I received a valid call from Comcast on this number today. Basically it was a warning call that I was approaching my Internet cap limit for the month (300GB), which is true since I checked my account and I'm at 270GB, so yes, it's a real Comcast number.
Do not call 206-353-6321
3 calls within a minute
it was Comcast, i didnt pick up, they left a message asking if i would to schedule an earlier installation date than the one i requested.
They called me about 7 mins ago and I dont answer at all
1. 90% of you guys are idiots. 2. ITS A SCAM!!! 3. Stop blaming comcast it's not their fault. 4. I know it's a scam because A. It's obvious B. I've never had comcast in my life and C. Notice a trending pattern in them asking for money.... lol smh I completely understand why some people never make it to success, so gullible and ignorant, also common sense people!! Come on!! Please start using better judgement and do not by any means give them personal information, credit card, social security, ect. ..
Not sure about others but in my case it was indeed Comcast. How do I know for sure? Because I had experienced high speed internet service connectivity issues over the extremely hot weekend here in California. I called Comcast to put in a service request and the automated system recognized my service area was having issues and assured me I will receive an automated call to confirm the issue had been resolved. It was just that, no request for CC or account info - just the generic message stating my high speed internet issues had been resolved. Now I'll just have to wait until the next heatwave to see if theyre lying or not.
It's Comcast. They called in a reminder of a scheduled appointment.
you need to learn how to not be a brain dead moron and learn how to both spell, and use proper grammar. especially if your going to talk down to people.
OK this was a painful post to read. This number called my office and said there was a security issue, provided a ticket number and left a secondary call back number 888-565-4229; which with a little research you will find that number associated with auto insurance scams, life insurance scams, and a whole host of other. The caller ID did show Comcast on it with the Comcast Number. With a Null Modem adapter I can make a Magic Jack say anything I want on your caller ID.
So don't always believe the information on caller ID.
If you think it is a scam, call the company the people perpetrating the scam claim to be representing. It is important to call them back on the primary contact number, not an alternate that was provided to you by the scam. Give them, in this case Comcast, the information given to you by the people perpetrating the scam. Then follow Comcast's instructions.
Always follow your instinct and follow up with the company that someone running a scam claims to represent. Also file complaints with your State Attorney General.
Stop calling I do not answer unknown calls to me, i am on the do not call list--Have a great day and get a job!!
Just got a call from 800 266 2278 and do not pick up the phone let it keep ringing, Have listed in my cell phone all the calls made to Comcast and this number is not among all their numbers. For the past 3 days there has been trouble on my phone line and internet service, because someone was hacking into my phone and internet through DSL. The US light was on and notified Comcast immediately they became concerned over my issue. The DS and US lights were on orange this meant someone was hacking into my modem, this problem was resolved and with the technical difficulty it took the technical department a longer time then usual to resolve the issue. Am pleased with Comcast because they worked efficiently and professionally to attack the hackers who were messing with me. Will not pick up a number unless it is recognized by me and especially if the call comes through restricted. All the people who have my number it comes up on caller i.d. Hope the hackers finally got what they deserve a virus on their computers, had to spend bucks to get my PC fixed and there are so many corrupt and criminal minded people in the world it is saddens me. What happened to obeying the Commandment "Thou Shalt Not Steal." So sorry because thieves and robbers don't obey this Commandment and go by their own selfish and worldly greed and work for Mr. D (the enemy, called the devil), in this world may not pay for their actions but after death there is no getting out of hell, for these souls will burn forever and ever. God bless all who are going through difficult circumstances with their phones, internet or cable, just give Comcast a chance because their techs will get to the source of your problem it could be someone living right next door or
someone in your apartment building trying to bleed and suck off you like a vampire.
sucker OR scammer you!
why did you give an unsolicited caller, your
that's exactly enough for an Identity thief so they can use it to open new credit cards. against you.
So either you are big sucker OR
You are a scam artist yourself.
They just called my cellphone, no idea how they even got that number. The voicemail they left was telling me that my security service connection had been disconnected, and I needed to go to www.comcast.net/restart to restart the connection.
But of course, I don't have Comcast security....
almost Got scammed
This is a SCAM... NOTHING ELSE.:
This is somewhat sophisticated attempt to steal your credit card information -
I finally answered this call, my caller ID said 800 266-2278. (which brought me here to this forum).
Summary of events.
1) First, there was recorded messages saying that this call would be recorded for customer quality...
2) immediately some one really nice and professional answered sounding said my Comcast bill was $169.15 over due and
asked for my credit card information over the phone.
3) I didn't remember if I had a balance(or whrn I paid my last bill), so I asked if I can just pay it online?
they said yes you can. But they would not charge a service fee.
4) then after talking a little, I decided to pay it myself online and hung up.
5) then I logged into my account and the balance was $0.0.
6) I almost gave my credit card info. Lucky I didn't else I would be cancelling my credit card, and all the problems with trying to fix it up.
I received a call from number 800-266-2278 and I never answer these calls from identified numbers. I really don't want to get this one again.
I have gotten numerous calls from this number. Answered it twice and both times they asked for someone I do not know. I told them no such person lived here and could not understand how they could have a different name associated with my phone number. It was suggested I call Comcast directly, which I did. No other name but my own is associated with my phone number, which leads me to think this is some kind of fraudulent call, using Comcast as the Caller ID.
They actually do leave a message, but the automation isn't smart enough to wait for your voicemail so you get one word or less and then silence/static.
Got several calls from this number. It is Comcast, they had the wrong # punched in but were trying to confirm an appt. that I didn't have.
I hate to pierce the bubble of those who say it is a scam (they are right, however, spoofed numbers can easily be made to use Comcast's number). I am a Comcast customer, and did not make a service appointment or an install. Why would Comcast be calling? To remind me a payment is due. You can check this out by determining when your billing cycle ends, and whether Comcast thinks you have not paid for 30 days.
You should never do business with blind calls, and if you are not a Comcast customer or do not have any bills due, by all means report them.
bothered again n again
this # 1-800-266-2278 started calling at 8am then after every half hr .a bit too much !!!! if it were legit from comcast why not leave a message?!!!!!! this has been happenings for at least 6 months.all though it is not every day.it is still annoying!!!!!!!!!
this number calls but doesn't leave a message. how could someone call this number back if they don't recognize this number or they don't leave a message.
For me, it was Comcast - an recording confirming my appointment.
Since it seems to be a general Comcast number, it can clearly be a different reason for different people.
I had these same calls. These were generated by my alarm system. I had lost power and my alarm did not connect back to xfinity correctly. If you have an alarm...this may be your issue. Just an FYI!
I agree Robin. I had no appointment and I get these calls.
Why would they call me to confirm an appointment if I didn't make one?
Richard in Minneapolis
A couple of days ago someone took out a power pole on my block and disrupted power to 4500 people and Comcast.
It left a message on cell phone - which I must have given to them once. They left a message telling me service was restored.
This phone number matches the one that shows up on the tv when service is out - that is - 1-800-COMCAST.
It is Comcast calling to let you know your past due on bill..
sounds like a scam to me to access computer information - it it were legal Comcast would identify itself when calling in.
800-266-2278 - calls made to my number which is a business and hangs up - multiple occassions really a nuisance - no message left and I do not call back
