Received repeated calls one after another last week.
Did not answer and same thing happened this morning.
Looked up the number and noticed several complaints.
I am on the national do not call list but it appears these lists are ineffective.
How can I make them stop and when is something significant going to be done about these telemarketers?

We got a call from these people too. The caller ID originaly said 972 area code and they gave this 800 number to call back.  I was stupid enough to let them into my house because my elderly neighbor was the one who had given them my phone number in the first place.  I too was given a "special code" that the auditor was supposed to give me when he showed up.  The guy came on August 2, did not give me the code , and did not give a business card or brochure or anything.    He then said most people qualified for the "free" $5000 in upgrades, but most people need $6000-$7000 worth and we could finance the rest.  He then asked for our SS #'s so he could run a credit check.  I said no, and that if it cost any more than the "program" provided we were not interested.  He did perform an energy audit that consisted of taking the temperature of my fridge and attic and nothing else.  My neighbor had an appointment for the same afternoon, as soon as the guy left I called her and told to her cancel as this was a complete scam!!!

I confirmed with local police that this is a scam.   They are trying to get in and scope the house out for theft or to get you to fill out a financing application so can get your SS#, etc for identity theft.

They might want to get to your house, inspect it inside and out, and see where the alarm sensors are if you have an alarm.  Then when you come home from work one day, all of your posiitions are gone.

That could be their sales pitch.  I left a VM on the 800 number to cancel my appointment.  If some one shows up to my front door, I am not openning.

This is a SCAM!!!! I had the auditor come to my house too.........who said he wasn't selling me anything
and then at the end proceeded to try and sell me..........had to be today........the total package was
around $15000 for air conditioner and furnace..Trane brand. The paperwork he left me did not have the
name of the company which he said was IAQ mechanical and no address or phone number.
I called the 800-281-3397 that had called me in the first place and the same gal answered when I told her I was going to report her to the BBB she said "Good Luck" and hung up on me. I'm going to turn them in to the Attorney Generals office. The attorney generals phone number is 512-463-2185. if you would like to join me. These people need to be stopped. I am even wondering if they sell air conditioners or just take your money??

Telemarketer offering a free energy audit and the opportunity to take advantage of government stimulus for energy upgrades.  I actually met with these people.  I wanted to save energy and knew there were incentives out there.  A really nice, knowledgeable earnest young man spent an hour and a half in the attic,  and going around the house looking at window,s ac and appliances, talking about ways to save energy.  (I want to save energy, but not just to save money.)  Then we sat down for the sales pitch.  Because I need replacement windows, he showed me the one he recommended and started writing out a budget for me.  A loan for the windows ($14,000!) would be offset by $100 month energy savings and the govt. tax incentives, which aren't much, which would, theoretically, lower the payment even more. And there was a discount for "cooperating with the installers" (!?) and an agreement to write a positive review about them (?!?).  When I told him I was interested in replacement windows and tax breaks but not on financing, he look dejected and left.  No paperwork from my "free" audit, no business card, no brochure for the windows he was pushing.  I'm guessing his company, Green Energy, works for GE Money and what he's selling is a loan disguised as an energy conservation program.  And, although a crusty old man answers the 800 number, I can't get any answers from him.  I hope Austin finds a better job soon.  He was nice.

I got the same call. They quoted a federal act that gave tax breaks but was valid for 2009 and 2010.
They gave me a 800 number, and they called back from a 972 area code number to ask a couple of more questions.  The don't answer the 800 number and the 972 number has a recording that says it is not a working number  ( good trick ).  This can not be valid.

They called me 5 times within 10 minutes and I finally picked. They 'represent' two auditors - Environmental Green and Global Efficiency. Of course if you are married they want both homeowners to be present, I imagine that is so they can make their non-sales sales pitch. Glad I checked this site out first.

Did you have the meeting with these folks?  I scheduled a meeting later in the week and want to know how it went.  I'm curious how they can say they are not selling anything.

Has anyone actually met with these people to determine whether or not they're a scam? They called my husband's cell today and he (was bored) and agreed to meet with them next week. It's just, what kind of business name is "Energy Conservation Program" anyway? And she gave him a numerical "code" that when the guy comes and says the code we'll know he's associated with her call. It sounds ridiculous. But I'll definitely hear them out. Should be interesting. I'm really not anticipating anything remotely "on the level."

I got a call from this number to offer an energy audit for a federal grant - sound like a telemarketer. Called back the next morning just to check & a guy answered (sound like he just got out of bed). I would not trust this call - very fishy.

Unsolicited call offering a 'free' home energy audit/evaluation  to qualify for a $5000 federal grant (that did not have to be paid back)!!!  I've never heard of a federal grant where they contact you with the offer.  Federal grants are rarely offered to individuals and require a lot of qualifications and paperwork to apply.

Wanted to do a home energy evaluation.  Left this phone number.  When I called back to cancel (after getting some good advice about telephone marketers)....no one answered....just a couple of rings and then a busy signal.  This is NOT a good sign.
