In my case definitely CIBC and not a scam... I forgot to make my monthly minimum and they called. Without realizing who the number was, I paid my minimum (through an online payment from my account at a different bank) and they stopped calling. Unfortunately for them there's too many unsolicited calls these days so I never answer any numbers I don't recognize. If they'd just leave a message or identify themselves on call display as "CIBC" instead of just the phone number, we could have resolved my missed payment much earlier.

Folks, how to convince a person with all those s****y lies? Tell the lie that cannot be distinguished from truth; eliminate the all doubts & evidences that will likely find their way out.   I'm pretty sure that some of the scammers posted positive comments in here.

These callers, are not collections, it's financial service reps who are paid to proactively help you with your banking.
You'd be stunned at the people paying high banking fees or other ridiculous nonsense, if there's nothing on your file that needs help or anything, they may tell you about some promotions, and they'll wish you a great day.

If you wanna hear a human, wait an extra few seconds, she might even be cute.

GRosely dishonest... everything is paid... furthermore they call me and I have to confirm, BS tell me what is up. After I confirmed everything, their information/reason for calling was WRONG and they accused me.

I will clear this with CIBC and going to go with Scotia, I deal with Scotia once in 1992, for something I forget what, The ladies was uber sweet. I am through with this.

Well it is a legitimate number from CIBC. However I would highly dispute the comments about it being "professional".  In two days I got no less than 13 calls. This was right after I had realized that I had missed ONE payment on my CC.  I called the bank to advise them that I had moved, give new address and new phone number, and that I was aware I was late and would make a payment on Friday.  As soon as they got the new number the calls started the very next day. No messages, just calls from 1-800 number and eventually very late in the evening on the first day a message saying "CIBC, important that you call us back".   And then the calls started again immediately the next day - don't even give you a chance to call back!  This is absolute harassment. This is not a collection agency, it is a department set up by CIBC to harass people.

In all honesty.....people "assuming" they know why they are calling shouldn't be posting here.  If you did receive a call and did answer it and can actually provide accurate details then leave your findings here. Ticks me off when people try to guess what the call is all about.

I am 10 days late on a payment. I get it...they want the money...but the calling is just foolish...they call about 15 times a day and no message. I told them five months back that they could leave a message on my machine. She said she would put it in the system, clearly that never happened. They also tell you that they have no records of all those calls being made, of course the machine made them, I have proof on my home phone and my cell phone that they call that many times a day. It is them, do not let them tell you that it is not. I have worked for banks before and we were never so harassing as CIBC are. It should be illegal what they are doing. One call a day with leaving a message is good enough. The Mastercard that I have was with another company until CIBC bought them out, I never had one call from them. I am hardly ever late but when I am they start the calls about 5 days after the payment was due. It goes on your credit 30 days after it is late...not 5 days late so why call you minute after minute and one phone to the next. It is just horrible. And to the idiots on here who write..."Pay your bills" when you have so many bills it can be hard to catch up and if you are not on here to write something about the company then mind your own business and go back to doing another unproductive thing for society :) So to clue up...they just need the one call and leave a message. I would call them back if they did that. I have had one of the callers become extremely rude with me one time as well. They are just a horrible company, bank with anyone else if you can, like I said...my card was not originally with CIBC. It should be illegal :(

Hi just want to let you all know that it is CIBC's number on CIBC's website but I believe it is actually a scammer calling you.  The reason I know this is because they have been calling me every 40 minutes yesterday and when I picked it up after work, there was no one speaking on the other end.  I hung up the phone and thought that was strange.  It called again 10 minutes later and I tried talking to them and again no answer.  So I phoned the number back and it has an automated response that its CIBC.  I got a hold of a customer service person over the phone and I told him what happened and he looked up my phone number and he said there is no records of calling me.  Then he proceed to ask me if I have any CIBC accounts and I said I do and he then proceeded to ask for my account information.  I obviously didn't give him that information not knowing if he is in fact CIBC or not.

If you have a CIBC account, you should either go to the actual branch to speak to them about your situation or go onto their website and e-mail them a private message.  That's what I plan to do if these calls persist.

I have received 10 calls from this number since 8 am today and it's only 2:15 pm. There is no message, they call early on the weekends and harrass me to no end.

I know it's CIBC and I know it's collections however, blood from a stone.

This kind of harassment should not be tollerated and should truely be illegal.

Got a call from this number twice yesterday and missed both calls.  (on my work and cell phone) It called again twice today (once on business and once on cell phone) but again I missed both calls.  They called my cell phone again this afternoon and I was nearby and heard my phone ringing so I actually picked up and said hello but had no response.  So I hung up.  I don't have a credit card period let alone one with CIBC but I did back in the spring get my overdraft limit increased (yes I do bank with CIBC).  However I meet all obligations for that (I pulled out the agreement last night they sent me to be sure) so I'm not entirely sure why they are calling me.  I will answer again the next time they call in hopes that there is an actual person on the other end of the line that will answer me back.  If not, I will call CIBC Customer Service and ask what is going on.

This number called me twice yesterday and I missed both calls.  Once on my business phone number and once on my cell phone.  It called again today this morning on my business phone and cell phone and again I missed both calls.  It called again just a few moments ago on my cell phone again and I was actually near my phone and able to pick up.  However when I did, there was no response despite me saying hello.  (maybe they didn't hear me but my phone says the number originates from the States...hmmm).  So I just hung up.  I do bank with CIBC however I don't have any credit cards with them (or any credit cards period) however I did several months back have my overdraft limit increased.  Perhaps it has something to do with that?  I do meet the terms of agreement though with that and always pay back whatever amount I use of my overdraft.  They don't leave a message and I'm not afraid to speak with them which is why I answered my phone several minutes ago.  Oh well I wont worry about it unless they continue to call and don't respond to me when I answer my phone again.

This number called and said it was CenturyLink, and had permission to update our business account. The man on the other end of the line proceeded to tell me that they had spoke to the owner of the company, and "they" had made arrangements for our long distance rates to be discounted. False. The owner of the company did no such thing, and had the arrangements already been made, why are they calling back to talk to who ever answers the phone? Scam!

This is CIBC collections and it is a pain in the butt as they will call you over and over again looking for information on past employees who left this number as their work number.  A past employee owes money and they call you looking for them.

Please stop calling my fax line.  The fax has no telephone receiver so you are just wasting your time.  I do not owe CIBC any money and they have my home phone number.  Cease and desist.  This is very annoying.

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I keep getting these calls too. I do not have ANY credit products with CIBC and when I answer, it is dead air. If they get my voicemail, they ask that I call the 800 number. I have contacted CIBC and waiting to hear back from them

This number was calling me about 3-4 times a day that has increased to about 3 times an hour! No voice mails ever so clearly it isn't urgent. I am highly annoyed, and seeing here that its CIBC is more puzzling as I do NOT bank with them nor would I ever!

This number was on my call display at work, for two days in a row. Not being a CIBC customer, I called to get more information. Turns out my number was used by a former employee who used to have the same number. They've updated their records; friendly and helpful.
