And My girls name was Tammy Reed, and she was actually very pleasant, and took the time to explain it all to me, so I will have to deal with this ancient old speeding ticket I suppose.. OK SO I WORK FOR A COLLECTION AGENCY AND, SINCE THEY (NBC) DO NOT FOLLOW FDCPA, ALARM BELLS WENT OFF WHEN I GOT THE CALL. I CAME HERE FIRST AND GOT CONFLICTING INFORMATION SO I DECIDED TO DO SOME MORE SNOOPING. I CALLED MUSKOGEE COUNTY AND FOUND I DO, INDEED, HAVE A WARRANT FOR A SPEEDING TICKET I HAD FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT. I FOUND OUT THAT THEY DO, IN FACT, CONTRACT THE NATIONAL BUREAU OF COLLECTIONS TO LOCATE, NOTIFY AND TAKE PAYMENTS BY PHONE FOR THEM. NBC THEN LETS THE COUNTY KNOW WHETHER IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF "VOLUNTARILY" OR NOT. THAT WAY THE COUNTY KNOWS WHO TO "PROCEED AGAINST".  APPARENTLY ABOUT 20 COUNTIES IN OKLAHOMA DO THIS. I CONTACTED THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND FOUND THAT SINCE THESE ARE WARRANTS AND NOT "DEBTS", THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FOLLOW FDCPA. THE CLERK AT MUSKOGEE COUNTY ALSO ADVISED ME TO CHECK FOR MYSELF ON ODCR.COM. THAT IS THE WEBSITE FOR OKLAHOMA COURT RECORDS. YOU CAN CHECK FOR YOURSELF IF THERE IS ANYTHING IN OKLAHOMA IN YOUR NAME. HOPE THIS HELPS BECAUSE I WAS CONFUSED!

NBC in this case means "No Brain Cells."  They have to prove the debt is real, and in writing.

if these people called you it's because you have an outstanding bench warrant for your arrest in the county they've stipulated.  call the county to verifiy for your own satisfaction if needed. if they have contacted you, it's because they have verified your physical location.  so pay them or they will tell the county where you are and have you arrested.  it is just a matter of time, they may come the very next day, but they will come eventually.  GoodLuck.  just pay for your s*** and nothing will happen.

these people warned me and i came on here and searched the number to find out what i thought was a skam.   i found out after getting a knock on my grandma's door by the caddo county sheriff dept, they were not.  hope this helps.  my grandpa had to call mr coleman and pay for my warrant before i could be released.

I received a call on Nov. 20, 2012 from this 800 number, and the person, Jim Coleman, was looking for my brother, saying he had a bench warrant and needed to contact them within the next 24 hrs or they would have to take further action. My brother said he had spoken with them last year, because they also contacted my mother to try to reach him.  When he called them, they were trying to get him to pay them $700 for a speeding ticket that was paid for in 2007. Just in case, my brother called the police department and they had no current or outstanding tickets on record for him.

I received the same message. Told me to call 800-329-6931 and ask for Rene Johnson regarding a bench warrant in Cotton County. I live in Dallas TX. It's obviously a hoax.

got a call at 704 pm today from this number a women by the name of ashely Roberts theating that if i did not have a person call her back in regaurd to some warrants from 1997 that she will have the police at that persons job by 4 o'clock just left her name and this number but the caller id had this number 405-737-6831

I recived a call telling to call 800-329-6831 say that I have an active bench warrent

This is B***s*** they told me that was going to get arrested because i didn't pay my insurance from 2008 for my car! and the call was name Anne Brown

Got a call from this person for the first time said they need to get a hold of someone by the name of my ex and my son, saying there was a bench warrant out for their arrest and had to call by 1am. Actually she spoke so quickly it was hard to catch it all without listening again, plus she cut off before giving the last 2 #s of the phone #, but finding this tells me it is the same person or organization. This practice is totally illegal, not stating that the call is for collections and making threats to those who call is also illegal.Said she was with the Custer County Police or Sheriff Dept.

I work for a funeral home. A lady of whom was not clear in identifying herself on my company ansering machine, indicated that a Patrick James Holden had a 1973 bench warrant and to call her back at 800-329-6831 before 7pm. I checked my records to see if we had handled his funeral and I didn't. I call back and someone answers "E-Trade". You know from those funny e-trade commercials with the baby? I asked her if they served bench warrants and she did not answer me, just kind of laughed. She did say she would leave a message for the account attached to my number that the person didn't get the message. I have no idea what's going on, but now I know I will not get involved with ANYTHING that has anything to do with E-Trade!!!

My mother called me today and said she had a voicemail from this same number.
The caller was Lilly Harmon (not sure about the spelling) and insisted that i call them back
for an outstanding warrant.  I have had some issues in the past that have all been cleared up
so I was wondering if it was fraudulent.  I'm wondering if there's any legal recourse.  Thanks for the info.

A person named Megan Barnes called and left a voice message claiming that I had a bench warrant and that I must call immediately at 10 am or be arrested. I have never been in trouble with the law or even had a traffic violation. I believe that it was a debt collector attempting to collect a debt through illegal and harassing means.

I've never been to Oklahoma and I keep receiving these calls.  I am calling them tomorrow to threaten filing harassment charges.  To make matters worse, they keep leaving rude messages on my parent's answering machine.

This person keeps calling. They not only call my house phone, but they got a hold of my cell phone as well. They are also calling from my previous last name not my married name.

Repeated calls from "Sandy Joy" leaving this number and insisting I return a call.  No indication of what she wants or why she's calling, I assume it's either a telemarketer or a sham collection agency.

This must be a scam I got the call and a woman ID'd herself as Meagan  Barnes with the McClain County sheriff's office for a warrant lol, I will be contacting the Atty. Gen's office in the morning since I'm a public safety officer myself! Will be getting to the bottom of this VERY SOON!

Some one called from this number and asked for my husband....said that it was regarding a Warrant they have for his arrest in Cotton County.

I got a call yesterday, from a Megan Barnes, saying how it was urgent that I return the phone call by 3:00 p.m. in regards to a bench warrant for a ticket from the year 2000. Like an idiot I panicked, and gave them my card number. But my friend told me to call my bank and cancel that card. Luckily, no charges were made. Then I googled the number and found this forum regarding the phone number. Wow......

Careful what you write on this board - this could be started by the very people who are after you. They use key names for diff people. Do not fall prey. Be strong. Called me, left voice mail saying there was a warrant out for my arrest in blahblah county.  I Figured it was some kind of scam.  Caller ID was different than the number that "Samantha Smith" left.

Got a message  relating I had a warrant for my arrest in Mustang Oklahoma. They called twice and said to ask for Julie Miller.

My mother got a call from Magan Barnes..She said I was in an accident in 2008 and I left the scene after committing assault and battery on someone and if I did not call back the police are going to find me and lock me up.

First of all I was not in an accident in 2008 and I have not lived in my mother's house in over 25 years.

NBC Collection Agency.  Very demanding when leaves a message but very nice when speak to them in person.

Beth Brown calls me at least once a week...  If there was a way to block her I would, she's really rude demanding I call her by a specific time every day she calls.... I know it's for collection, I'd just like to pay her back for her annoying calls.
