I received a call from Ashley from ADS Collections telling me the purpose of her call was for Acai Berry debt collection. If she received $60 from me today she would not report me to the Credit Bureau. I have an email from 4/22/10 stating the debt was cancelled. She said she'd make a note of it and I should wait to hear back. I have never received anything from ADS Collections in the mail, only a phone call today.
Yep, this all sounds like the same type of call I received today, only the call was from 321-285-2380. It was also from an introductory order I placed, received and paid for back in mid 2009. I cancelled any subsequent orders that might come from this company but shortly after that I cancelled that particular credit card. Now they (apparently a company by the name of Pure Nutracuticals?) said I didn't answer any of their emails to me in the past year to collect $80 (for which I had received nothing) and the woman (who said her name was Veronica McCalin) from ADS Collections said I had to pay the $80 before the end of the phone call or they'd report it to the credit bureaus. I said forget it.
I wonder about anyone who would take a job like that - or if they can sleep at night.
I had the same thing. I had to cancel my debit card because of fradulent charges. I actually tried to call back today try to settle this once and for all and I keep getting recording about a Ring Central. Is this a scam or what?
I recieved a phone call on the 29th from Marjie Taylor telling me the same thing other than she was trying to collect $80.00 from me for the Acai berry. I tried to call back today and I keep getting a recording from a Ring Central. Is this for real or not.
two days later - they called again saying that they didin't remember speaking to me earlier, but if I wanted to close out the debt, I could pay them the further reduced price for $45 now by credit card
I told them I suspected them of being a phishing company, and reported them to the consumerfraudreporting orgainzation already, and wanted them to provide me their business license number, they paused a minute and said that they didn't have the number available right now - sorry.
I had the same situation - (got an out of the blue call saying I owned money from 1.5 yrs ago, pay now by credit card or .... ) - Better Business Bureau gives "ADS" (American Debt Specialists an grade of "F") - I believe them to be a fraud conducting group - This is the email I sent to consumerfraudreporting.org
This is to report what appears to be a phone scam regarding a ?collections agency? trying to collect on what they said was an old debt (that I know nothing about) with a company I did do business with in 2009. They offered to ?close the issue? if I paid them over the phone that evening with a credit card number. They had my
? Email address
? Phone number
? Last 4 digits of my Credit Card
I did not pay them. See below for more information
Last evening (Wed Dec 22nd 2010) I received an phone call from a man who said his name was Joby Jonathan. He said he worked for ADS Collection and that he was related to an past due debt that I he said I owed from July 16th 2009. He said that I tried to pay for this product with my credit card ending in xxxx ( he had the right last 4 digits of my credit card number) but that the payment came back as unauthorized and therefore the company ?Acai Berry? did not get paid. And that if I would pay him this evening over the phone via credit card, it would be cheaper than if I track down the company and pay them directly. He said the debt owed to the company was $80, but that if I paid him $60 tonight he could close the issue now. But that if I didn?t want to pay the debt would need to turn it over to the credit bureau. I told him that if I owe a debt I have no problems paying it but that I had no communications from ?Acai Berry? in the last year and a half, and that this sounded like a scam and that I was not going to provide my credit card number over the phone to anyone I didn?t know. He said that I had no need to fear because this conversation was being recorded. ? I said that doesn?t matter because I do not have access to the recording. He said ?Are you familiar with the consumer protections act? I said I had heard of it but that I was not familiar with it. He said that the act protects me from any type of fraud so that I was safe. I asked him if he had any tracking number associated with my debt that I could reference ? he said he did not, but that if I paid him tonight he would provide me with a tracking number. I asked him for the telephone number of his company . He gave it to me but in looking at my notes later I realized that I did not write down a complete phone number (I guess I was too busy yelling at him). The part I do have written down is 800-235-679 . I looked up the company name on the web but couldn?t find it, I looked up the phone number on the web (the parts I had ) ? and couldn?t find a reference to any collections agency. I also couldn?t find the name of the agency in the better business bureau records ? nor on a general Google search . Additionally, I contacted my credit card company and asked them if they had any record of denying any charge around that time frame and they said they did not have any record of any denied charge but they wouldn?t necessarily have records of that, yet it sounded suspicious and that there was no reason that they would have denied a charge since my card is / was in good standing.
I found the bottle of the product I purchased last year ? and contacted the distribution company information on the back of the bottle ? they said they have a record on file for me from my purchase but that it was in Aug of 2009. Additionally, they have no credit card number on file and that they shred their sales records). They also stated that I do not owe them any money. Their company name is Vibrant Health Solutions, 1-866-789-0835. I have copied them on this report.
I too received a call from ADS collections yesterday, calling me out of the blue stating that they were trying to settle a debt for Acai berry as well. The also named the company as "nutra burst." About a year ago I was victim of fraud when I "purchased" acai berry supplement online - my debit card was charged hundreds of dollars over and over on the same day until I cancelled my card with my bank. I NEVER received any product and my bank has since reimbursed me for the fradulent charges. Now ADS or American Debt Specialist Collections have called threatening the same thing. If I don't settle for $60, giving a credit card number over the phone, they will report me to all 3 credit bureaus. They even had the last 4 of old credit card number, expiration date and date of transaction when I stupidly "bought" acai berry online. I tried to see if I could send a certified check or money order to settle this and was told that credit card was the only way to settle. Sounds fishy. I then left a message for Marjie Taylor 1-800-235-6799 ext 104 requesting a physical address to mail this supposed $60 for a "product" I never received. I have never received anything by mail or in writing regarding the legitmacy of this claim. Who else is victim of this? Is this a real company? A read debt owed? Or just another scam to get my new credit card number?
Are they a real company? can they turn you into the credit B
They identify themselves as ADS which stands for American Debt Specialtists, a collections company in Florida.
