I received a call from this number...it showed AT&T Customer Care. It was their number. They wanted me to do a short survey to receive $20 off my bill. Of course the man with the heavy accent needed to verify the last 4 of my social, and my zip code. After thinking about it and reading on here, I called AT&T. They said they have no promotion going on like that. So, I had to add a pass code to my account. Unbelievable people can use actual numbers of your service provider to get your info.

They call our business over and over again and if I have to put them on hold they hang up. HELLO Solicitors...people need the phones to run their business! So annoying. I like that when they call my I phone I can block the number. Ah ha.

Voice message said, "Selena with AT&T calling to help complete a master reset on your phone."  And gave this number again.  The thing is, I don't have AT&T.  Sorry Selena.

They are spoofing the number. It's possible to make it look like a call is genuinely coming from AT&T when it is not.
Very heavy accent, almost unintelligible, offered me $20 on next bill, did not care that I rated my satisfaction with their service low (a real customer survey would ask why you're giving a low rating), then wanted my zip code. I didn't get to the part with him asking for SSN, because I told him I was not talking to him any longer. When i said I was hanging up, he got very desperate, trying to convince me it was only 2 minutes.
I have spoken to numerous customer care reps for AT&T in India, with accents, but they have been courteous and professional. Did not sound anything like this guy.
Just because a number comes up on your phone as a real number, does not mean they are calling from that number - it's fake.

Dear  Susan ,

The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not.

The DNC filed complaints are used by all agency's. You can also file complaints directly with the FTC & FCC as well.  The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Report your callers here:

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#&panel1-1
https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088.action
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

http://www.stopfraud.gov/report.html
http://www.fraud.org/

And here are the links to read and understand what the DNC's are, what they do and what they do not.

By State DNC lists:

It has been my experience that filing a complaint with the Do Not Call.gov site serves absolutely NO purpose whatsoever! I continue to get calls from the same numbers/companies and have repeatedly complained. Going to the company's site to complain sounds like the best advice, that is IF you can find one, as in the case of AT&T/Verizon.

The biggest problem -- the scammers have more advanced technology than the phone companies or those who are supposed to enforce the do not call laws. I found that out when I reported a company that violated the law, was told the Attorney General's office could not establish true identity of person who called me daily for months and months.

This morning I got a call from this number. When I called back the computer said said it was ATT but I can't imagine why ATT would call me. So I hung up before agreeing to anything.  Is it likely that I will be billed for something I did NOT agree to?

Survey
Received call stating that I was to receive $20 credit on cell phone after completion of phone survey. He asked 3 or 4 questions about service, but also asked for my 4 digit passcode which I refused to give out. He did get my zip code. Is this a scam and do I need to change anything on my cell phone account?

I got text advising me about changes to my account with AT&T and to call 800-331-0500 if I hadn't requested any changes.

I called the customer service phone number printed on my wireless bill (different from this number) and verified that 800-331-0500 is a real AT&T phone number, and that the text had been legitimate.  I recently signed up for additional services, and the text was confirming that.

So: this is NOT a scam number, unless someone is spoofing it.

Nobody cares about what you were billed for. This site is to figure out who called. The simple answer is AT&T Mobility. You shouldn't sign up for stupid freebie offers online if you don't want to pay. If your kids did it then it's still your problem, not AT&T. They have no control over the crap services that you sign up for online.

This was AT&T. A few days ago, I did chat with a live rep online (live chat) and was sent a survey via text to answer regarding my experience.  I actually had a terrible experience, and said so. Today I got a call and voicemail from this number stating they were calling back to talk to be about my experience. He did specifically mention my negative feedback and offered to go over some plan options with me.  Seems it really is AT&T ..and I will call back via the number I have for AT&T to confirm and make any changes..  I think it's offensive that people on here assume an accent is a scammer. This is America, where there are many many nationalities.  You're being stereotypical and small minded.

I got this call on April 19.   Later that day AT&T Fraud Dept shutdown my service because my number was making several hundreds of $$$ of calls from CUBA (and it wasn't me).
I suggest calling AT&T and adding an additional Security Code to you account and watch your bill.

They called my straight talk phone. I didn't answer.   Wonder what this does to the unlimited minutes and texts.  Anyone can surf things like linked and get your phone number.  what good does the do not call list do anyway.  I'm on ths list also.

Survey
Received a call today from this number saying they were AT&T customer service. I do not have an AT&T account. Caller apologized and said "I'm sorry, wrong number." If this is a legitimate call and this was actually AT&T robo-calling their account holders, how could it be a wrong number? Very suspicious.

Just got a call from this number. It really WAS AT&T, a customer service rep I've been working with on a particular issue. That said, I've got the number blocked, but if the caller is legit, they'll probably leave a message, as my rep did.
