I get called by these idiots all the time saying im in debt to them, I've only lived in this country for a year and have no debts at all. to me there just phoning for the sake of it to keep there crappy lil jobs!

I got off the phone with them to file a complaint. They were so rude and hateful to me whenever they called. I did not appreciate their snide remarks or hateful attitudes. It's not my fault you didn't go to college and your forced to work a s****y job where people are hateful to you all day. I also just finished filing my complaint with the FTC. :D gotta love the internet.

Would it help if I got a lawyer to stop these calls?

I've been called every day up to 3 times a day. The first time I answered a lady was very rude and ugly to me and told me that if I could afford a phone I could pay off my debt. Nothing else. Not who they are, nothing. Every other time I answer the call no one responds. When I ignore it I get no voicemail or messages stating who they are. I wasn't even told who I owed or what company it was. My cell phone is paid for by a restaurant I do IT work for. I don't know how they got that number. I'm homeless. I work for food and a place to stay. I think the debt is a hospital bill from when I tried to kill myself. After I lost everything. My family. My home. My wife. My job. My car. I was forced to be "helped" only to be charged for something I never wanted. I barely make it as is now and I get this call every day on a phone that isn't even mine. It's harassment and it's really not something I can even begin to cope with.

I do believe  I got rid of these people. Call the atty general of Alabama to report them. You must have the name of the company to file a complaint. They will send you a form to fill out. I then called the phone number 1-800-234-6073 until I got a supervisor. Explain that you have been in touch with the Attorney Generals' office and you want the calls to stop. Worked for me!

Truthseeker sounds like you might work for that company or called the wrong number.When I called Any of those #s I had them hang up on me or not answer the phone when I called back.
   I didn't mention any statute of limitations or filing of any legal documents,I said that After 3 years under Alabama Law,that a debt was uncollectible.The amounts they are seeking are so small they are not worth filing.
  CBSI Does collect those small amounts or tries to by calling over and over again and in most cases the debt has already been reported to a credit agency.
    You are correct in writting that you should contact them and ask for a written statement,you will never hear from them again.
       These people are not just a call center but you are speaking directly to their employees.
   I am sure they have already moved on by now.BTW my credit score is 837 and I do not owe anyone a cent other than monthly bills

I love the misinformation that floats around on the internet. People should check their facts before posting. Out of curiosity, I called the #'s above & asked questions.  They were very nice to me.

CBSi does not purchase debt.  They do however collect debt for various entities across the country.  This may be why you live in another state besides Alabama and be receiving phone calls from them.  

According to my knowledge Statue of Limitations refers to the time frame in which an account can have a suit filed to claim payment. It just can't be credit reported after 7 years. If your not sure what you owe, you should write them and request verification of the debt.

As American states, It is a call center, therefore you may have to hold before speaking to a live agent due to call volume.  Just the same as when you try to call AT&T or Direct Tv.

This agency has to be fake... or unlawful. I called them in regards to a collection form I got for $615... for Atlantic Tanning. I wish I could upload a picture of myself because you all would laugh. I'm super pale, always have been always will be. I called them and was very polite and told the woman the situation about how I got in touch with the actual location in 2009 when I received a notice. She gave me a lecture on how services work and told me to tell her my credit card information she could look it up. She said that she had my information from 2009... though my number I have now, I just got recently and it's in my boyfriend's name. There was NO WAY to resolve this issue with this woman on the phone so I asked to speak to her supervisor and she hung up. I called again... they picked up and hung up... called another time and got a recording of "CBSi is not available at this time". It left me really confused and to be honest... really pissed.

If they can talk to customers like that... imagine who runs this agency.

this number has called and called my home phone. i let it go to voicemail and nothing. when i answer i get nothing or like today some type of music. not even a good song. i called back and someone answered and then hung up. how rude!!! i called back again and someone again answered and when i explained that this number had called my house, this man denied anyone from there calling here and then he hung up. what's wrong with these ppl? they can call and bother us over crap yet how dare we call them back? silly idiotic ppl.

I called these people for about 3 hours and got a live person.I TOLD them to remove my name from their call list,I was going to file a police report and try to take them to court for phone harassment.The person on the phone then hung up on me.Funny thing is they are only 1 block from the Sheriff's office and I am going to follow thru with this since I have them on my answering machine 5 times at least.

This number belongs to CBSI a collection company address is 550 Greensboro Ave,STE 301,Tuscaloosa,Al,35401.Local number is 205-345-3030.Other numbers I have are 1-800-945-3251 and 1-800-234-3251.They are a debt collection agency of the worst sort and usually buy up old uncollected debt from Doctors,other health care people and even some banks some of which is not even legal to collect it is so old.State laws differ but over 3 years in Alabama is uncollectable for med bills.Send them a letter asking who and what do you owe and you probaly won't hear from them again.They never answer the phone so I am going to ride by and see them in person tomorrow since I live close.

Whoever this is calls my cell number early every morning.  Never says anything, just hangs up when answer.  Does anybody know who this is?

They called me at home and did not leave a name, or where they were calling from. The only information they left was this number.

saw this # on my caller ID so I called it back.  Long story short, woman asks what number they called, I give her my number and she asks if a so & so lives there?  Never heard of this person before and she says ok, thank you and hangs up.  Nice and rude.  Collection company I'm assuming.  We get calls for old neighbors all the time.

they deal in collections for several entities, which include banks such as AmSouth and Compass bank, and cable companies such as Comcast. The number seems to that of the "call center" which explains why it is difficult to get an actual person on the line.

This company CBSI is a collection agency. Located in alabama.

I don't live anywhere NEAR Alabama, I've never heard of ANY of the people they are affiliated with, and as far as I'm aware I have NO debts!!! I don't even have a credit card! Why the hell are these people calling me?

This number showed up on my cell phone, and when I answered, no one said anything.  One minute later, I got an "unknown" call.  Not sure if it's a coincidence but I hardly ever get unfamiliar calls.  Then, this morning, another missed call from this number.  What the hell?

I just called the number and the company is CBSI (as mentioned in some of the other posts). I don't understand why a collection agency is calling me, when i do not have any outstanding debts.  I've had quite a few collection agencies call me but again, I am not in debt, so I'm comcerned that this may be some sort of scam.

This # does belong to a national collection agency located in Tuscaloosa, Al. They may or may not have been provided with the wrong phone #.  Be patient & wait for a representative to get on the line. Provide them with the phone # they called & they will locate the # in their system.  If it turns out it is you they are looking for, then be a grown up & handle your personal affairs. If it turns out it is not you, ask them to remove your # and add you to their do not call list. It's that simple. If you only get a voicemail, leave a POLITE voicemail stating the reason you called.
