One more thing -- if you are female or are a male with a ''higher''-pitched voice, get some guy with a deep voice to record your phone's outgoing message. Don't identify your name, maybe just your phone number OR something like "You know what to do, leave a message.''

That puts science to work on your side: make your outgoing message one that communicates that you have already won the battle with the scammers. As this article points out, "A man who thought he was more dominant lowered his voice to emphasise his dominance and intimidate his competitor. Agreed -- DO NOT ANSWER if we don't know who is calling. Almost everyone has caller ID or can get it for a few $ a month. Remember, if NO ONE ANSWERS these calls, they will have STOP bcz their revenue stream will dry up. Now, off to add this phone number to my list of known SCAMs so I won't get tricked into answering it in the future. ?

This number called my cell phone at 11:13 this morning.  The caller ID did not display a name.  I rejected the call and no message was left.

June 23rd @ 9:21 am - I just found that they called again. I missed it from my last comment. I guess that is why it looked familiar to me.

This # seems familiar, but I could not find that I left a comment here, unless I missed it. In any case, I was not surprised that no message was left and if they don't leave a message, I am not answering. I don't know who is calling and since I am not expecting a call from this #, it will go unanswered.  Shows as 800 Service on caller ID. They called on June 24th @ 10:13 am. Leave a message and I might answer next time you call. LOL. In my dreams, a message will be left.

I've been very happy using "Who Are You" to block/identify these calls.  When I just received a call from this number, I got one ring and a pop up on my phone identifying this number as a known spammer.  I have the choice to "ditch" the call or hang up or answer.  If I ditch it, it gets added to a list of numbers (I don't know if there's a limit - I've been using this for a couple years now so there's probably 50 or so in there) that will no longer ring on my phone, and go straight to a message that tells them that this number is no longer in service. Once ditched, they can't leave a message, but you do get a record that they called if you look at your Call Logs.  I have an Android so you can get it in the GooglePlay store thing - am not sure if it is available for iPhone.  The service is free.  There are other services you can add via youmail.com, but I have not checked any of those out (and I don't think they are free).

Mr Number is a free app I put on my Verizon Android, it works great.

Got 4 calls today. I did not answer. Never left a message so I would assume not important. I put the number on my blocked numbers and within 20 minutes they called again (I get one ring on blocked calls.)

I received an unwanted call from this number, but I did not answer. The call actually came through with a different fake number in the caller ID info. The number shown was 451-667-5888. Area code 451 is not a valid area code. It is UNASSIGNED! This is not a real number. Some how, they are able to send an invalid and incorrect number for caller ID systems.  I believe the real number was actually 800-251-5850. That's the number that pops up if I try to return the call from the caller ID list on my phone. If they are trying to hide their number/identity, they certainly are not a reputable organization!

A app. that I use on my cell phone says and I quote " 1-800-251-5850 is not a valid number. If you are sure that you got a phone call from a number beginning with this prefix, the caller may have 'spoofed' caller ID."
I did not answer due to it being a 1-800 number, and they hung up without leaving any message.

I got a call from this number and they were very unprofessional.  When I asked where there were calling from, she said "my job".....they called at 9:15 at night and when I mentioned that, she rudely said " I know what time it is" .....then I asked what the call was for and she would not answer me. Very rude ......

I did the same thing and got the same response.  Hopefully this will work.

This happened to me for the very 1st time today. It coincided with me placing an order with Amazon! I feel it may be connected.

Unavilable, I answered, a deep voice Peggy asked for my wife, first, M.I. Last Name. I asked who it was and she said it would violate the hiipa laws to tell me.I told her it would violate 48 years of a very good marriage if I told her. She said "So where is she"?I told her probably out with one of her friends.That on Mondays we have an open marriage and both go out! She cursed at me said I was a liar I said you're right, but I know where she is! She hung up!

I have been using a program called Phone Tray Free. It's the best thing since sliced bread. It reads the caller id and you can set it to voice reply canned messages or record your own. I also now have a record of every call I have received since 2006. I have too many medical bills that I just cannot afford to pay. These people have become ruthless. My oldest daughter lives in England and has none of these problems.

Lol ..... Just because you are thrilled to do surveys doesn't mean everybody is!  Some (MOST) of us have better things to do with our time .... GEEZ!  And .... did you ever think that they might be casing your place ... to see when you are home and when you aren't and if you have a big, mean dog!?!  Duh!

Got a call from them, did not pick up

I told them nicely to take our name off list and they called me a n****r and hung up. I am so ticked off!!

Multipule calls from 8002515850, here lately exactly 8 pm at night every night. We have caller ID so we have never answered this call, who ever this is they really need to get a life and leave people they do not know alone..Geeeezzzz.

I've had this phone number for over 10 years.  When I finally did answer the call they asked for someone I've never heard of and hung up before I could tell them not to call.

This number called twice in one day, hung up when answering machine picked up, second time I answered, said take me off your list and slammed the phone down. Attempts to call it back result in a recorded spiel that they are not governed by the donotcall list since they are not selling anything and are asking for political opinions and that when they call again (not if, but when) you can ask the person to remove you from their list. I don't want to talk to anyone, why would I even attempt to talk to someone. There is no opt-out option.

That is the call I received, I told him I did not have time to do any survey's because it was Mother's Day and I was eating lunch with my children, he had the gall to ask why I answered my telephone. I didn't answer, merely hung up the phone.

go to the official  (on line) do not call registry and file a complaint.  Be careful to avoid fake do not call registry that want a fee .

I do not want to receive phone calls from this number. 800-251-5850.

This number has called me twice now, I'm on the do not call list.  Seems like they've been at this for a while, 4 years of complaints and no action to curb their practices.
