If you signed up for TechRepublic then thats how the company got your #. Just trying to sell IT training classes, pretty harmless.

Not that I am attempting to condone the no messages or hang ups (yes, I get them too!), but I would like offer this:

Q.  How does Global Knowledge get your work / cell number or email address?
A.  Some of you have said that some of your co-workers have been to a Global Knowledge class.
Having taken many GK classes I can tell you that They do this wonderful little raffle drawing on the
last day of class where your co-workers fill out cards of people they (your co-workers) think might
be interested in taking a training class through GK.  So your co-workers GAVE them your name,
email address and phone numbers.  So thank them for that.  Don?t blame GK for something that
one of your co-workers did  to get a free water bottle or hat!

In addition, if you have been to a convention like the Cisco Live 2011 in Las Vegas and you
stopped by and got a free tee shirt, they scanned your badge and bingo, they have all the
    information that you registered with.

Just something to think about before you go bashing this or any company publically.

Been calling my office every day this week.  Name on caller ID shows as "TOLL FREE CALL" which by my experience is usually a telemarketer (or maybe a bill collector), so I don't answer calls like that.  Legitimate calls will usually have the real name of a person or company.  Found out by a Google search that it's Global Knowledge.  The first day they left a voicemail, but all it said was "I'd like to speak with Matthew."  That was it...no name of the person who was calling, no company name, no callback number.  The other days they haven't left any messages.  Some of my co-workers have gone to training at Global Knowledge recently, but I haven't...so not sure why they'd be calling me, where they got my number from, or why they would be asking to speak with someone named Matthew on that first day.  My name is not Matthew.

VERY ANNOYING!

I received a call today, no voicemail message left.  Professional companies left professional voicemails.  I dealt with Global Knowledge before they changed their name.  I don't mind voicemails if there are special promotions or deals but no voicemail irritates me and makes me rethink on how will be getting my training business.

Ok, lets see. By just the reports on this site Global "Clueless" Knowledge has had a problem with their phone system for years. Calls from 800.308.0196 come to my office phone & my cell phone. The calls come in, ....and hangup???? Nice marketing feature of that phone system, don't you think? So this is what I think is going on: 1. Global Clueless VP of Marketing came up with this great marketing idea. Call people randomly and hang-up on them. 2. When they call back and ask why you keep calling, they ask if you have need for their IT services. That's right, I'm going to do business with an IT company that cannot figure out their own phone system. 3. Then act surprised that you don't know your phone system is making thousands of unsolicited hang-up calls?

I say open season on calling 800.308.0196. We're a real IT company and I'm thinking I'll program our phone system to call them every 15 minutes and hang-up. Yes, some companies do know how to program their phone system.

Sorry if you think we should KINDLY call you and give you our phone number.  I never filled out anything from Global Knowledge or ever requested any information.  So if you're calling me, it's unsolicited, which is illegal since my number is on the do not call list.  So if someone is rude to you, there's a very valid reason, and I'm sure if you were in the same situation, you would be upset as well.

I agree with everyone else - they've called twice to a Direct Dial number I know for a FACT wasn't given to them, and haven't left a voicemail either time.

I've added them to our PBX's blacklist. Won't be seeing calls from them anymore.

Yes, we are no longer required to leave voice messages because they never got returned and were a waste of our time!

We do sometimes use automatic dialers when calling our customers and prospective customers as well.  We are not calling to demand you hand over your wallet right there.  We want to assist you with information (if you need any) on IT training courses.

Most of the people we call are members of our partners websites such as Techrepublic, TechTarget, TechWeb, etc.  If you download a whitepaper from any one of those sites, and you have your legitimate phone number on your account with those sites, they will refer you to us as someone who might be interested in pursuing IT training courses.

If you would like to call back our number, feel free. Just please be nice about it!  We are working professionals helping other professionals with their careers.

Another tip:  if you are a member of any of our partner websites, and you don't want calls each time you download a whitepaper or do a webinar, log into your account and change the phone number to something like all 5's, all 9's etc and you will still get access to those valuable resources.

Thanks!

Global Knowledge.  It took a good 15+ seconds before the call was transferred.  Just silence until an agent spoke to me.
I had filled out something on their website the other day and they were doing a follow up.

I called back, they answered as Global Knowledge. Who knows nowadays if they are really are who they claim. I asked to be removed from their list. Surprisingly they phoned back to confirm my removal using another number: 800 254-9832. Let's see if this time works.

I work for Global Knowledge.  This is a very simple process.  All you have to do is CALL THE NUMBER BACK, kindly let us know what is going on, kindly give us your number, we will be happy to look it up and then KINDLY ask us to not call or if you would like information on our training courses, we'll be glad to help you with that too.

If we get your voicemail, we WILL leave you a message.  We are required to leave one message on your VM if we do get it.

(notice "Kindly?")  We are working professionals too trying to help out other working professionals in their IT industries!

I got a call from this number at around noon today.  I screen calls and only answer if the number is one I recognize and I never answer 1-800 numbers.  I probably looked at Global Knowledge's website sometime previously and they must be trying to get me to buy something.  Maybe they will just not call back.

I agree with the Global Knowledge employee.  They're only calling because you put your number somewhere on their site, even if it was your cell phone.  They are trying to get people to use their service or products, not cold call people.  they're calling people who basically asked to get called.

And no, I do not work for Global Knowledge.  I, in fact, don't pick up their calls either, but I know that they aren't doing anything malicious or wrong.  You don't want them to call you?  Don't put your number on their site.
