I keep receiving calls from companies wanting me to order magazines over the phone. Some have told me it was to renew magazines I already have. I keep telling them I will not give information over the phone. One was rude telling me my information would not be secure if I did not order. I gave them fake information of course. Today a different person actually gave me a phone number...800-269-4179. They offered me 250 dollars worth of gift cards this time. They told me the company they use for the gift cards was www.eoutsourcing.com. I could not find that company online. Scammers. These people need to be stopped.

Total scam!!! They took $50 without my permission for some unknown magazines! Called company to cancel and they refused to answer my question of what the name of the company is or what kind of magazines they think I purchased. Answered phone saying "customer service" no name. Asked to be transfered to a manager and she refused me and flat out said no!! Canceled my card & will be getting a refund !! Do not answer this number !!

Can they in fact try and ruin your credit if you stop payment?  I have been trying to cancel and they stated it was past my 7 day window which was never stated in the conversation.  They stated that you can cancel at any time.

Had UNAUTHORIZED withdrawal from my bank account TODAY by someone using the SAME PREAUTHORIZATION # (020799) used by READERS SERVICE yesterday.  I DID NOT AUTHORIZE ANYTHING ELSE TO BE TAKEN OUT!!  Also, today I had another phone call from someone listed as just "New Call" and DID NOT reveal any actual phone #.  Guessing it's same one as ONE of Readers Service's phone #'s used yesterday to call me.  Additional phone #'s used to call me are: (352) 688-3689, LOCATED in Brooksville, FL--IMMEDIATELY had an operator message on it ever since they called me on it YESTERDAY.  It says "This # has been changed to an unpublished #"; (352) 792-1325, LOCATED in Gainesville, FL--has had only message on it saying, "There is no one here to take messages"; (800) 269-4179 LOCATED in FL (doesn't specify city)--this is the # showing up on online bank statements.

Just FYI.  Thanks.

Try contacting your state's AG's office Consumer Protection Division, tell them your story and see what they advise. I suggest filing fraud charges with your card issuer and replace the card so you don't lose more money. If you start getting collection calls, check your credit report to see if this scammer has reported this fake debt to the credit bureaus and contest it. I gather that people were offered a free $100 Walmart card, had to give credit card info for a small shipping fee and then strange charges (like this magazine) began appearing on their card statements. This is a version of the automatic debit scam as described by the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel06.shtm  When I had a free $5 Walmart card, it came in the mail. Walmart is a big corporation and can afford to pay for first class postage to give you a free card to get you to shop at Walmart. Sorry you folks were hit with this scam, best of luck.

Just happened to me today.  I am SOOOOOOO STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was able to verbally leave ONLY ONE real message asking to cancel and refund.  This phone number was the one I found on my bank account withdrawal statement online (800) 269-4179.  Looked on my cell phone for #'s they called me on.  They called me 4 X's.  One call only showed up as "New Call" & had no actual # showing, so I could not even TRY to call that.  I found another number the SELLER called me on and there was an operator's message saying "Number changed to unpublished #".   The last # was one the SUPPOSED SUPERVISOR called back on for the seller's personal "rating".  When I called that #, of course it said "No one available to take call".  Hope my trying to stop payment works.  Doubt it, though, PLUS it will cost a $25.00 fee and I'll probably get scammed for the rest of the scam "agreement".

Good luck everyone!!!!!!

After you cancelled your card, did anything happen to you? I cancelled mines last month, but I'm still getting magazines from them, its ANNOYING. I was told I couldn't cancel both different times I called, not to mention when I asked for someone higher up than the girl that I had to talk to, I had to wait 5 minutes on hold only for her to come back on the phone and say the supervisor was busy and would call me back. So then I get a phone call from a totally different number and no voicemail.. you'd think a professional would leave a friken voicemail... BUT BACK TO MY QUESTION, did anything happen, like having to deal with debt collectors? Not saying that I am now, but I'm kind of worried they might pull something like that on me...

I agree that this is a total scam.  The advertise a free $100 walmart gift card, then try to hook you in for $60.00 worth magazines.  I even had not answer my phone to their number but used a different on and just been released from hospital and not really aware of what was going on.  Then the person I called said that she would get it canceled, so I will see what happens.  The are trying to get away with two different charges.

I was also a victim of this damn scam! I just called my bank today and canceled my card and they are going to start an investigation into the scam. I'll get my money back from my bank but still, I will NEVER EVER trust something that was too good to be true EVER AGAIN!

Ordered a group of magazines and the ones coming are not the ones I ordered from them.  Called the 800 number to correct that.  Of course I called on a saturday and they are open only from Monday to Friday.  I was quite disappointed to see that a few messages were posted on here that it's all a scam for my $39.90.  Operater said "Thanks for calling the magazine Service".  hmm

Debt Collector
Scam operation that takes orders for magazines and does not deliver.  Then comes back months later with threats to ruin credit if you do not make back payments for magazines not sent.
