I have received 3 calls today and none of them left a voice mail.  I do have a new US bank card that I already activated in the bank.  I now have this number blocked on my phone so it goes straight to voice mail every time they try to call.  Love it.  :)  If you have the time to call me and don't have the guts to leave a message, don't bother calling.

I NEVER answer "800" or other toll free calls - EVER!  If it's important, time-sensitive info, or something legit like that, they WILL leave a message and a VALID number to call back.  If they don't leave a message, then I figure there was no reason for me to pick up the call in the first place.

I also got 3 calls today to my cell phone -while at work-, Aug 21 from that number.  I just ignore the call, but no one leaves any message.  If I dont recognize the number, and no one leaves a message, then it is not important, but still they are a pain in the..

This is U S Bank's Credit Card Fraud Protection.  If they call you, there's a chance that your card is being used in an abnormal manner, or in an area that you typically don't use it.
Both of these use patterns will trigger a call, and sometimes if you don't answer, your card will be BLOCKED until you call, if you are indeed using your card in a different from normal pattern.

This is their "Fraud Protection" line.  They call when your card is used more than normal or if you are a new customer to establish your use pattern.
All  to protect you from fraud, and / or misuse.

I don't do business over the phone and that includes banks.  I certainly don't do business with individuals approaching me in grocery stores with name tags belonging to banks.  That happened a couple of weeks ago when I was asked who my bank was.  Excuse me, it's NOYB. I was nice.

Call claiming to be US Bank, asking to activate my US Bank credit card, asking for credit card #.  They spoofed a US Bank phone number.  US Bank says they never call asking to activate a credit card.

Event Reminder
This is US Bank, department: Card member service (check back of your debit card/credit card for proof)
its an automated system which will call for different reasons mostly card related, if you recieve a call and your not a customer than most likely a US bank customer used your current number(cell phone companies do recycle numbers or maybe the customer gave a fake number).
For privacy it may not leave a message and its just a machine used for reminders or to patch you to a represenative.

I got called by this number twice in the am and twice in the pm. Never answered and they left no message. I see some people say it's USBANK...I know 3 people who work at the branch I bank with and whenever there's business to discuss, it's usually one of them who calls. No messages looks too fishy for me.

I have received several calls with no messages from 8002858585.

I agree, it this were a legit organziation than messages would be left, but there are never any messages left and it is really becoming annoying.

I had three of these calls today, i missed the first two and no messages were left on my voice mail. I was able to answer the third call. I was prompted to activate my new U.S. Bank card. When  prompted I hit the signal to speak with a representative and when we spoke he quickly began to have me tell him my account number so that I could activate my card. Luckily, earlier in the day I had already been on this forum and was aware of what was happening. I basically told him to shove it. I told him that I'd be contacting the FTC and that is when he hung up. I then proceeded to contact U.S Bank and spoke with the fraud department and was informed that this is an actual scam and to never give out any info. what a***oles

I googled this number while it was ringing and decided not to answer, which I see was a good decision judging by the other comments on here.  I just NEVER ANSWER these calls and would recommend that most other people do the same!  I rarely get repeat calls days in a row when I don't answer the first one.

The Bank manager I spoke with said that this automated call asking to activate your card over the phone is a new feature that USBANK provides.

Part of me wants to believe him, but it was also his employee that applied for a credit card in my name without me knowing.

This just happened to me, except I didn't apply for my USBANK credit card.  It shows up on my online account, but when I call bank services, I can't access the card information because it was sent to a different address, and the teller cannot verify my information.  Now i'm getting automated calls asking me to activate the card.

Just got call and it was US Bank. It was to tell me about some of the advantages of my credit card ie. 1% cash back etc. It was a RECORDED MSG. If it is not a recorded message then it is not the bank so don't give them any information. You can however give them a hard time.

NEVER GIVE OUT ANY INFO TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU.  ALWAYS CALL A NUMBER THAT YOU KNOW IS FROM THE BANK. JUST CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD  WHICH SHOULD BE (800) USBANKS (872-2657).

as the user above said this number is really US Bank.  You will get this call after you get a credit card in the mail. It is suppose to be a friendly reminder to activate, if you haven't they will ask you to activate on that call.  Don't do that and just call the number on the card you get because this number is now being spoofed or faked by someone pretending to be US Bank.  If you just got a US bank credit card in the mail, chances are this is really us bank just making sure you activated your card and to see if you have any questions for them, if you didn't it is most likely the spoofed/fake call, either way just play it safe and call the number on the card to activate!!

I work for US Bank.  I had one of my customers call me and tell me that they got a call from this number and they were claiming to be US Bank.  They told him that he had not activated his credit card with us and that he just needed to give them his card number and social security number so that they could get his card activated.  First of all, his credit card had already been activated and had been used.  This number is a US Bank number.  However, US Bank will NEVER call you and ask you for this information.  Someone is definately falsifying the caller ID number to show as a real US Bank #.

The number that called you is US Bank.  I think it's an automated call but it's stupid that they don't leave a message identifying who has called.

This number has called my cell 3 times today!  Does not leave message -- I think that any legit caller would leave a message and if they are not legit they need to ck the 'Do NOT Call List' as my number is there!

I got multiple calls from this number and they never leave a message. I eventually answered the number to see who it was. They said they were US Bank and that they wanted me to activate my new credit card with them. I have already done that with them when I received my new card over a month ago. I just hung up and  have been ignoring the calls since then.
