Received a call from this number today but was skeptical.  I did double check my bank account and found an unauthorized charge. I called my bank directly and they advised that the call I received was from the Mastercard fraud department.
I was able to call back and get the card closed, but will have to follow up with my bank branch to get the card reissued.
So glad that they are doing their job!

This is legitimate.  My credit union uses these idiots for fraud protection.  After my HSA card was declined twice, I called the CU who said this  company had put a block on it because they couldn't reach me to verify charges.  Funny thing is, they never tried to call me.  Ever.  Nothing in caller ID, no voice mail, nothing.  They are foreign. I kept saying, "Why didn't you call me?"  They kept explaining why the block was put on the account.  I'm fine if they want to protect me, but they need to do it right.

The Unknown voice mail message is really crappy and if star network is that unprofessional and needs my new complete debit card number to look into something then it's looking pretty obvious..lock em up!

I did contact my bank by calling the number on the back of my bank card - they advised me that yes they did indeed have them call and do a security check to be sure that I was in fact the person making the transactions on my bank card.  It is a security measure they are taking and probably trying to keep on top of things since the Target breach.  I am happy my bank is on top of things - They advised me that they will not ask for any personal information such as bank account, social security number, address, but they will verify the number the message was left on and your name.  Just wanted to give you all some positive feedback so you don't have to worry - but still you may want to stay safe and call the number on the back of your card to be sure.

It's legit. I happen to work for the Credit Union that they represented and when they did in fact verify the fraud attempts on my personal debit card, we can see them on our side too. They cancelled the card and we can immediately see it happen on our system. I would however, recommend that they update their automated message as it makes the cardholder think it's a scam.

My bank also told my wife that someone leaving a message from this number was a scam, because there were no overdrafts or anything on our account.  However, I called the number to investigate what they would ask for and it was legitimate.  They saw a spending pattern that looked like it could be fraud and they call to verify an account holder make the charges. All they ask for is the number where the message was left and your name.  That's it. If they ask for more than that I would wounder.

I am a Police Officer in Colorado. This number (1-800-327-8622) is a legitimate number to call back.  When strange purchase patterns are detected, such as a large amount charged in a single day, or several transactions in a row at a gas pump, they call to verify the transactions were made by you. All they ask for is the number they called and your name to verify you as being on the account.  They then list off the charges that are in question for you to verify. They do not ask for any other info.  If they did ask for any other info, something would be wrong.

I just called them to see if they were trying to scam people and the reason they called was because i had three consecutive charges at a Diesel pump due to the first pump freezing up and having to do two transactions to fill both my tanks.  I also paid a $200.00 bill and a $100.00 bill locally at two different retailers (Napa and True Value).  You are right to be cautious and never give out your Social Security # or baking info over the phone, unless you have verified the people asking for it, but this number is legitimate.

They're legit.  I'd had a large ticket online purchase declined this morning and some hours later got a call from these folks.  I called them back and all they wanted was for me to confirm my name and phone number and the woman then listed off a number of recent purchases that I'd made, starting with the declined one.  I confirmed they were all genuine purchases and she apologized for the trouble, saying my debit account had been flagged for unusual purchasing patterns but they would release the hold.  They never asked me for any information about my bank account, but rather told me my bank and listed a bunch of genuine recent purchases.  Not a scam.

Right you are. Got message from "Transaction Review", contacted bank who verified requestor and am about to have call returned. Some simple advice given from bank was to limit information even to TF and crew. Only verify or deny charge that will be in question. My bank stated they are there, as stated below, to protect your card. No additional information should ever be given out over phone to anyone. Keep in mind there will be others who will seek to swindle you. Use common sense.

My husband got a call regarding the card he uses for his business.   It  was used in the United Arab Emirates.  Since he has never been in the Middle East, someone had captured his number and run up an $1800.00 tab.  This outfit that called, tracks the unauthorized use of debit or credit cards.

I get calls from these ppl EVERY DAMN DAY!!! Before I even had a card at that!!! So maybe some of you have legitimate fraudelancy happening, but over here!!! There is none of that!!! I wish they would stop calling me. No strange charges, unless Jack N the Box is out of the ordinary. If we don't answer we don't want to be bothered. Just don't call anymore.

I recieved a call today and i did call. Knowing I wasnt going to give any information that could be used.  They informed me that they were checking on transactions that have occured in the last few days.  They called each one out and I confirmed.  They said thank you and explained that they will check when the computer sends up a red flag.
I called my bank and they never heard of them, BUT they are not the ones who would check.  They said the credit card company uses them.  So Mastercard, Visa or anyone of them are the ones doing the checking.  The banks would not have info on this.  Call your credit card company and they will confirm.

Check the back of your card. Does it say Star? I bet it does. That's why Star is calling you. You actually believe your bank or credit union monitors everyone's account. No, they're busy investing your money. Anyone remember the great depression - banks closed and people couldn't get there money out because the banks didn't have it anymore. There are 2 programs besides Star that all do the same thing, and every debit or credit card uses one of the companies. Star gets your transaction history before your bank does. Think of it as a bridge. On one side there's the store you're going to purchase something from. Then on the other is your bank, the bridge or star is the means in which your purchase gets from the store to your bank. That's just how it works. Be glad anyone cares enough to call. I've had them call multiple times because we're moving across country and our account is listed many states away. All they ask is your name and for you to verify so and so purchases made.

This is a legitimate service for any cards that have the Star logo on the back.  I received a call today and was not at all surprised because I knew right-a-way what transactions would have triggered it.

Having said that, my understanding is that it is very easy to mimic phone numbers now so that a legit number appears in caller id so it is best, regardless, to require that they know information about your account before you give them any info.

My bank told me it was the Star Network, who issues the card and that it's not uncommon for them to call and verify that an unusual transaction was really you.  Red flags can include large purchases and purchases outside of your general geographic area.  I tried to buy something from a site that turned out to be in China, which is suspicious, so they shut it down.  It's a good safety measure.
The down side is that your card is locked up until you call either your bank or this 800 number.
My bank said to give them a call before I do anything like that so they can add the website to my approved list.
So it's legit.  They're just protecting themselves and you.

An automated message stated my name and list my bank and said I needed to call this number to verify debit charges.  The incoming number was blocked from caller ID.
I know from past experience that my bank just deactivates my card and waits until I get embarrassed by having my card denied and make me physically go into a branch to fix the problem if they decide my dental or bill payments are fraudulent.

They wanted verify charges from our debit card with my husband, but would not speak to me even though I am a joint account holder.  I called my bank and they verified that it was the STAR Network verifying debit card usage.  I was able to verify the charges with my bank's loss prevention department.  They were questioning an online purchase made at walmart.com.....it's legit, but I would never verify anything with someone claiming to know about my account.

Received a phone call from this number made by a person named Tony.  He was calling about a possible fraud on my card.   I then called my bank and talked to someone from security.   Security said this call is actually with Visa Debit Card which is used by many banks. The call is not coming from the bank employees even though Tony used my bank's name. We did have one transaction which would've thrown a red flag for Visa. I must say, Visa needs to find another way to handle this than calling using the banks name. If I receive another call like this I'll do the same thing..call my bank's security department and verify first.

I cannot confirm if they are legitimate or if they are a scam. I got a call from 800-327-8622 stating they were Transaction Review Department.  It was an automated message with my name.  I called my bank about this, they said they do use a third party group after hours to monitor account access, but she was not sure of the name.  I know I purchased Angry Birds online yesterday, that could have prompted a flag and thus be legitimate.  However, it's always a good idea to call your bank directly to confirm all posted charges with them just to be on the safe side.  Plus that way the bank can note your account about your concern.

I got a message from an unknown number saying they are representing my bank (merchants) the message was for my husband and to call this number to verify recent transactions. I will be verifying with my bank before I tell my husband to call. Why would any legitimate business be calling from an unknown number? Seems way to weird to me.

This; number is linked to a group committing fraud.  They got a hold of my credit card number and charged several thousand dollars.  Lucky the bank caught it.  They claimed to be the Transaction  Review department of my bank. I asked him where he was at and he said the phillipines.  My bank does not use any group in the Philippines.  They are fishing for additional information to further committ fraudlent acts.

I received a call from a woman saying her name was Suzanne from 630-990-5040. She spoke very fast. I believe she said she was calling about my "web" (I don't have a website or webpage). She asked that I call her back at this number.... 1-800-323-8622 and gave me her hours for tomorrow. I'm not calling back, but wanted others to be aware of this number also callling out from a 630 area code, which is just west of Chicago.

I just received this call and message. I read several comments here Before I called the
number back. It IS legitimate. One of the transaction I made on a certain date did not go through while others did. So the rep Beth wanted to verify  that I had authorized these other transactions. And I Had. Plus I figured out why the one did not go through. I didn't have enough funds in my account to cover it. Lol.
However it pays to be cautious.

I just had the call from 800-327-8622 and I am totaly glad they did. They asked my last few transactions on my debit card and asked if I just made 2 purches to Lowles for $250.00 each in GA. I LIVE IN WIS.... I quickly looked into my account online and sure enought there is 2 transactions to Lowles. This has caused me great problems since I do not have cash and its a weekend and have no way to get any money out of my account since they shut down my debit card. I am very glad that they called on behalf of a service the credit union card service has. I work at the credit union and no that this is a security service. Please look into it more if you get a call. Maybe you did make big purches but in my case I didnt so I was able to have them shut my card down so no more transactions could come out. Again this was over a weekend.
