Got a call from 800 233 8483 to my mobile, left no message so I didnt know who it is. Called back and found out it was Affiliated Acceptance. I asked to be removed from their list and for them never to call the number again. They told me they were looking for someone named Raymond with a delinquent martial arts membership. The woman agreed to "mark" my number as "a bad number".

This number robo-calls me regularly. I am registered on the do not call list. A human is never on the other end of the line.

The most recent string of calls have been trying to direct me to a website "relating to my account."

I have no clue how these guys still exist. (800) 233-8483 is the number that shows up.

My son does karate monthly and my mother in law pays the bill.  However he took two months off and we gave adequate notice of 6 weeks for the card not to be charged in June and July and of course they charged it in June which she disputed.  Which of course they sent me a letter about and I sent it right back to them and cc'd the karate school as we gave more than adequate notice on our end to them and its not our problem they can't get their books together.

The karate school agrees.  However these idiots call every Saturday and when I answer, the line is open and no one says a word. But I'll get a form letter in the mail next week and we'll go through the whole thing again.

I have been receiving repeated calls from them over the past few months.  I do not have any outstanding debt that I know of and am bothered by the frequent calls.  How can I get information about what they are calling in regard to.

A collection agency calls and hangs up for a reason. I'm not saying it's right- I am right now trying to take legal action again this company, so I'm on your side. They do this because they law they follow (FDCPA) states you can only leave one message a day on the person's answering machine. You may only HAVE one contact a day; and a message counts as a contact. Therefore if they call and hang up without leaving a message, it is not considered a contact. If they don't leave a message a day, it's because they also follow the privacy act, which states you can have one contact every 48 hours. They are silly.

Thanks, folks, for helping me to figure out this string of weird calls.  After reading this thread and looking at my credit card receipt, I verified that they do indeed charge our account for our martial arts club membership.  It turned out to be an expired credit card date that needed updating.  I'd have called them back the *first* time if they'd left any sort of recognizable information to let me know what the call was about.  My charge card says "AAC", and the phone message referred to "profinserv.com".

I just got a call at 8:05 Saturday morning.  I googled the number 800-233-8483 and Affiliated Acceptance Corporation appeared.  When I saw that they are a collection agency, I thought--I don't owe any money,  My health club membership is paid automatically with my CC.  It's possible that my card may be expiring in the next month or two, but I would never give that info to a solicited caller.  If I find that my credit card is indeed expiring in the next few months, I will call them to give the new information.

I do get repeated calls and hangups from a lot of callers.  I would think that if the call is that important, why in the hell don't they leave a message instead of hanging up, or having no response when you do answer?  Even if there is a legitimate reason, they will probably find other reasons of their own to keep harassing you once the REAL one is resolved.

I think that it is out of line on their part to keep calling like that, especially so early in the morning.  I used to always answer the phone for all calls, but I stopped when there were more hangups and the callers being rude and pushy.  No means NO!  Every one of those callers hangs up and never leaves a message.

The problem is when you answer the phone, they don't answer and then they hang up.  Time and time again for me.

Got repeated calls from them "This is Affiliated Acceptance Corporation in regards to your open account".  Most of the time they would not leave a message (90% of the time), occasionally they would.  When I try to call back, I never got an answer so I stopped calling.

Finally after months, they actually sent me a hard copy of what I owed -- I did indeed owe it and confirmed that it wasn't a scam -- and I sent a check for the full amount in with the return receipt.

Now, a month and a half later, I'm starting to get calls from them again the past few days (today, a Saturday morning I received a call at 8:02am and 12:05pm).  I called back after the first call, in which they hadn't left a voicemail and there was no answer.  They left a voicemail with the second call directing me to either call back or go to www.profinserv.com for information regarding my "open account".  I thought it was weird that they'd use yet ANOTHER company, when they're already a debt collector but checked out the website.  There's NO information about Professional Financial Services on the website (seems kinda fishy) and when I clicked the "enter" button I got an error message "Web Server received an invalid response".

1- I paid in full.
2- If you want to talk, why do you hang up when I answer?
3- Why is there no answer when I call back?
4 - Why are you sending me to another company's website -- especially when it doesn't even work properly?

I'm beyond frustrated and annoyed with all of this.

Beware that they will continue to call even when the debt is fraudulent, however, you can send an email to customerservice@affiliated.org and tell them to "remove your phone number from the call list and you do not give them permission to call anymore" and the calls will stop-it worked for me after I finally got a straight answer on how to get them to stop calling me.

Here's the link for A A C 's entry with Better Business Bureau: http://www.bbb.org/stlouis/business-reviews/c ... ch-mo-110162148 . Everyone who gets calls from these guys should tell BBB. They've gotten lots of complaints about them. But A A C probably don't care. Better yet, do what I did: buy a Panasonic Dect 6.0 corded/cordless phone. It has a built-in blocking feature. Put their number in the 'blocked' list, and from that point on, whey they call you hear 1 ring, and all they hear is a busy signal. I've used this on several annoying robocallers and it works great.

OK, Matt's Mom, save the smug arrogance for the suburbs where I'm sure you'll fit right in.
If you had bothered to read all the posts, there is OBVIOUSLY more than one AAC.
As an "intelligent consumer", you would know that when a legit company chooses to use a 3rd party processor, then the relationship between the hiring and processing company should be such that they wouldn't have to contact the consumer; the company they're working for SHOULD be doing the work.
Also, if you bothered to read all the posts, you'd also realize that there are enough variations on issues with the number to indicate a strong possibility of "spoofing" the number.
And, in conclusion, if all the calls are from the AAC you mention, then it would show EXTREMELTY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE to call numbers and either hang up or leave no message.
Even to a "more intelligent consumer" like yourself, that should be obvious.

Event Reminder
IGNORANCE ISN?T ALWAYS BLISS!! ................ Obviously I'm one of the more intelligent consumers and know exactly what and who is billing my account at all times so I knew it was a valid call ----PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE---- IF you don't remember who is billing your credit card or who you agreed to do business with and allow to bill your account, you should ONLY use cash!  Don't cry "SCAM" because of your ignorance!!  They were calling to update the expiration date on the card I use for the automatic payment for my son's Martial Arts class.  Shows up on the credit card statement as "AAC*(insert merchant name here), bills from: CITY 800-2338483, STATE  MO, ZIP CODE 65079.  Guess what, the call came from the same # that shows up in the City name (800) 233-8483 ?.. if you?re not comfortable taking the call and verifying information --- call them back on the 800 233 8483 #, give the phone# they called you on and guess what, they?ll pull up an account? it may be for you/your family or may have simply been a data entry error on a phone# they entered ? they will correct it! ............ know what you're talking about before you cry SCAM or FRAUD ...

As mentioned previously, this is Affiliated Acceptance who handles membership dues for gyms and other athletic organizations.  They have called me in the past when I changed my card information and needed to update my billing, so I know who they are.

That said, they are calling me twice a day right now, and I am paid up on both accounts that I have with them.  I get a call from this number, and either I answer or my voicemail picks it up, but either way there are two seconds of silence followed by a hang-up.  No response, message, recording, nothing.

Extremely irritating!

Chill out people. This is AAC and they handle billing info for gyms, tanning clubs, martial arts studios, health clubs, etc. They could be calling to let you know your credit card is about to expire, contact info is invalid, or (as in my case) to let you know you have a free month of membership. Be an adult and answer the phone.
