Unfortunately, the Police cannot take any action on debt collection agencies.NCO is a third party collection agency and they purchase on very old/delinquent accounts. As per Federal law, they can call for collection of debts.BUT the glitch is to not take it to harassment and NCO has quite a malicious reputation for that. If they say you owe a debt, ask for a debt validation letter. Be clear without promising or committing to anything. Ask for the debt collector's name and  the mailing address (Even if you know it).High chances of debt collector refusing but tell them that without knowing who and from where the call is from, you cannot proceed under the FDCPA USC 15 Section 809(a). If they do not cooperate, simply hang up.

If the harassment extends, tell them that under the FDCPA USC 15 Section 809(a) you will expect a written contact from him within five days. At this point hang up telling him that you would resolve the issue after receiving the written contact. You should also mention to him that under the FDCPA they should not contact you over the phone unless he does not receive a letter from you.
All this, if you doubt the validity of your debt. If its very old, then check the statute of limitations in your state.At any cost never give out any kind of personal information like checking account numbers, bank account info etc., on phone. If you are making settlements take written proofs.No verbal agreements ever.If you genuinely owe the debt and are making payments do it only through money orders and never via phone. In any case, if its NCO thats calling do be cautious.

My boyfriend received these calls day in and day out. So I called the number back for him, told them they were pissing me off with the calls and that it was becoming very annoying. The "company" asked for the # they were calling and I read it to them. Then they asked for my name. I gave them my name so that it would seem as if they had the wrong person. They then apologized for having contacted the wrong number for a particular person and assured me that my number would be removed from their lists (they have an 866 # as well and I told them I wanted it gone from their company) and that within 24 hours the calls would stop. Should the calls not stop they'll be hearing from me again.

They have called several times, left message identifying themselves and saying that they are calling regarding an outstanding debt. I don't have any but a relative that lives with me is really running from all debt collectors and I am trying to have him evicted. I have a lawyer's appointment tomorrow and hope to get rid of this sleazy character asap. Otherwise, if they think I owe them they are totally incorrect.

They've been calling and leaving harassing messages on my ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD'S phone.  I wrote them a letter telling them to stop harassing him or I would seek legal assistance.
Our family doesn't even use credit.  Everything we own is paid off, so it completely infuriates me to have a debt collector harass my child (although, I'll bet he'll think twice before misusing credit as an adult!)

Have called me for over two years.  Asked to have information sent to me to give to my accountant and receive nothing.  Time passes and they start calling again.  Have read this number is a fraud company and would like information to sue them for harrassment to have calls stopped.  Would like the news to do a report on them.

these people never stop,they ask for someone that do not live here. thay start calling 8 am and keep on calling until 9pm .i never answer my pnone you woud think they would stop,

Since I have caller ID I always know who's calling.  I never answer such calls.  I either let it ring or cut off the call in mid ring.  They are NOT debt collectors.  They are con artists, ripoff artists, thieves!

Got a call from this number today. It was the automated call that many others have reported from NCO Financial. They are junk debt buyers/collectors. The debt they are trying to collect on me is past the statute of limitations in the state of Missouri. Therefor its illegal for them to try and collect it. They continue to do so I will sue them in court for violation of the FDCPA.

Mu caller id showed 800-273-6816.(I looked this number up on google and found that it belongs to a bill collector NCO). I do not have an answering machine and they let the phone ring a good thirty (30) times before hanging up.  I do not know why they are calling me as I have excellant credit.  Before my answering machine broke, they would call at least 3 times a day. Most times the phone numbers changed (unavailable, and other 800/866 numbers).  I am writing this today because of how many times they let the phone ring. I quit answering 800/866 numbers because of the solicitation. In addition I am on the DNC list.

1-800-273-6815 Toll Free Service on my caller ID. When I answered a woman asked for my deceased spouse (mispronounced his name) and I told her he has been deceased for over 2 1/2 years now. She said she was sorry to hear that and hung up as I did not encourage any further conversation.

800-273-6816 has been leaving messages on my answering machine for about 2 months.  After doing my research online, finding out that NCO is a fraudulent collection company and that they had a suit filed against them for which they settled in the millions of dollars, I do not return their calls.  I have no outstanding debt and have always paid my bills on time.

I have been getting calls from NCO Financial system robot just about everyday and still write them down each time they called and the times.But they do not leave messeges on my answering machine.They would call me and automated saying these people I don't know.Who ever had this number before I got it should have given their real number and leave me alone.Please stop calling me for these people I do not know!!!! 1-800-273-6816 have been calling my number too many times 7:58am to 10:00pm and I answered it and it call for other people I never heard of...Whoever had my number before should've call them instead of me having to answer it and they tell me about their business.

I called these people back and they got mad that I didn't know the party they were trying yo reach.

I alerted the local police about being bothered by these A**-HOLES.

they called an repeatly call i have no debt becaused i have not received any certified letter in writing i dont know if its a scam or not but i been receiving off an on calls from this company for more than three years. not to long ago another scammer called saying the same ting until i realize they were a scammer. bummer when i told them about the fdcpa and actually followed up with my attorney general. an put out an complaint. so dont let these scammers get u for what you dont have to give them in the first place. hope this help you out some>
