I received a call from these people the other day. They said they were confirming an appointment I had made for some kind of installation. I called the number back and told them I had done no such thing. About 45 minutes later I got another call from a service tech saying he would be at my house in 15 minutes. I told him if i caught him at my front door he would wish he had a REAL job. This company is about 5 seconds away from me doing away from our landline.

Sometimes scam artists use a concept called "number spoofing" to make a call look like it's coming from a legit number, when really it's coming from the Philippines or some other random place. They are trying to sucker people into giving up payment information to them so they can steal their identities! Is that too much of a concept for you to grasp?

Got an automated machine confirming an appt with an AT&T technician coming to my house to install U-Verse. Wasn't spam.

Received call saying they were AT&T and a technician would be by last Friday to complete my UVerse order and to call them back if I would not be home.  I did not order UVerse nor is it even available in my area so I assumed this was a phishing call from thieves wanting to know if I would not home.  No one arrived on Friday as I was at home all day and no one called back.

They called and when I didn't pick up, they left a message. Identified themselves as an automated call from AT&T regarding my U-Verse account. I don't have a U-Verse account. I don't even have a land line any longer so I haven't done business with them for years. If this is really a call from AT&T, it is an advertising ploy and since I am on the Do Not Call List, they are breaking the law.

Called my cell phone. I never pick up 1-800 numbers on my cell. Whether or not it's ATT, it has to be a telemarketer or a scam because I never give out that number. If they call again, I will report them to the FCC.

Get 5 calls a day from this number and the auto dialer never connects. If it att I will cancel my service. A tech company cant get acsimple disler right?

This number called my cell phone (Verizon) and said they received my automated payment?

My cell is Verizon, my home phone is AT&T but we did not make any auto payment .

Based on the notes here, I won't even bother calling the number back to question it.

It was not stupid but wise. It is better to keep the AT&T name, the same happened when K-Mart bought Sears. When you buy and merge companies it is wiser to keep the famous name.

Scam- man with very thick Indian accent asking for my personal information . Wanted me to tell him so he could "verify" it with his ATT information. I just hung up. Called me 3 more times.

I had cable before switching to uverse it wasnt better or cheaper. Their customer service does lack and their are high price but so are all the competitors or lack there off.

First call from this number:  I said, "hello", and a female voice said, "sorry, wrong number".  I hung up.  Then immediately the phone rang again from the same number.  I again answered and said "hello", and then the person hung up on me.  No further calls after that.

We keep getting calls, even several times a day, from 800 288 2020!  And this is AT&T....the company we've done business with for years....why would they want to annoy their very bread and butter?  Common sense says they would not or they will go down the toilet faster than a flush.  What does this mean....SCAMS....which AT&T being a....err, "phone company" in part, better get on the ball and do something about this quickLY!!  At least they should put a notice out to their customers that it is "not YOU who is acting so irresponsibly"...or are they?

well, I wouldn't mind getting a call from at&t but each time I respond, I'm put back into that half assed push button to get the button to push to get another button to push   if you call me stay on phone long enough for me to respond--give me a real person

AtT keeps calling eventhough they sold off SNET to Frontier.  

Seems they do not keep sales team informed of  areas no longer servicec by ATT.

It appears to be AT&T - Very Frustrating - As Soon As I Answer, It Hangs Up

I get a call from this number no less that 3 times DAILY, and each time I reply that it is SPAM.  I have contacted ATT customer support but they really don't know what they are doing or they are just plain ignorant.  And the number they are calling is supposed to be an unlisted/private number.  Hate these guys with a passion.

It's AT&T either to remind you about your service call OR to remind you that you have a bill to pay, which is annoying as all get out as I still get it whem I have a bill due yet already scheduled a payment. You'd think AT&T would be smart enough to know there is a payment scheduled, but I guess that's asking for alot

Caller hung up just as I answered phone.  Returned call only to be inflicted with a long string of irrelevant computerized questions since I do not have an ATT account,,,  of any kind.  No phone, no TV,,  no U-Verse.  (U-verse is a separate company).  Finally got to a live person who claimed to be in New York, but with the echo and delay on the phone line it was obvious that the person was around the other side of the world.  ATT,,,  that is AMERICAN Telephone and Telegraph sends jobs out of the country.  The of shore customer service agents are incompetent.  They will always be incompetent.

I don't believe this is always ATT. I had SNC 2+ years ago but ported the number to a different carrier and have had no business with ATT since. So when they call to tell me I just made an automated payment it is BS.

Someone from AT&T called asking me how I like my service...yet she had no idea what I was talking about when I told her about my recent change to a lower channel subscription. I got scared and hung up. If this number really is legit, please train your damn staff to be more professional.

This number showed up in my bank statement (AT&T*BILL PAYMENT 800-288-2020 TXUS) with a $5.54 that I know nothing about.
