I get a call from this number every day.  They ask for Richard Singer.  I have never heard of this person and tell them that.  They say hang up and they won't call again.  I do that.  They call the next day and say the same thing over and over.  I don't know who they are because if you're not Richard Singer, they won't tell you what they want.

It's May 2012 and I'm getting unwanted calls from this number. Very annoying.  I don't have any outstanding debt, so I know that this is a fraud.

Thanks so much for the information I just got the call on my cell phone. Oddly enough I have started making payments at the local office so I'm not sure why they are calling me. I have no intention of returning the call. I'll just keep dealing with the office at Advance America.

This number has been calling my number 6 times a day. What they dont know is   that they can only legally call you once a day. I work for an attorney that handles debt collectors!!!    I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB and with my states attorney general.    They will not give me tha name of the company but i will find out,

no message or name

This person keeps calling my home phone number and does not identify who they are looking for or what they actually want.  They leave a self recorded message demanding you call saying it is for business purposes only.

This is a collection company collecting for Advance America.
I received a call from them but just as I picked up, they hung up. I returned the call and was informed that it was an attempt to collected a debt.
The original collector was very rude. I told her I was returning a call I had just missed. She asked me for my number. Which I gave her and she repeated. She said "we don't have 'yo numba'". I repeated it again for her. She stated "awe, the numba you callin' from". I didn't realize it was a question so I didn't reply. I assumed this was a statement as in "oh, I see that it's the same number you are calling from". When I didn't reply she said "HELLLLLLOOOOO?".
I knew this wasn't going to go well.
She informed me that this was a debt from six months ago, the amount, the original creditor etc. I informed her that I was indeed aware of the debt. That I had taken a PDL out when I was employed, got sucked into the cycle, paid it on time for three months and then lost my job. I managed to make the payments for another four week period using my savings. Then it ran out. Once my Unemployment insurance kicked in, I tried to make payment arrangements with the local store but was informed they could not do this. So I had pretty much been waiting for the collection call.
Over the last 6mo I realized that I have no option but to file for bankruptcy. I informed her of this. I gave her the case number and my atty's name.
I then asked her for my account number with them and their address for correspondence. Her reply "naw, you dont know how 'dis works. YOU give ME info-mation not ME YOU". I said "ma'am I have given you the information you need.. now I need this information from you so I can give it to my attorney."
"You need to pay this"
"I am having to file bankruptcy. I just told you this."
"Nah, you need to pay this!"
"Are you refusing to give me your correspondence address and my account number?"
"I not givin you nuthin'. You give ME info-mation"
At this point I asked for a supervisior. Got his name, his identificaion number, and informed him that his collector just refused to give me information regarding my account. I also informed him that I would be notifying my attorney of this act.
He was MORE than polite and gave me the information that I needed.

Calling my cell every week for the last 4 weeks. I first picked up the call but no one response. I then stop pick it up.

Has called my house 13 times in the last 18 hours. have added number to block list

Have recently installed a new landline phone line from ATT. We have been receiving a lot of debt collector calls including many from the number 800-278-7172. I tell them that the person they are seeking does not live at this address and I ask them who they are. They refuse to answer my questions and ask me a lot of questions about who I am, which I refuse. They then threaten to keep harassing me If I don''t answer their questions. I intend to report them to the appropriate authorities.

Didn't leave a message.  When I called it back, a recording comes on that says "This is an attempt to collect a debt, please hold for the next available representative".  Never said company's name.
