A guy named Michael has called twice in a very serious voice, saying he's "the [name of printer manufacturer] guy." I am acquainted with the person who handles our copy machine and he knows my first name, so this is an obvious scam. Nice try, Michael.

A guy named Carlos called about copier.  I told him that he would have the model number if he is calling from the company that handles our copier.  I then asked for his number and he gave me this number but noone answers it.  He then said that he would be in to take our copier and that I needed to unplug it because he would meet me in the parking lot!  Now how unprofessional is that!!!

Got a call about a Savin printer cartridge for our 9040 model in shipping.  Guy says there was a price increase but they will hold one back at the old price of 549 and is it ok for them to just go ahead and send it to us? I tell him I don't think we buy our printer cartidges from them and he hangs up.  It was obvious they want you to say something close to "yes, go ahead and ship it" and they record your voice saying this and probably ship you something else.

I just got a call from these guys and guess what? The name and number came up on the caller I.D. I called and spoke with the switchboard woman who was extremly rude and went by the name of Kara Smith. She claimed she didn't know of a company called Ink Express and she would write the company and ask them to stop calling my company. Hmmm very fishy! Point is...Watch out for Ink Express phone number that came up was 310-338-8800 and the number "Kara Smith gave me was 1-800-649-1605. Thank goodness I didn't fall for this trap. I thought you would like this number ...best of luck

Just tell the person on the phone that the person who handles your printers has changed. Suggest Jack Mehoff at 1-800-235-1000 would gladly talk about any ink or toner concerns.  Sad to think of what state one's life must be in, to compel them to resort to dishonesty and harassment to turn a buck.  Suicide would end you problem and be less effin' annoying to boot. Do it today.

Keep getting the same thing. They call weekly asking for different departments, today was the accounting department, and once there's no one there to talk to they go in to the story of sending out toner for our machine. As soon as I start to say no, they just hang up on me!!  I am getting really sick and tired of it and they need to stop f'n calling!

got a call from this number one day saying price in toner was going up and they had a box reserved at old price. Guy calls the next day saying he heard from the first guy that we were to get the toner at orig. price. I told him we were working on our phone lines and I needed his number to call back just in case I lost him. (I already knew it was a scam at this point) he recited this number after asking why and telling me he was too busy and got too many calls to this number. Then he actually asked for my manager by name and said to tell him he still owes him $20 from the super bowl. Found out from a coworker the guy called her asking for the managers name and my title... riiiight.

I spoke to someone that identified himself as Tom Anderson for Muratec, which is the type of copier we own. However, our supplies are provided by a different company. I asked for a number to call back and he gave me the 800-235-1000. I called the company that services our copier and they said this was a scam. When i tried to call that number back no one will answer. If i receive anything in the mail i will be refusing delivery.

*IDENTITY THEFT THREAT*
Today I received a call from this number (shown on my cell phone).  The woman from India (how ironic as most calls placed to Dell do connect you to someone from India) said she was from Dell's software department and that they had been monitoring my computer and I had "suspicious activity" and they wanted to remote to my computer to "fix it".  Right.  I told her that Dell doesn't make customer calls (unless you have a service contract and have scheduled a prearranged call) and to never call again.  I had received a call earlier in the week from a land line in New York State stating the same thing.  I told her the same thing then too. It did freak me out that she had my name, cell number and knew I had a Dell.  I called Dell and they spent 2 hours cleaning up my computer and told me that it had not been compromised - my computer was safe.  Still don't know how the woman who called knew that much about me.

Always be safe and tell them to call back later.  Then call the company and verify that they indeed placed a call or report that one was made.

I understand that stating they are from Dell or Microsoft are the popular companies at the moment.

Received a call from David Young on 11/01/12 saying that they have a "new" protocol in ordering supplies. A lot of BS about everyone the shipping department was fired since they made a mistake costing over $18K. Told me to tell the person that calls me on the next day that I had talked with him, they don't use Purchase Orders, and yes we can get the toner at last years prices. He is trying to have us accept toner for a machine we don't even have. Sure enough on 11/02/12 I received a call from Rick with Premium Distribution. I told him that I didn't order any toner. His response "Didn't order any. Ok, I'll cancel it." and hung up quickly.

When are these people going to give up?

"Brian" called our mainline office number and said he was our rep for our color printer, and asked how much toner we had in stock. I said I couldn't talk at the moment and I asked for his number to call him back (I sincerely believed that he was our rep). Once I took down his number I asked him if he was from our copier service provider, and then he went off on me.

He demanded to know why I even asked for his number if I wasn't interested and said that I should think before opening my mouth. He then attributed my stupidity to the reason why I answer phones for a living.

He sounded like he was going to continue his tirade, but I simply hung up before he contined his insults. I'm sorry, but if you are going to try to rip people off, step one is to sell not harass, bully, and insult someone. I've heard of disgruntled employees, but never heard of a disgruntled scammer.

I tried to call the number he left (1-800-235-1000) but the phone just kept ringing.

I received a call from this scam artist also "James" but now he is "James Taylor".  He sung the same song to me that he has this toner for $349.00 distcounted from $398.00.  He claims that my office has a Minolta.  He is wrong I do  not have that copier as it was donated awhile ago to a school.   He gave me the (800) 235-1000.  I call it and it rang rang rang.

I just received a phone call from this number claiming to be from Konica Minolta. The first name he gave was Tim. He put me on hold, and a supposed John Ryan picked up, but it sounded like the same person to me. When I questioned his name, he stated that Tim was just someone who was assisting him. He claimed the reason for his call was to inform my institution of a 10% increase in toner prices, and that they had failed to send out a memo of the price increase. Thus, we would receive a box of free toner. I mentioned to him that I thought it was odd that my purchasing department had not informed me of the price increase.  He asked for my last name; I hesitantly gave it to him. He said that someone would call me back tomorrow to get specifics of where to send the bill for the toner. I then asked him for his phone number, and he gave me the 1-800-23-1000. I immediately spoke to my purchasing department, and they informed me of the scam. Please beware of this number.

Received a call from a female who asked if I ordered copier supplies.  She asked to place call on hold.  Joseph then came on the line and said the young lady was new and he was helping her.  He asked if I ordered supplies for the Savin 8035 copier. (Joseph included the model number.)  They were calling to inform me of a price increase for the Black toner (10%) which I order for this copier.  I asked could this could be sent in writing.  He said it was in writing.  The letter should have already been sent but they were calling because they forgot to mail the letter to me.  Therefore, they had one box of toner on hold to send to me at the former price before the 10% increase.  I asked "What is the bottom line?"  I was told the former price for  black toner was $439.  I asked for company name and call back number. I told Joseph that I would need to call him back.  He asked why.  I told him I would need to get approval before  making a purchasing decision.  Joseph gave me "235-1000"  (He did not provide a 10-digit number.) To my query if this was a local number, Joseph said: ?no, it is an 800 number.  He then said  1-800-235-1000 ext 121.

S.O.B.!  I unwittingly authorized the order of 2 toners for $189 from Chuck today before googling the number and company and finding this site.  The 888-649-1605 # they gave me is what brought me here.  I guess we're screwed and will be receiving the toners sometime next week, but if i notify everyone here not to receive the shipment and return to sender...we should be okay right?

A "Dan" called to ask if the copier has a problem and asking what the model # is. So I go check it out and by the time I came back he hung up. He then calls in saying he is "John" from the warehouse, so I continue to question him asking what company he is with and he gets argumentative asking me that I should know this if I am the one who handles the copier equipment. So I keep asking him and eventually he just hang's up again.

He said he was an executive at CBS with 100 employees.
He told me that he came to my restaurant (it is true I think, short bold person with a lady) and spent 24 dollars for two people.
Later he told me that when he arrived to his office, he found a cockroach in one of his bags????. I asked him if I could come and see it he was very upset, and started to make up stories.
He demanded 57 dollars.
When I started to question him, he started to threaten me with lawsuit and lawyer.
He said his name was Tom Johnson.
I feel so much better about this blog, I have been in business for 13 years and never had this happened before.
Have a great day.
PD I do have a letter A on my window

He provided me with an address that I will keep in my records (just in case somebody needs it one day)

I actually work for a copy machine dealer in the Ohio Region and one of our clients received a call yesterday from the now infamous 800-235-1000 claiming to be from our dealership with the same "toner price is going up" scam. To all office workers out there, any respectable office machine dealer that sells and services their clients will have at their fingertips all of the account information they would ever need to complete a supply order. If they are asking for information that you would think they should have, you are correct....they should, and it is likely a scam.

Please remember that a high majority of service contracts today include consumable supplies like toner. If the price is going up then that should not effect you unless you do not have a contract. Our industry does not make these calls but the rip-off artists do. Should you ever feel that you were taken advantage of by one of these people, simply refuse the delivery and you should be fine. Here's hoping that we can stop these knuckleheads by being aware of what they are doing...

Ya ever notice how all of these people are using "famous" names? Chuck Taylor, James Taylor, Ann Phillips? My receptionist got a call from these jokers today - we will NOT be signing for a @#$@$%~ thing. Our copier is under contract and our TONER IS COVERED. They are "supposed" to call back tomorrow- let them. These scammers are unreal.
