I got called and left with a message / phone# to call back.  This place has called many times about this person.  Its a womans voice and sounds exactly the same every time.

Before you go and reference a law, make sure you know what your talking about. I find it extremely funny how people bi*** and complain about getting calls from collection agencies and then write how they refused to pay a debt they owe. Calling family and friends is not illegal, Debt Collectors have the right to collect a debt. If you don't pay your bills you will be taken to court if the account is Statue of Limitations. So if you don't want to have your paycheck garnished call and work something out with the collectors, they are in a position to work out payment arrangements for you and can reduce your debt by only having to pay about 30% of your bill. If you can't handle owing money and want to cry about and make up fake stuff about bill collectors don't borrow money!

I keep getting calls from this company also. They leave a message for my name referencing a "case" involving a woman?s name of whom  I never heard. Several years ago we filed bankruptcy due to my husband's health failing and him no longer being able to work.  Also, there were the major  medical bills which came along with his declining health. Even with two insurances (one a state health plan hahahahah) it still was not enough for the various hospitals, treatments, ect. My income was not enough to cover everything so we had little choice but to declare bankruptcy.  Anyway, since then we have had no new debt. We have a bankruptcy payment which we make religiously each month, but no new liabilities. I can?t imagine why they are harassing me.  I am afraid to call back lest they verify that the phone number is a working number and call even more.

This all started about 4 months ago getting calls from GVA as stated above owed money offered me 50% settlement. I did not do settlement or payments my husband happened to lose his job around the same time. Skip ahead to early april they actually sued me for $4200. Now i get my check today and it is being garnished for 25% WHAT CAN I DO......I CANNOT AFFORD THIS I HAVE THE ONLY INCOME. PLEASE HELP ME CAN I DO ANYTHING?????

broke tim how did you make out with all that happened to you? I am dealing with the same problem now they won in court a couple months ago and now i am being garnished for $167 every week i guess thats the limit in my state NH. Originally they told me i could pay $150 per month on full balance or pay 50% of the bill which is about $5000 i blew them off and avoided them. My attorny said that there isn't anytyhing i can do about it. I sure wish i paid them the $150 a month instead of the $668 they are getting now.

HELP this company called me and i didn't pay when they asked now its 3 months later and ive been taken to court and my check is being garnished??????? they offered me a really good settlement and now i have to pay 3 times what they offered is there anything i can do about this???? i want to do the settlement now but its too late now dont be as stupid as me pay what you owe and dont suffer like i am going to have to for the next year my check is being garnished by 25%

They are a bottomfeeding Collection Agency out of New York.

Received a call from a Don at Tennessee Valley Associates, he left a reference number of 321039 and a phone number of 800-247-1993, I received the call at my home on 03/20/09 at 4:13pm. I called the number, he asked if 6145 was the last 4 digits of my social security number, I said no. he said what are the last 4 digits of your social? I asked why. he said is 6145 the last 4 digits of your son's social? I told him I didn't know. He said is your son's birthday 1965, I told him no. He then said he would take me off of his Contact List.

It's "Genesee". (as in Genesee River that runs through part of Western NY, including Rochester)

I've had multiple hang-ups on my answering machine all week before the message left today and I suspect the hang-ups were them, also.

even if you do know the person they're looking for, they're in violation of the Fair Debt Collection laws.  Calling family & friends is HARASSMENT!

Received a call from 1-800-247-1993 for a Dixie H. As this is a name most folks do not know, it raised a red flag when they said it was about a civil suit.  We know several Dixie H., but did not give out any info on them.  Later they called my son and tried to get info from him on Dixie and said that he had been listed as a reference (Big Red Flag).  They left the name Molly and reference number (524361)with the first call.  They say they are from __________ Valley Associates, coulod be Tennessee or Genese.  Beware

suebee you should try giving them a call....and explain your situation instead of avoiding it im sure they will work with you...as i said they have been the best one ive worked with so far....they gave me a great deal and were surpisingly nice and cordial....if its paid just fax them a copy of the proof...it will make things much easier for you....joe s

got called today as well they were extremely kind .....not like most  companies .....name of company is jeenesey valley....they were very helpful and assisted me with the issue i needed to resolve...give them and A+ for courtesy and kindness........joe s.

Caller left a msg asking me to return their call with a reference number they provided. When I called, they asked if I knew (person's name) and if I could get them a message.  I said I'd never heard of (person's name). They then offered a maiden name for the person & said they had me as a possible contact for her. They said they needed to contact her regarding a civil matter. I said "no" again & she verified the number she called me with & said she'd take my number off their contact list. Couldn't understand the name of the company, but something like "Genesy Valley".
