American reading club is a big scam. I know someone in collections there. She is rude and unprofessional!!!!!! To anyone out there, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! You will wished you hadnt, because they will make your life miserable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For 6 Months now these people have been calling looking for a different individual who used to own our cell phone number.  They won't take 'that person doesn't own this phone' for an answer

someone called my on my job and told my supervisor that its a fraud case, isnt it illegal to call my job and to tell them that? Isnt that defamation? the same people left a number 800 242-5548

Have   complained  to  the Attorney  General,  BBB  and the FTC.    This  company  constantly  calls and threatens  me with court  and  collection.

I'll admit I feel for the scam back in 2007. They promised all these magazines at a less cost than most retail stores and a vacation if you sign up. I signed up, then later sat down and actually crunched the numbers. I called about a week later and canceled my subscription to the club. Then months later I get phone calls, just like everyone else on here has, demanding money. I have explained to them countless times I canceled in the allotted time frame. They leave me alone for a few months then start calling again. I'm just going to change my phone number.

I recieved a call from this same number last night and they left me a voice message stating there was a warrant out for my arrest...not knowing what was going on ofcourse I called right back. they did not identify where they were calling from and I was told this " enjoy your stay in jail" "theres a warrant out for your arrest for commmiting check fraud"  "im on to your game samantha you have 15 mintues to get $1000 or the police will come arrest you where ever you lay your pretty little head" "have a nice night in jail bye!" then i was hung up on. so in a panic i went to the state police to find out there was no warrant on me and that its just a bill collector and that i need to file a complaint with the attorney generals office.  i was also told that the DA was after me and all this crazy stuff...so yeah it wasnt funny and i had a really bad panic attack from it and this company should really be shut down im glad im not the only one whos had this happen

They constantly call day and night and even on Sundays. They won't cancel nothing and they keep having their pre-legals call me that aren't even pre legals or they would identify themselves with their full names and ID numbers or something but they won't they refuse to give a full name. I refuse to give money over the phone to something I DONT EVEN WANT.. i have contacted the better business bureau so many times now it isn't even funny. I am tired of it all.

The tactic they used is a common and illegal one. They violated the RICO Act, which states that they "CAN'T" use coerscion by intimidation to make you do something. If they passed themselves off as attorneysor otherwise led you to believe they were, they need to be addressed. People like them need to be procecuted

he made me pay 800 dollars to settel the account
i have don;t even have the lawyer to hire i m really broke
but i managed to pay through my friends card

They called female left message stating that she was Tammy Edwards
She said I owed money and there is a serious matter or criminal charges will be filed. There were also other calls everyday 4 or 5 times a day. I made them give me a phone number and this is the one I called.  800-242-5548.

Got a call from that number stating about a claim in Atlanta, Georgia from a woman named Ms. Turner as well, and that a possible criminal charge may be pressed against me.  They also claim that I'm Tracey when I'm clearly not.

They called work and female left message stating that she was Ms. Turner with a pre-legal and there is a serious matter or criminal charges will be filed. There were also three other messages from an autmated system that gave the 770 number. She avised she was in Georgia. On the FCC website back in '06 the American Reading Comany was fined $680,000 for violating DNC laws. Also, they should be shut down just from the hundreds of complaints on the BBB website. Sad that they make a living calling you a crook when they are the ones in violation.

This establishment is a SHAM! Ask for Mr.Park, He isnt even aware of his company's name for he will not give it out. Also if people call you pretending to represent a pre legal or any type of government official they should be able to give you thier full name and supervisors name right?The American Reading club hmmmm... couldnt you be more creative with the name......IDIOTS!

This man called me, Mr. Boyd was his name. He told me that I was in deep trouble with American Reading club and that I owed them money! He wouldnt tell me what company he was with but did however tell me he was with some pre legal district or something like that. He told me I was a criminal, and that if i didnt pay i would be taken to court or go to jail. He told me I was a theif!

said i needed to return call or my attorney to clear up a matter or would be in deep trouble  from mr tom mabe

A lady called me at my work. Lady said her name was "Rosie".  Sounded very monotone.  Did not identify who she was with or calling from and asked that I call her back.
