One of my supervisors received a call from "Bethany White" from "Merchant Services" and asked me if I wanted to take the call. It already smelled fishy, and I even haven't said hello to her yet. She repeated who and where she was calling from and told me that I was being overcharged on my merchants account (if I actually had one!). Time to have fun with Bethany...

Me: "Oh, which merchant account? I have 6 divisions and 52 billion in sales quarterly. I have many merchant accounts." (if it sounds too good to be true, you are right!)

<pause>

BW: "I just want to review all your accounts to make sure none of them are being overcharged." (oh, good thinking on your part, you greedy little piglet!)

Me: "Well, which one do you want to start with?"

BW: "Uh, the one with the overcharge...." (hehehe)

Me: "Tell you what Bethany, you are being quite vague."

BW "Oh, .... how's this?....can you hear me better?" (I had to quietly laugh at that one)

Me: "That's not what I am implying. You are being VAGUE, like you are trying to scam me for some information." (ok...I got other things to do)

BW: "I'm just trying to correct an overcharge on your merchants account."

Me: "Tell you what, I'll give you one more chance to ask about a SPECIFIC (non-existent) account, because I know you are a scammer!" (just had to stick it in her face one last time)

BW: "Ok, I'm going to hang-up now..." (how nice of you!)

My day just got a little brighter...

This is a scam.  I switched from merchant services several months ago as I was being over charged.  He said it was for bills for June and July.  We switched in March.  Why would I need to send over my statements if he was reviewing them?  Jerk!

Beverly Green  stated she was from Merchant Services and oversees all the Credit Cartd Processing Companies. Our small business was being overcharged at a 2.75% rate and should not be charged over 1.79% rate as put into law Oct 1, 2011...I asked her for her contact info 1 800 256-1038 ext 1002, asked her to hold and googled her phone# and my instincts were right. I returned to her and she wanted me to figure the overcharges with her so they could assist in recovering these overcharges from our card processing company. When I told her I was looking at what google brought up on her number and I didn't think she was the type of person I wanted to deal with-she hung up. Obviously a scam!

they called us from a telemarketing room...very sketchy people, asking for ss #'s bcz we had been having a problem my boss gave them all the info they were asking for (bad move)...they are definitely  a scumbag scam operation. The "Manager" Robert Groucher" (suspect that is not his real name) talked back to me, talked over me, yelled at me, and finally hung up on me, and then blocked our number after I told him I knew about the scammy nature of his business...so now we cannot even call in from our office number and they have all our information...Very Very Upset they are still allowed to do buisness

Major scam.  Some idiot just called about an overbilling.  I asked her since I've never overbilled, what is the rest of her lie going to be?  Silence.  I just love when these low life scum suckers call.

Well, looks like your post has been "red flagged" for being nothing but fraudulent tomfoolery.

More so, using the basic formula of common sense, it appears that you only have 1.79% of a brain.

Well now I'm going to stick myself into this situation.  She has every right in the world to call B.S. on you shills.  Shills coming to a consumer oriented site to plant fake information and deceive people is a concern of users.

I would politely suggest that you get away.  Your behavior is not tolerated in the community.  However, if you keep posting nonsense, there are many people here who will keep making you look foolish!

This lady was RUDE AND EXTREMELY BITCHY!

She called telling me that we have an overcharge on our merchant account.  I asked her to explain herself.  She said, "YOU. HAVE. AN OVERCHARGE. ON.  YOUR MERCHANT.  ACCOUNT.  IT'S A CREDIT CARD.  DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"  Really rude.

I told her that we do NOT have any credit cards regarding any merchant account and that she is making not a lick of sense to me.  She hung up.

Telemarketer/scammer/liar/bi*** whatever you want to call her, she's illegitimate.

This is a complete scam.  Do NOT give them ANY information.  The "issue" they "address" cannot possibly be connected to me or my business, so it is DEFINITELY NOT LEGIT.

I'm not sure I'm following your post.  You say "someone" called about you being overcharged on you merchant account.  You never stated WHO called.
Then, you state "i took that statement to my processor and guest they lowered my rate back at 1.79%" ...but never state who the processor is.

THEN, you're thanking CFMS.  -- For WHAT, I have absolutely NO idea, considering you didn't bother to state who ANY of the companies were in your post.  WHICH of these parties was supposed to be CFMS?

Better Business by Robb Hicken: Be careful picking a credit-card processor for your business
Published: July 9, 2013

The call came from a 1-800 number. The person on the phone claimed to represent Customer First Merchant Support.

"[They] stated we were being overcharged, at a corporate rate, and if I sent the information they would stop the overcharging for us," says Kelley Doogan of Insight Consulting in Boise. "They were asking me to send a statement from our credit-card processing company."

Customer First Merchant Support could not be found as a processing company. This appears to be a marketing call, a ploy to get billing information in order to make a sales pitch based on the current rates.

"I have received many sales calls, and I know credit card processing is a very competitive business, but no one has ever asked me to send them my statement," Doogan says.

Whether you're looking to make a switch or selecting a merchant processor for the first time, choosing a processor is an important decision and can be vital to the overall success of your business. The Better Business Bureau advises to be aware that this company is targeting the area.

If you receive such a call, ask the company three simple questions:

? Do I currently do business with you?

? Will you please give me a phone number where I can contact you, other than the 1-800 number?

? Did I contact your company for information or changes?

If the answer to any of these is no, hang up the phone.

So far this year, BBB has received more than 1,700 complaints against credit card merchant and processing services.

Accepting a credit card gives your customers options. They can charge a purchase and pay it off over time or use a debit card rather than write a check. By offering your customer these options, you open the doors to increased revenue.

Here's how the BBB suggests you find a processor:

Ask around. As with any important business decision, make sure to get at least three estimates and check a business' reputation at http://snake-river.bbb.org/Find-Business-Reviews. Ask other business leaders what service they use.

Know where to turn. Make sure the merchant processing service has a solid support team. Can you contact the company 24 hours a day? This is important to business owners trying to process a card outside of typical business hours.

Technical support is a must. It is vital to your business' success.

Try it out. Don't settle without a trial period. By making sure the merchant processing service you choose has a 100 percent money-back guarantee before selecting it, you can save yourself a lifetime of hassle. Does the company keep every promise it made to you?

Make sure every penny you spend is necessary. If you have a question regarding a fee you were charged, ask.

Staying competitive with other merchant services is the name of the game for processors, so they will want to keep you happy.

Not.

Just received a call from this same number. When I asked what the call was about, she said "it's about overcharges on your Merchant account". when I asked for more information, she said "it's the credit card machine you use". I said "we never have had this machine, nor do we plan on having one, we don't accept CC payments". she asked "are you sure?". I said "yes, after being here 9 yrs, I'm pretty sure.

Recieved phone call yesterday from this number, wanted to go over my merchant statement. They stated there had been a problem and we had been overcharged. Eventually they wanted me to give out personal info and also fax a copy of the statement. NO WAY. Hung up and called my merchant service company and they agreed they had their own copies of our statments and that this was a scam to get you to change companies or release your confidental information.

Me: "Oh, how interesting.  WE DON'T HAVE A MERCHANT ACCOUNT."

Scammer: *pause*  "Oh, I'm sorry to have bothered you, have a nice day."

Me:  "You too, happy scamming - idiot."  *click*

These people are scammers, he said was being over charged for my merchant services account, and i asked him to give me the information he had on my company and he could not do it. I then asked him what his companies name was Customer Service Merchant Services. Has nothing to do with us and once he found out we were a corporation he hung up on me.
