It is not misleading because applications are NOT submitted on outbound calls also filling out a box online that states "By submitting this form, you are giving permission for a licensed agent to call or email you regarding Medicare options." Is not illegal. You are giving the company an open invitation to give you a call regardless if you are on a list or not. Learn to read the details online before submitting your name, and phone number randomly.

1.  CMS Compliance is a health insurance accountability reference.  It has nothing to do with cold calling people who may not have applied.
2.  Telemarketing calls to people on the Do Not Call list are indeed illegal.
3.  Robocalls to people who have not given explicit =written= permission to the calling agency are also illegal.

Just because you are on a do not call list doesn't exclude you from getting these calls. You put your information on the website like your name, phone number, zip code. According to CMS compliance they have all rights once that info is submitted to contact you and it is in no way against the law.

They aren't hanging up rather than the system current call centers use to make outbound calls. No one does it manually anymore it's all setup on an "automatic dialer" or a computer system. Wait on the line and you are sure to reach a human voice.

I receive daily calls from 800-2993116   - when I pick up the call they automatically hang up --- very frustrating

For anyone who reads this post, one solution to not getting these type of numbers is to get a magic jack phone number.  It is not on any phone lists.   I use my regular house phone number for legitimate calls but when I fill out a form on the internet, I put my magic phone number.   The phone calls then to to a magic jack message on your email and you can just delete.  I do not even have the magic plugged in unless I want to use it to make a call when I do not necessarily want to have them trace my number.  Just an idea.
