Got a call from Verizon financial services. Called back the number and entered zip and phone number. Got suspicious becasue I was cut off. Don't know if I was scammed but did call Verizon and had my account notated and a password applied. You know.. figured something was wrong with the bill or something.. dumb

I get a call weekly from these guys. My phone is on the DO NOT CALL LIST. I don't even pay for the account my phone is on, my dad does, so I'm not sure what this is.

Got repeated calls from this number, twice a day for several days. Message said to call Verizon Financial Services at 800-277-4542. Called *611 from my Verizon phone and they transferred me to financial services. Turns out my cell phone number was listed as the home and work numbers on someone else's account and Verizon was trying to contact them about a late bill. Customer service corrected the information.

Got the same message from the 949-286-3311 to call the 800 number. Called 611 from my Verizon phone. They said it really is their financial services and Verizon connected me directly. It is BAD practice !!! And I complained about it for whatever good that will do. My bill is just fine as well.

Ok.  I received two of these calls to my house, even though my cellphones are through my business.  I began to freak out.  I had called and put in a portion of my information -- so I double-freaked out.

So, I remained calm and called 611 from my cellphone (guaranteed Verizon).

They started assuring me everything was ok -- but I wasn't satisfied.  So I asked to be transfered to their Fraud department.

Fraud first looked up my SS# and found an old record from 4 years ago -- but nothing else (my phones are under the business tax ID).  So I asked Fraud to confirm that this was a valid Verizon number.

Fraud called the number, put in their test information and the number retrieved their account -- thus confirming that yes, it's a Verizon number that leads to REAL Verizon Finance department (NOT A SCAM, be at Peace :) )

So I asked why I was getting this freaky call at my house -- Fraud transferred me to Finance (all of this was done with transfers, no calling "weird numbers") and Finance checked it out against my home phone number -- they discovered that the family who lived here before (we kept their number) had an outstanding bill -- I gave the forwarding phone number for the family and my heart stopped racing.

I told them that this particular message is creepy and freaking a lot of people out on the Internet -- they said they'd file a report.

If you want to confirm everything I've said (since, who am I?  I might be a black hat too!) -- dial 611 and repeat my steps (go by way of Fraud, I chose Identity Fraud instead of cloning Fraud -- seemed to be the best path) -- then, if you go that far -- ask Fraud to send you to Finance -- maybe if enough people do this, they'll change their methodology.

Hi, I have been recieving these calls too.  I just found out it was Verizon.  My bills have been past due these couple of months- I think they may be calling because of that.  I think it's weird they don't send text alerts instead- they seem to send them for everything else.

Got a call today on the business line asking to call this number to confirm a Verizon account.  Did not call back - the business does not have any verizon phones. Seems fishy, especially after we googled the number and found these comments.

I got the same calls, first from "Unavailable" and then from 949-286-3311.  Both times I got the message (which sounds recorded) that I needed to "call and confirm my account".  Seems like a scam for sure.

I had the same.  They said they were Financial Services from VerizonWireless.  I called VerizonWireless on another number - one that I know is really VerizonWireless, to check my account, and they told me that the account was fine.  I will not be calling that number

Got a call from 949-286-3311 and the vm only said call 800-277-4542. Seems to be a scam or poor business practice from Verizon. I did not call either number, just researched on the web and don't plan on calling them.
