They will get there money one way or another, sooner or later.  They can garnish wages, income tax, ssi, ssdi, due to soc. sec. numbers.  They garnished my ssdi and it is 15 %. the Fed(Aes & PHEAA are Federally Funded Business) can take anything they want with due process.

there you go - blame everyone else for you not paying your loan for a yr. geeze. im goin to go out on  a limb and say your an Obama supporter right?  You knew you had to pay the loan and for a year you didnt. Simple as that. You know there are some hard working americans who have to live beneath our standard to make sure the debts we owe are paid.  Mayb eif you dont have money to get to work somedays its because your living in a house you cant afford and dont need.   But again i bet you are an Obama supporter who bought into the whole notion that its every americans right to own a home.    Grow up and stop placing blame on everyone else and be responsible for your actions.  Fact is - your loans havent been paid in full as agreed. And if you dont have the money to pay it back what do you think they should do? Forgive you because you didnt try to dodge it? Because you did pay a portion of it so rest should be forgiven?    Once you look in the mirror and see where the responisbility and fault lies- maybe you can start to find a way to turn things around.

I will say it is people like you who make them mean and nasty to people like me. I am a single mother of two children. put myself through school. Bought a house two years ago and apart of the agreement was to consolidate the school loans. This was completed and I have been struggling but paying my loan and successfully got my home. Here it is two years later and I may loose my home because when everyone was working on the home loan they missed some of the AES loans...I tried to call these people back on several occasions and received no answer. After I did finally get someone I tried to explain it must be a mistake, because I have been paying on my loan monthly. The last time I called I did get someone who started swearing at me, asked me to give her my information. I figured it was a scam, because since I bought the house I have had all kinds of people calling trying to sell me something or another. I ignored the calls for a while and finally received something in the mail it stated they have tried to work with me for 365 days. and now they had the right to garnish wages and take income taxes. I am dried out I have no more money to give anyone. I do not even have money to get to work some days. It is people like you who run from the money you owe that make them squeeze people who try and pay. Thanks, while you are hiding from a loan you obviously agree you owe, my children will be living in a car by the end of the month...Thanks from all us hard working American's that have to pay bills, because we have to be responsible and now the government will not give a break.

I really don't understand why people post on here thinking someone is going to help them.  I'm afraid you are on your own in dealing with a problem millions of people deal with daily.  If you want something done about it, take action!!!  Just don't post it here asking for someone to do it for you - you are wasting your time and ours.  Wake up and open your eyes to what is going on around you!

I hear there's a new program coming out soon where student loan payment is limited to 10% of monthly income. You can't dodge student loans forever.

I've owed them student loan money for 8 yrs while I bounce around Hanover PA giving out bogus phone numbers to Walmart pharmacy and such....instead of finding ME, they harrass innocent victims with phone numbers I provide...!!! Hopefully, one of those bogus phone numbers I give out will lead to someone who sues the s*$% out of them for telephone misuse/harrassment, mental anguish, forced insane behavior, reckless endangerment, etc....!!!

Call me every few days asking for someone who probaly use to have my number. Blocking them doesn't work because they have dozens of numbers. At first I was polite and told them they are calling the wrong number, they appologized and say they'll take your number off their list. Next week the calls start again. Now i'm just completely rude to them. I talk over top of them, pretend I can't hear them, ask them to hold on and put the phone next to the tv till they hang up. It's actually becoming very entertaining.

Calls and hangs up repeatedly... 8am, noon, 5pm... sometimes calls right back a minute later and does it again.

Called twice today while I was out. Left no message. Looked it up its from American Educational Services.

Good luck getting them to stop without direct action... answering the phone and telling them will never do any good (or at least hasn't for me or anyone I know). Try calling them back, repeatedly, and talking to them to get number removed. Although they enjoy robo-calling you, they apparently do not like to receive calls.
The people who had my phone before me, named Dunham (or something close to that spelling) were apparently a man and wife team of deadbeats and I got hammered with calls. Calling the callers back (when possible) can make them stop.. usually.

Perhaps the computer is checking numbers for active listings and then someone will call back later.  It would be nice to speak to a HU-MAN and find out what they want.
I now have this number on the call block list.

Keeps calling and hanging up when I answer... as soon as say hello, one or two seconds then - 'click'  Nothing but harassment. Keeping track of calls from now on and going to file charges.

They call for various reasons.  
They called me to let me know that I have met the requirements needed to get my loan out of a default status.  The calls were to remind me that the completion process required a signature on a form and to send it back.  
I don't run from bill collectors, AT ALL.  They ALWAYS have various alternative plans for how you get out of trouble with them.  It could work for you as long as you have a real hand in the payback plan.

PERSON BEFORE ME WHO HAD THIS PHONE

Apparently they have several numbers they are using to contact individuals, however, I have had my number for the past 5 1/2 years and have no clue as to who they are trying to contact.  The one and only time that I was able to speak with someone, I informed them that this is my number and the individual you are looking for no longer has this number and has not.  They apparently do not know how to delete a number that is not valid for the person they are looking for.  When checking another number it appears that the company on this number also uses 866-226-3380 just so that you will know.

Hey I can tell you that you can go to the US Dept of Education and refinance your loans with them

Many calls from them- mostly hang-ups.

They are education loan collection dept-- after the people who had my phone # before.

I called & told them-hopefully they will stop: meantime they are call blocked.

call me non-stop.  took my tax return and almost my wife's tax return.  garnishing my wages at work.  wont take my blood

Have called twice so far today before noon...I am paying AES and do not intend to pay them more than I have to...IRS also takes part of my tax return for them...but they keep calling even though they have been told that I have no extra money to give them...I have had to legally adopt my youngest daughter's two children and they are still in diapers and I cannot afford to give them more. They will be paid off around March 2011 with the payments that I am making but that is not good enough for them.

Got a call from a person who wanted by birthdate.  I said no.  She said well you call us and give it to us!  I said no and she got rude.  I hung up.
