Received a call late last night, caller stated he was representative of Microsoft and wanted to help me fix my computer problems. Call came from 1-800-313-0000. Since he called at an inconvenient time he called back the next day, asked questions about my computer. I had already done some research since I was suspicious that a Microsoft employee would be calling me to help fix a problem, I found out that this was a scam. He called back today and I asked why Microsoft was calling people and he asked me who told me he was from Microsoft, I said "you did you idiot" Since his English was terrible I explained myself in German and told him not to ever call me again. I reported this on several other webpages as well as to the FCC hoping no one falls for this.

Scam
Caller id showed 800-313-0000. Guy claimed to be microsoft technician wanting to repair error logs on pc. Informed him don't own a pc and he claimed that was strange because he was looking at log. Strange thing is, he called the number of a person who doesn't even own a pc nor have internet service so definitely a scam. I would like to know what company is selling names and numbers to these pests.

based on posts, I'm not sure if this is a scam to attack our computers or if its a scam to get us to call the number back so we can be charged 900 number fees. I think best bet is don't answer the phone and don't hit redial when they call

Wow I am not alone. Weekends are suppose to be peaceful right. Same diff a guy calls eastern accented "Aaron" asked me if I am on my laptop and I told him no. He said oh really and said he or his company has dedected a problem with my laptop and he could help get rid of my viruses. I said oh yeah my computer magically call him and says I am full of viruses please call her to fix them. Really how stupid so you think I am and hung up with him sayin you will be sorry WHAT I wish I had his number so I could  call him continuously trying to sell him a conscience
My mom (elderly) also called me asking about this saying he was in her computer fixing it I told her to hang up immediately and cancel her debit card ASAP he called her back over and over trying to convince her
To allow him access again. Now she is afraid to use laptop for long periods of time.
DONT BELIEVE THEM
tried to call number back and it said not available from my calling area

phone number is the same that called and claimed to be from Microsoft and that my computer was having an error and wanted to speak to the person on the computer - I hung up.   I knew this was a scam.   Please note this link - it clearly states from India- if you didn't call anyone for help - be smart, don't let anyone access your computer...EVER!

Heavy Indian accent, told that I have error reporting event, I told him that I disabled that option on my computer he said that it is still reporting the errors to the global center of windows support. The company named "ired tech support" I asked what program reported the error, he said Windows.I asked how come he wants to fix my errors free when all the other programs asking money for that type of service, the answer was the same- "we are windows support". He asked me to type
the website address in the run command "www.fix.comxa.com" and click enter.  I said no I will not go to a random website, then I did the google search and got to this website, I Immediately disconnected him. He called again after a minute, I asked him not to call me again, he had the nerve to ask me"Why?". I disconnected again

Listened to their spin or scam. I told them I fell for it years ago and it cost me a lot of money from the bank that I did not approve. I told him that I had a local computer repairman that could fix it a lot cheaper lot cheaper. Then he told me that he was Microsoft and just give him access and it would be free. I got tired of him talking in circles so I finally hung up didn't mind wasting their time. Also his number is spoofed it could be a business or a sex hot line if you call that # they will bug you. With such scam insanity  out there I wonder if you gave then access to your computer if they would put porn on your computer to retaliate and get one in trouble with the law.

These people are persistent callers. I've gotten hundreds of calls, and made hundreds of complaints to the FTC. So now, I get the call -- he goes through his opening spiel -- and then I ask him to just stop bitching so much, I know it's a scam, and I hope that I'm wasting a lot of his time. Then I start talking about other topics like the weaher, and ask him if he's making any progress yet on those virus's and stuff, and if he wants to continue or not. By this time he's yelling at me, and then hangs up.

Its a scam company from www.ired.ulcom.com . They state that they are calling because your computer sent them a message saying it needs tech support.  They try to get you to install http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx so they can take control of your PII information on your computer.

They called yesterday. I didn't give them much of a chance to talk, since it was 9:30pm and after a long battle I had finally JUST gotten my baby back to sleep in his crib. Needless to say, I ripped him a new one and told him to take me out of his system IMMEDIATELY. They called back tonight and hung up on our machine :-( We're on the DNC list, but I guess that doesn't apply to people overseas. Jack***es.

We've asked these jokers at least 10 times to remove our number from their database.. the 1st few times we were nice about it but the more they call the more angry and vocal our requests are. They just don't get it.. Do they really think people are stupid enough to fall for their crap?  Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to shut them down because their overseas and they spoof numbers and are not easy to find.. these POS need to get a real job and leave us alone!  And I do have our number on the DNC list but that does NOTHING (shocker).  The next time they call I am tempted to answer it in a whisper and say "it's done, help me remove the body".. I don't think they'd call again!

I just received a call from this heavy mid-eastern man.  Started with - that my computer was sending too many errors and that I needed to do something about it.  He started to tell me what to do when I interrupted him to let him know that I was computer savvy and he did not need to give me any information regarding it.  I asked him since he had all my information and errors I asked him to give me the information he had on the errors and maybe I could build a GUI for it.  He hesitated and continued with his wanting me to get on my computer and do as he said.   I told him that I was aware of his scamming  people and needed to know his company name he said it was IRED ?????   no such thing when I checked.  Might have been his accent that he could not pronounce the name right.   He was a very persistent person so I just hung up on  him.   People, be aware, these idiots will not stop!

Prank Call
Wow what fine upstanding citizens these scum must be , and low and behold us pathetic sheep that just answer our own phones and don't feed into there crap get turned into the losers.

So depending on there timing and my mood I either don't answer to which they leave no message---or I just pick up phone and say nothing--fun to listen to them say HELLO 10 times and get very pissed off----or sometimes I play a tune with the keypad--
or sometimes I give outrageous answers to keep them on line as long as possible. My thought process is they get paid to sell you something or steal something from you and the longer they are tied up with no results the quicker your # will get off the lists,
yes probably wishful thinking  on my part:).

Tonight was the second time this has happened recently--after playing with them a bit they hang up---but within 5 minutes the phone rings again the second time it has our last name, husbands first initial and our home phone #  on caller id. Little bit eerie
that they can and do that to you--wow wish I could keep calling m self like that--maybe they want me to talk to myself???

Caller ID said Toll Free. I picked up the phone and said hello. Heard talking in the background like it was a call center, but no one spoke directly to me. I just hung up.

Prank Call
When I answered the phone (can't remember his name) he said he was calling from NY and that he had received numerous errors coming from my computer. I asked what kind of errors, and here another woman is on phone also and asking same question as me;  I told him, "wait a minute, you have 2 people here talking to you at the same time".  He says to just bear with him a minute until he resolves this; and I just hung up.  He did not give name of company or whatever.

I Rec'd the same call from someone w/Indian Accent, however, it was at my workplace. I seriously think these scammer's automated computer runs through EVERY possible #. I receive them on my cell and on my landline, now my place of work, which we've had the same # for over 15 years. I told him that he was calling a business and he needed to speak to my data processing dept, since we are a corp., he then proceeded to mumble, "oh sorry"...and hung up on me. I've also had this same call from many other different #'s. This is very annoying. Believe me, Microsoft isn't gonna call you, they would expect you to call them and also expect payment, depending on the problem! Don't fall for this!!!
