He's just another one of the hundreds of thousands of low-lives around the globe who depend on the gullibility of others in order to scam a living. Tell him you know that. Tell him you are now recording all their calls & VMs.
Go to the FTCs website & file a complaint. Do the same with your states Atty. Generals office. Not that it will do much good. Not even the largest governmental bureaucracy could begin to keep up with the global infestation of Scum-bags that the internet has brought into our lives.
If a legitimate collection firm calls you, they will adhere to the FDCPA. If they don't, they're frauds. Simple as that.
 Ignore them after you insult their lineage.
Live Well.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Debt Collector
This man named Troy Adams keeps calling me from a unavailable number. He leaves a nasty message saying this is the last chance i can contact someone at 866-459-4592. while he is telling me he has to have an address to serve papers. Didnt know they would have an address if they were a legit collector they should have that. anyways you can hear the call center in the backgroand of his vm. He calls at work as well. I tried the number back and it was after hours and it was Statewide ABR. Not sure how to handle this and if eventually will they give up? anyone with any answers?

They called me today, the man identified himself as Mike Evans representing Statewide ABR. He was looking for my mother and said that a warrant was being issued for her and she should call them if she didn't want to be arrested. I hung up on him and he called me back immediately, very angry and surprised that I did that. He wanted to know why I would hang up on such an important call and I explained that I researched his "company" and learned that they are a scam. He never did say why a warrant was supposedly being issued and by whom. Obviously a scam and they haven't called back yet.

I've dealt with this before and a warrant was, of course, never issued and my mother has never been arrested. These people are parasites.

Yes, completely bogus.  You can hear the call center noise in the background but yet they try and pass themselves off as some sort of legal company.  LOSERS

Received the same message.  Said his name was Mark Advil (sp) and threatened me with litagation.  Gave this 800 number to call back but the caller ID was  local number which belongs to a fax machine with the Police Dept.  I guess so people would answer the phone.

Debt Collector
The number is to a debt collector that does not seem to have a very good reputation. Reports are that they like using people search websites to find family members of who they are looking for. They call them and tell them that they are looking for whoever and state that they have papers or an arrest warrant in which they want to serve. Many people are reporting that the forms of intimidation that they use are illegal. They are calling you to either get information about a family member that they are trying to collect a debt on, or they are trying to collect a debt with you.
