Just got off the phone with hater after I called this number back to see if it was legit. ITS A SCAM! Offered me 6 months free if I paid my bill 6 months up front as well as an IPAD. Charter told me this was NOT them and you can find out what promo you are eligible for by accessing your account online at any time or going to your local office. Moral of this story if it sounds too good to be true it is! They even told me it was so limited that I should ask a friend to borrow the money so I didn't miss out. THATS THE RED FLAG! Also had an thick Indiana accent and was supposed to send me an email that "SURPRISE" NEVER arrivd. As of today December 6th this number is disconnected. Was scary though as they knew when I signed up with charter ad how much my bill is monthly. I reported it to Charter just now. The ONLY Charter number that is Legit is the one on our Charter bill. Dame these scam artists.

I called Charter about the deal that was offered to me and they confirmed this is a scam!!!!

Received call telling me that since I signed up for charter internet 6 month ago that I qualified for 6 months free if I paid for 6 months upfront. I told them that I didn't do business over the phone but he could send me an email, to my surprise he did have my email. This made it sound more legit but the email never came. I think these people hacked into someones system and stole the customer information.

I received a call telling me that if I paid $500 now I wouldn't be billed from Charter for the next year. This is supposed to be a discount on my charter bill. Pretty sure this was a scam.

Yes this is a scam. I filed a report to local police department. Thinking this was a scam from the start i hung up and called Charter and was told by that represntstive that it may be legit because there are other charter reps from all over that offer deals that she might not necessarily see on her end! so i went ahead with it! Unbelievable. Then the "charter rep" wanted more money in order to get the deal. Instead of paying 3mo advance it changed to 9mo! So I then called Charter and spoke with someone else who said it is in fact a scam. I had police officer call and once the "charter rep" knew we were on to them they pulled the number making us unable to get through the 324-9941 phone number anymore. I also informed actual Charter, and reported it to green dot money pak. The scary thing is that when the officer called from my home using his OWN phone and number, the scam artist was able to know the officer was calling on my behalf before even stating my name! Must be a satellite image of where the call is being made from! The "charter rep" said company is in California, but that's doubtful.

1-888-438-2427 is the charter number.
Don't trust calling into a number if it is not listed on the Charter.com website (official site not a sales site) or on offical Charter mail. Caller ID should (not always though) say Charter Communications if it's from Charter (still not a sure sign).
I got a call from a customer giving me this number and stating she was offered the same thing. 99.99 for 12mo, DVR upgrade, free iPad if she paid 2 mos up front through the Green Dot Money Pak card.
I work for Charter, I am a Billing Rep. This is not an offer we have. This is, indeed, a scam. Charter will never ask you to pay through an untraceable source. I don't know if this scam as been reported internally before, but I have reported is as of right now.

She had information about when my contract was ending. She knew how much I pay to charter each month.
Something is off somewhere.

Someone I know who lives on disability got a call from these people saying that if he paid $430.00, he would get 12 months of free cable service, plus 2 free Ipads. He got lucky for once, and came across some extra money that month and decided to do it, thinking he would save money in the future by doing this, so he did it. He got burned out of $430.00! :-( These people NEED to be CAUGHT NOW!!!

I had experience similar to Kevin. I was called 11/20 by 'Chris Taylor' (Indian accent, choppy connection), who said he had a promotional offer to upgrade my existing Charter basic service to the premium level (all channels) plus free HD DVR box, for $99/month for one year. I went along - he said I must go to Walmart preferably, to buy a Greendot MoneyPak card for $199.98 (to prepay 2 months) and then call the 'billing' dept (same phone -- 8003249941)with an authorization number he texted me. He pressured me to say exactly when I would do this, I said next day in later afternoon. I called Charter, they didn't know about the promotion. Yesterday I received 15 calls from this number, and at least 2 more this morning - I'm not answering, but finally replied to the text msg they sent saying I changed my mind and to please stop calling.

Don't do it! This is NOT charter. They say if you pay your charter bill 6 months in advance, you get better pricing and an ipad 3. Called Charter to verify this is not a charter #. It is a scam.

I received a call from this number, claiming to be from Microsoft, saying that my computer has a virus. I followed their instructions up to event viewer, where it did not show anything, at which point I asked them how they were affiliated with Microsoft. He then offered to transfer me to another representative, at which point I hung up in disgust. Windows Defender isn't showing any signs of virus, so I'm pretty sure this is some kind of scam to hack people's computers.

Green Dot money cards are huge red flags, untraceable. Any place asking you to do so is a red flag for fraud. Report them.
| Kevin 2013-11-21 23:34:40 Unknown |
Pretty sure this is a scam. Person said they are from Charter, offered me a great deal even though I'm already with charter, and said if I paid the first six months up front I would get a free IPAD. They asked for my email so they could send me the details and payment instructions. The email was from @charter.com, but was filled with type-o's. It instructed me to send payment to their affiliated company, Green Dot Money Pak., and provided instructions on how to get one of these payment cards and call them back at "this" number with to make payment using the card. I called Charter...they have no such offer, or phone number that belongs to them.

Charter Cable Telemarketing. Accessed VM, then does not leave a message (so they can bug you again later)...I finally answered which is how I found out it was Charter. Since I do not have Charter and I am on the Do Not Call list for over a year I told them it was not legal to continue to call me. The person had an Indian accent and actually tried to continue the telemarket until I was very firm and used the word legal.
