Incredibly annoying and relentless calls from "the State of Pennsylvania Business Development office". Always an Asian caller in broken English asking about our plans to move the business. I have asked repeatedly to be removed from their list. *69 tells me their number cannot be called automatically. Very frustrating!

I receive calls weekly from the "Oregon Business Development Office".  I politely tell them each time to put this (our) number on their do not call list.

Today I have HAD IT!  I pledge from this time forward to mess with these people each and every time they call me.  I will answer them nonsensically and with false information and pull their chain just so I can get some joy out of these irritating as heck calls.  I understand that this is just their job, but hey, I'm trying to do MY job and these calls are keeping me from doing it.

Okay...rant over. :)

A woman with a thick accent called today saying she was from the State of British Columbia Business Development something-rather.  First of all, British Columbia isn't a state.  She asked if we had already found a new location to move or we were still looking and I told her we haven't planned on moving since I started here a year and a half ago.

For over a yr we?ve been getting calls from dif ph #s asking if we were still planning to move (about the time we started talking about it). We used to get about 5 calls a week & it?s gotten down to 2. During the last 2, I took down the #s on the phone screen & called them back. Both times the ?call did not go through?. So I searched the #s on yahoo & there are TONS of identical complaints online sometimes from different states & different phone #s.

I asked them to stop calling a few times but they don?t stop. When I hang up on them or forward them to VM they call back. When I start asking THEM questions, they hang up. I started saying we weren?t moving & they continued with more questions. The last time I just wanted to get her off my back so I answered her questions about verifying our address.

I retorted that they got the wrong number anyways. Wonder myself who are these a***oles. Location Toronto, Ontario

We are getting same calls - Same person - Seems to be a game now to call everyday. Of course they do not know who they are asking for so easy to identify the caller because they are asking for a Mrs and the person is a man!

They said they were calling from the "State of Texas Development Office"  wanted to know when we were moving, and how many employees we had.  I could tell something was off so I put her on hold and told her I have an emergency and needed to call her back.  She gave me a fake call back number.  TOTAL SCAM!!

Called claiming to be from the State of Washington Business Development. I asked what branch of the State of WA that their company was affiliated with? She just stated that she was "with the state of Washington asking to "update my company information, i.e. address and phone number." I evaded giving any helpful answers to her. I did however explain to her that the information that she has is indeed very old information, and that if she were in fact employed by the state of Washington- why with my current Washington state master business license, my current L&I insurance, my current city licenses, and every tax agency in the state of Washington did she not have my current address in her all important business files? She apologized to me and said she would check her own files to find our address and see why it was not updated (lie)...*giggle*

These people just called my business partner here in Georgia on his cellphone number. It was a woman with a very heavy Indian (?) accent and poor English sentence structure. My partner had trouble understanding her and kept asking her what she was saying and what she wanted. He handed the phone to me and I couldn't understand much either. She was saying something about being from "Georgia developmentmental services" and "your corporation is moving their offices." My partner finally demanded "Let me speak to one of your colleagues because I just can't understand you," and she hung up on him.

Obviously it's a telemarketer. Our corporation doesn't even have an office! We work from our home offices. This type of call is a big waste of our time and very aggravating.

They have called a few times. Although the previous commenters say that they represent a state government office, I have noticed that they are careful not to say the "State of xxx" In my case they identified themselves as the Colorado development office. When I asked if they were a state agency, they repeated what they said.
I believe it is someone looking for commercial real estate leads..
Harmless, but annoying.

The same... A man with strange accent called to our office asking about the moving. He was so unrespectfull and rude. I hang up the first time, and he called us again telling me that I need to learn English. I said he needs to learn to be polite and hang up second time.
We are tired of this kind of phone calls all the time to our office. This is annoying..
Is there anything we can do about this kind of phone calls???

Have now received three calls in two days...  "Illinois Business Development Office"... after they get through their pitch/ask if we've found new office space yet... I tell them we have been called repeatedly and they need to remove us from their list immediately... of course, once I start saying we've been called repeatedly, they immediately hang-up....  Clearly this is NOT an offcial office through the state of Illinois... this people are AWFUL!!

These scumbags continually call. I usually just hang up becasue the calller is obviuosly an idiot reading a fixed script.

They claimed to be working for the State of Texas Business Development.

I asked for a supervisor name and phone number.

The gave me the phone number for a tow truck service.

I suspect these are scam artists working for real estate leads.

I asked them mail me the questions.

I received a call from this number (which you can't call back).  Curt was calling from the State of Illinois Business Development Office.  It didn't sound legit, so I asked if I could give him a quick call back.  He couldn't furnish  me with a call-back number.  I then asked where he was located and he said in Illinois.  I said of course he was and then asked where in Illinois and he hung up on me.

I get 1-2 calls from 1-800-254-8888 each week.

They claim to be from the state of Oregon but they refuse to answer any of my questions.

They want to know if we have moved our office or if we are interested in moving locations.

Whenever I ask for information about them they get confrontational and argue with me, then they hang up.

I have asked repeatedly to be removed from their list, but they still call.

In the background you can hear a lot of other people talking and the caller has a foreign accent that they are trying to cover up very hard.

I have no doubt in my mind that this is some sort of scam.

Claims to be from State of California and same thing as others...did you find a new location?  I have this web site up all the time and enter numbers before I even answer, so I said, "Let me tell you! What a time we had!"  She was all ears!!    I continued..." First we made a hop to the left. Then a jump to the right! Then we did the pelvic thrust! THEN we put our hands in tight..."  You get the jist. Being from India, she didn't quite grasp it.  Sure was fun!!  My office mate was peeking over the wall with out of hand curiosity!

Our phone sets have caller display. So we don't have to suffer their abuse. Don't waste your time on these low life scammers. Just press the answer button and hang up immediately or do something similar to what Nicole does. I always wonder how low one has to stoop as to defraud people.
