Call a LOT. IF we all called this number at least 10 times a week and asked questions like who are you, where are you located, what type of business are you. The company would have to pay for the call and also pay an employee to talk to us. Then they may stop calling us!

called at 7:55 PM - caller id says "Toll-Free" I don't answer - no message left.
Steven r. 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
Caller ID said "toll-free". Rang 3 times, no message. Screw 'em, I don't answer calls without an ID.

I've reported this number and still I get these annoying calls everyday. They say they are a debit collector but I don't have any debt want personal information when calling. Reported to state attorney general in Washington state but still getting these calls. NOW what ? do I do
Dyann 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
Just did the same - followed the voicemail cues to opt out. Message said that while federal law allows 30 days to process the request ACS will make "every attempt" (whatever that means) to process request in the next few days.
Amanda 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
Call the number back, select the option to hear more info and there's an option to opt out of getting any more calls....says it could take up to a month to take your number off the list, but still better than getting the calls indefinitely.
Don Morey 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
Constantly getting calls from the number. If I pick it up, no one is there. Take away their phones.
Jennifer 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
I have 20 calls from this number from March 3 to March 23, a few twice in one day.
I have gone online to the cancer society to complain and ask to be put on their do not call list.
I have had no response; the calls continue...If there was a way to sue them to stop, I would
do it. I thought when we are on the do not call list that would stop this type of harrassment.
800-245-2577 I am searching for the CEO of the cancer society to see if that would work.
Audrey 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
I called the number; it is an Amer Cancer Society solicitation. If one follows directions you will get to a place where you can opt out. I do this because I do my donating with my local groups so my friends and family are credited for their efforts.
Recognized "charitable" organizations are not banned from soliciting by telephone by the rules of the DO NOT CALL LIST. However I believe I found another caller from a charity who would accept a do not call request. So perhaps the charities are "seeing the light"

3 rings and a hang up. I'm on the do not call list...calling early in the am...disruptive to my household.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY - SOLICITATION
hadit 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
American Cancer Society? Is this a legit business? Doesn't matter now. I am so fed up with all these types of calls that I will never ever give to them again thanks to their gestapo tactics. Think I'll get rid of all the phones anyway. The phone companies enable them to harass like this.
Wendy M. Grimes 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
this number frequently shows up on my Caller Id. I am growing increasinly annoyed by the continuous calls. I wish to avoid having any further contact from this number ASAP.
Andrea Kaufman 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
Calls every day at least 4 times.
WiseHumor 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
The best way to put them out of business is to find a cure for cancer.

Have been calling on and off for some time now. Have never left a message.
Mary 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
I just called it because I keep getting calls from this same number (800-245-2577) it is the American Cancer society.
cindy 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
calling non stop, I'm on the do not call list & i have a non published number-1st i'd like to know how they got my number then i'd like to know why the "do not call list" is NOT working!
Richard 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
Yup, A.C.S. is not only as greedy as any bill collector, but rude too. Wanted to speak to my wife. Told caller she wasn't home and asked who was calling. Caller hung up! Would like to see them put on the no-call list.
J. Kuhn 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
they say they are from the Cancer Society and would like ME to pay for 15 envelopes and deliver to my neighbors, they will supply the names...what the heck is this? I belong to the Cancer Society in Ocala FL and have never heard of doing this type of business...is it legit? Thank you!
iris 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
calls, leaves no message. hangs up after 3 rings
Anne S. 2011-06-06 20:57:21 Unknown
We get calls from this number, numerous times every day. "800 Service" pops up on Caller ID. No one is ever there when you answer. We just don't answer them anymore.
Frustrated 2010-04-17 15:30:43 Unknown
Just received another call. Have been avoiding answering for a long time. I havve volunteered in the past to the American Cancer Society to try to have friends in my neighborhood donate. Have told them many times not to call. I'll see if it continues now that I have pressed #1 then #3...
Mary 2010-04-09 23:46:13 Unknown
It probably is the American Cancer Society. I was "volunteered" by the ACS to write notes to my neighbors to solicit donations. I've done it a few times with very little response, so I don't want to continue doing this. But, once they've got your name and you've "volunteered", they will keep hounding you. I'm getting about one call a day.

Thanks for the tip on calling and having our number removed! Hopefully it works---it was nice to just dial the #1 and then #3 to by pass all the information. We have been getting 3-4 calls per week. Sundays and all.
Kristina 2010-03-27 15:27:39 Unknown
Sharon is right with one extra step: The recording tells you to press "1" for more information. Then you can press "3" to enter your number and be removed from their list. Everything else Sharon stated is correct! Everyone visiting this forum should do this!! Thanks Sharon for the info...
Sharon 2010-03-10 20:47:37 Unknown
I just made the call, and had to press "3" then enter my phone number to have it removed. The recording repeated the number, and stated that although federal law entitles them to 30 days for removal, they would make every effort to remove it within a couple of days....hope that happens!
pjlizard 2010-02-20 20:31:33 Unknown
Thank you so much for the information!! They are calling earlier and later as time has gone on and it has been very frustrating. I've opted out now and can't wait for the calls to stop.
Lolly 2010-02-15 18:36:24 Unknown
Thanks for the info on opting out, Dudley and Lar. Let's hope it works. When will the charities get it, that this is NOT the way to get donations or support!!
ROSE 2010-02-13 19:15:04 Unknown
THE PHONE COMPANY HERE SAID....SOME CHARITIES ETC. ARE NOT SHOWING THEIR NAME SO PEOPLE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE!!! THEY ALSO ARE USING LOCAL AREA CODES!! PEOPLE WILL NOT ANSWER WHEN THEY SEE A NAME THEY DO NOT WANT TO TALK WITH ON CALLER ID!! IT IS SO ANNOYING GETTING THESE KIND OF CALLS DAILY!!
