i just received my postcard and was called by the automated voice telling me about complimentary cruise from Norwegian Cruise Line.  i called the number on the back of the postcard and the man told me he represents an agency called Worldwide Travel.  The first thing he asked me was if I am single or married.  I am a single man and he said I did not qualify, but single women do.  He said my girlfriend could go to their valencia office to hear their pitch.  NOT GONNA HAPPEN.  This whole thing stinks.

Here is a link to a yelp review of Worldwide Travel, I don't think you will be surprised.

Free Norwegian Cruise Line Cruise for 2- 8 days 7 Nights card came in the mail. These are obvious scams my first clue is where it states "We have been trying to contact you" Funny I haven't received any messages on any phone and I always check call ID so its obvious to me its a fishing mass mailing to see what suckers will bite.

They want something from you even if its only all your information to resell.

Never sign up for that free vacation or free car where you have to fill out a card at an event or mall. Why?
you just gave your permission to have your info sold to thousands so now they all have your phone number /email/  .........you asked for!

Same here.  I'm almost curious what they would charge my credit card that surely they would be asking for.  Maybe a $500 handling fee to get the tablet?
I'm too lazy though to actually try and talk to them.

Received postcard stating that their "promotional department has scheduled me to receive a brand new 7 inch Touchpad Tablet Computer with Android Software".

Also required me to call within 72 hrs to receive a bonus incentive of one week of resort accommodations...

I have no wish for further hassle - I will not respond!!

Got a "Final Notice" letter from them today. Funny... never got one before. So, I guess the first is the final (I hope). On mine, it says I won a netbook with embedded Windows CE 6.0 OS. It's WIFI "ready". Doesn't have WIFI, I guess. But it's "ready" for it. LOL! Plus a $300 food certificate.

The back says it's not a time share or land sales program, but it is a "vacation promotion".

Even if the "gifts" are provided, the Netbook is probably loaded with Malware that will send out your email address to a bunch of Spammers as well.

Will not be calling.

My underage daughter received a call from someone who has an obvious southern accent; however, stated that she's calling from Cafe Duck in the Dells. The Dells is located in Wisconsin, and no one in WI speaks with a southern accent. Anyhow, the woman was calling for someone whom we did not even know. When my daughter gave me the phone, the woman said that since the number belonged to our family, we automatically won the 2 round trips and 2 nights stay. All I had to do is answer a few questions and attend a 90 minute orientation (2hours away), no time share. She gave me her # of 800-313-5054.

Note that I've been to an orientation once before for allegedly 90 minutes and walked out of there 5 hours later, hungry and arguing with the guy that walked us through their promotion. They wanted us to "only" put $2500 down that day, and then $500 each month after. When I refused, they began asking why we "wasted" their time. That was when they got what they deserved from me. All I have to say is WASTE OF TIME and SCAM.......

I recently went to a 90 minute vacation club presentation.  They offered the cruise.  The cruise is likely valid.  However, it's also likely a bottom deck cheap room for 2.  Of course, they will upgrade you to additional people or higher decks for additional fees.

During the presentation, they tried to sell me the 'package' for $9,899.  Then went down to $8,899.  When I said no, they actually told me I could get it for $3,437 because someone else bought one last year and can't pay it anymore, and if they file for bankrupcy, the company gets none, so they'd rather sell it for $3500ish than have it go to waste.

I don't believe any of that.

The other thing I noticed, like some people here mentioned, about the name of the company.  On the phone, they said their name was one thing.  When I got there, they actually were using a different name.  And the 'cruise certificate' is under yet a third name.

Bottom line, in my opinion, it may be worth it to attend the prsentation and book the cruise if you aren't picky about dates, and you don't care about cabins.  I thought about my 22 year old niece, she could do this.  But for most people, I'd just avoid it completely.  Scam?  Not entirely, probably about 50%.  But the other 50% is just a lousy vacation deal at not much discount.

In my case, I got a post card with the 800-313-5054 phone number. "You have been selected to receive a complimentary 8 day/7 night Cruise for 2, leaving from any major port in the U.S., including Los Angeles, CA. ... This is not a time share or land sale offer" (I live in Orange County.)  Fine print, requiring a magnifying glass, includes: "Recipient is responsible for  application fee, and appropriate taxes, fees and deposits. Call for details to participate. Solicitation for a travel membership, 90 minute presentation required. Age, income and cohabitation requirements apply. This promotion is not sponsored or affiliated with Carnival, but they are one of our major suppliers." Carnival's logo appears on both sides of the card, of course.
After reading article posted by Mike, I'm not going near these people.

DON'T EVEN THINK THIS NOT A SCAM !!!!!...'TRAVEL CENTER SOT# 2098903'  8 day free Carnival cruise told me if I did not have a major Credit card then I needed to bring a 'filled' out application for one  to show at the interview and said my guest had to be a mate or spouse over 30years old...[that was a red flag for me]
Here's how I beleive they scam you....
They make their money on the back end from shady boiler room agencies or dishonest advertisers--- because your  CC or the application information you give them, would reveal enough info on you that they can run through a computer to learn any and everything about you and your mate --
[ don't forget! the offer was only good if you had a mate! ] Then they sell that information to anyone;  advertisers, junk debt collectors;  the works.!!
Case in point -- about 2 weeks after I spoke to this 'Travel Center' I began to get calls from debt collectors that I had not heard from in years, and other telemarketers  that bascially did not have my numbers .. I started getting robot calls from dry cleaners and morturaries, maid services,  and I did not sign up for the so called 'free' cruise.. all I did was call them! My call back enabled them to confirm my phone contact and veryify my name and ..Bam!! ... they sold that info ...THERE IS NO SUCH THING A  FREE * DAY CRUISE PEOPLE  !!!!...............

Really appreciate the comments from others. Did my own additional research and decided not to waste my time calling this number since they then could pester you with junk calls later since you invalidate the DO NOT CALL list if you call them. Below is a pretty good additional source of information. They recommend if you do end up giving them credit card information for charges, you cancel with your credit card company ASAP. These firms are not honorable anyway and will not return your money. If these companies were legitimate, they would offer information so you can check out both their offers and the company they work for. You should do like someone mentioned at the below site and ask them for a number to call them back - they won't and then you can tell it is a fake deal as well. Don't fall for it.

We received a post card as well. Didn't call as it's a scam no doubt. Noted it offered a free Carnival Cruise but fine print says it's not affiliated with Carnival Cruise lines?? Then noted free "trip" from LA, to Bahamas to St. Thomas...catch must be if you want to RETURN from St. Thomas!!
