of calls for that number and extension and that it could be a collection agency.  I have excellent credit and am concerned about someone using my name that does not!!  How in the world can I contact this agency.

800-232-1258 is Associated Recovery Systems ARS National Services Inc. | Rip-off , they also somehow use a local area code to get you to answer.

This number belongs to ARS - Associated Recovery Systems. If you want the calls to stop, you can send a cease and disist letter to this address; 960 S. Andreason Dr. #B Escondido, CA 92029. You'll need to call them first (be careful which number you call from - all 800 numbers have ANI - Automatic Number Identification and you can NOT block it. ANI is much better than Caller ID) and get your account number. Or if you have any mail (most likely you will if they have been calling you then they've also been mailing you too). Once you have your account number, just find a good cease and disist letter on the internet and send it to them two ways. 1) Regular mail. 2) Registered mail - return receipt requested. Then they will have to stop contacting you based on the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

My husband had a voicemail at work from 800-232-1258 xt 1205.  The guy said he was the IRS.  We don't owe the IRS any money so I plugged in the phone number and it lead me here.  I'm glad to know it is not the IRS.

got a call from craig yost just now. he wouldn't give me any info as to what company he works for or anything. he just kept demanding that i verify i owe him a debt. based off dave's plan, i told him to mail me info about how i own him or his company this debt. he kept stepping around trying to get me to state that i owe any debt. i wouldn't confirm or deny any information until he told me who he was and what company he worked for. he hung up. i think for fun im going to keep calling him back and harass him until he gives me the info im demanding. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFO OR VERIFY ANYTHING UNTILL THEY PROVE IT'S VALID! Bottom feeder companies like this will gain access to your bank account and drain it!
