I don't know WHAT the DEAL is- but BOTH the 800-266-7073 and the 602-537-9011 numbers call my home number EVERY day- at LEAST 5 times daily and while most of the time they don't leave any messages, at least once a day there is a message from a stern man telling me that it's "American Express regarding an important matter and you need to call back immediately- this is not a telemarketing call. " I DONT have An AMEX card or account!!! If this was in ANY way legitimate- why would they use 2 different numbers, call from each one numerous times daily and sometimes leave a message, sometimes not- yet NEVER identify YOU by name?? It's aggressive, frustrating and ANNOYING. It needs to stop NOw.

My husband has exact the same issue.  I 100% believe the bank sold our information to them.  How do these scams know my phone number, his work phone,.. when they call looking for my husband? Only the banks ask for these info. when we try to get mortgage.

Your delusional and angry. Its a phishing expedition to gain your personal info. They use a known legitimate company with the belief that at least one of the many thousand phone calls they make will be a AMEX customer. They hope that they will find someone gullible enough the give them the info they want.
When I told them I wasn't an AMEX cardholder they acted as if they were trying to find my account by asking for my social security number. When I said "you called me; whats my name?" They stumbled over their response and then forgot how to speak English.
In response to your assertion that people go on credit card spending sprees and dont pay the bills, I ask you; if you recieved the same phone calls and dont believe its a scam then are you the person who spent and didnt pay?

I have been getting calls from this number every day and they call as early as 8:30 A.M. and 9:00 P.M.  It is getting to be nothing but a headache. I know I owe them and I have already sent a Payment. They have not gotten it yet. They have been calling from different numbers. The caller ID comes up as UNAVAILABLE with 800-266-7073. The number 602-537-9011 comes up as American Express, caller ID comes up as UNKNOWN NAME UNKNOWN NUMBER so how can you believe if this is ready American Express. You don't know if it a scam. If they keeping calling I am going to file a complaint with the attorney general office.

They called me every half hour without leaving a voice message except a few times a "hello" in an Indian accent. They also held the silent message very long that my mailbox was full. It's very annoying. Any suggestion to stop this would be greatly appreciate.

Thank you.

This is American Express on a RECORDED LINE calling me on one of my corporate cards. Called our office manager and she said she sent the payment a day late for the first time since 2004. The balance is high, but a day late and they call 6 times a day even on Sundays? I have Discover, Visa , Mastercard. some of which have balances higher than this and have paid a few days late. No problem, they whack me with a late fee, but they don't call me on every number they have for me throughout the day. They don't call at all.

Amex is a POS company who doesn't care about their clients. All they care about is getting their money, which is understandable. However, why doesn't discover do this? The service used to be so awesome with AMEX. Now they treat us like a number rather than human beings.

I went through their travel service last year and bought 2 tickets. One has the life insurance and baggage protection and the other one didn't need it. I told them I only wanted it for me, my companion declined it. They said "Sure, no problem." Well, sure enough they had it on there and billed me for it. I called them back and told them, they said it doesn't show that I requested that.

This company has gone from one of the greatest to one of the worst. CITI bank used to be like this.

The best cards are Discover and Chase.

AMEX blows huge chunks.

So I called them and asked them to only use the main office number and not roll it to my house line and cell phone when there is an issue and their response....

"SIR, can if we receieve a payment from you over the phone, we can waive the late fees."

I say, "The check is already out."
"Yes, but if you give us your banking information..."
I interrupt, "I just want you to remove the personal numbers for my corporate AMEX"

They say" We have the right to call any number we have on file for you to collect a debt when your account is past due. We have an account on file. I can put it through and I can note the account not to process your check when it arrives."

WHAT?! "Look, don't call any of my personal numbers."

"Sir, you have an outstanding debt, if you paid your account on time, we wouldn't have to call you. If you authorize me now, the calls will stop. Otherwise, even if we get the check tomorrow, it probably won't stop the calls for 24-48 hours."

WHAT?! "You're joking!"

"No, sir. Now do I have your permission to process this payment to bring your account current?"

I say, "Um, no...I'll tell you what. I'll put up with your harassment for a couple of days until you get the check. Then I will transfer the balance out to another card and stop using AMEX entirely."

They say, "We're sorry to lose you, but if you authorize a payment we can avoid all of this."

I say, "You have a one track mind. Why aren't you listening to me? I'm really fed up." CLICK

I am done with AMEX. They can shove all of their business up their you know whats and I will encourage my clients every time they offer me an AMEX to process their payment if they can please use Discover, Mastercard or Visa and not American Express. Then I will tell them how terrible they are.

AMEX, your days are numbered. You will go the way of AOL, and the rest of the dinosaurs that got too big for their britches!

SAYO NARA!

Received a call on my home phone and then later on my cell phone. No reply when I answered my home phone so I hung up. They called my cell later while I was at a gas station traveling. Said they were American Express. I told him I was traveling and it was a bad time. He said last month's payment is late and he had my bank info and just needed my birthday to verify. Told him no since he called me and I couldn't verify him and I would call AMX when I returned home later so I know who I am talking to. I hung up. Called AMX when I returned home and paid my bill. Customer service verified the earlier calls were from them and not to worry about a scam.

It's not a scam! The companies are looking for their money.  When we take credit cards, we go on a shopping spree, but when it's time to pay, everyone is screaming "SCAM". It's the truth.

This number is not Amex.  I called back and it was a man's automated voice. If you are truly a Amex cardholder, then you would know what the Amex automated voice sounds like and that is not it.  Won't be answering that number anymore.

Calling our Verizon cell#. We do not answer. They do not leave a message. Older info on this number says it is allegedly a scam to steal $$$ from your bank account (claiming an AM Ex C Card bill past due).

If it is indeed AmEx or their official agents, it MUST be a scam as I have not had an AmEx card for almost 10 years and I owe nothing to them.

I have been receiving calls from 800-266-7073 for the last several day at various times during the day and night. I cannot believe if it is a legitimate call from American Express per BING search that they would not leave a message. I would like the calls stopped.

I called them back the people NEVER have an american accent. Plus why would they ever ask for your full account information? Don't give them your information. I told them to stop calling my number and if they didn't they will have a suit on their hands. This is the 3rd time I have done this....

This number has called my cell phone every day for the past 4 weeks.  It is an automated message but most of the message was cut off by the time you say hello.  They just tell you their working hours and then hangs up.  I called the number back and they identified themselves as American Express. They asked for my account number.  I told them I do not have an account with AMEX.  He then asked for my social security number. I laughed and said, why would I give you my SS #? He said to pull up my account.  I told him I do not own an AMEX card and do not have an account number.  He then said he could take my cell number.  I gave him my cell number and then told him that now that I have given him my number that I am requesting him to take me off their "call list" or that I would turn them in to the FCC.  I told him that my cell phone logs all calls and I have the proof that I called him.  I shall see what happens.

These jack***es have been calling nonstop for MONTHS, all hours of the day and night, and will not stop! We don't owe amex anything, so if it really is them, they have no reason to call here. If it's scammers, they're not getting any info from us! How the hell can I get them to stop????
