I used to work for a company that sold long distance and 800 numbers.  On the business side they were sold in lots of five - i.e., if you bought one number you bought five at a time.  Just because the 800 number in the previous message is not the one that is calling you, doesn't mean they don't own it.  Only means that's the one they give out to the general public.

Funny - they never leave a mesage, just hang up when the machine picks up.

It's called Protocol.  Says financial company, but it is a collection agency I believe.

I'm a licensed PI and am licensed with my local police department and when I told them that, in his broken accent, just said he would remove the number from his system.  My number is a business number and they have no business calling this number for any relatives of mine.

i don't know why this place keeps calling my house everyday but they never say anything.i would just like them to stop this .

I receive calls daily from this number, asking for Hood. I called the number, and requested  who they were and location. The person would not provide the information. I was told if my name was not Hood, I had no reason to contact them and the person cut the call off.

This number calls my home everyday, they ask for someone who does not live here? I have told them I just recently obtained this phone number and that the person they are needing does not live here. They told me I was lying and that I would be getting documents proving I was lying about who lived at my home. All I can say is when you can speak better English and when you call me from somewhere within the US and not India then call back! And get your info correct or STOP F#%&ING CALLING ME or I am going to report you to the proper authorities !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my MOM got the call from a James Morrison at extension 4236
from this company.  FIRST OF ALL, the guy tells her he has MY address. I haven't lived at my moms for 2 years. yet, there is a document that he has sent me?  nope, i live at the adress you have and i have recieved NO documents. SECONDLY, i haven't received a call from them... only to my mothers... aren't there laws about that?!?!   privacy laws that prohibit personal information from goin to someone other than me?!  i'm over 18...the laws are in effect.

I got a call for someone named Eric. I just told "sam" that Eric would be away until November and that I wouldf get a message to him. The number he was calling from was 1-800-749-6434 Ext 4577. His name was "sam"...I dont know Eric nor do I care who he is. But I did have fun telling "sam" Eric was out of the country until November. When they call back in November, Eric has decided to have moved to Dubai..lucky Eric!!

himself at all.  Who do I report this do, he is scaring me
and threatening me.

I received a call for my son.  The woman (with a very pronounced accent) stated that they needed to talk to my son about a bill he owes. First of all my son does not have any bills. Then tells me not to waste their time. First of all they are the ones that called my place. I called her back and they hung up on me. The name and business of the company.  She stated it was Capital One credit card.

I have a letter from them so I know this is actually

They also use these numbers to call you from:  877-553-3114 or 212-299-3722 or 878-274-9847 or 800-749-6434.  A male voice who calls himself Hellen Keller has left messages on my answering machine looking for someone who is not here.  

I no longer answer these calls or send their mail back to them.  They are rude and will not shut their mouths long enough for me to tell them anything.

Like above. URGENT and CONCERNED call from Steve @*%#)# (Howe maybe?). My information has come across his desk and he'll have to make a decision! He's willing to help me PLEASE CALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AT...! Then a completely different and accented voice gives this number. The message, which is badly distorted (too close to the microphone?) repeats on my answering machine about 4 times. This message is so badly done (recorded as well as designed) that I'm not about to call this joker. I'll file a complaint with the FCC and/or the FTC, but this thing drips of unscrupulous abuse.

I am glad that I check numbers like this out before I return the call.  This is a collections company that does not even have its facts straight.  Armed with the info from this site and from a couple of others, I called the person back only to find that I was supposed to have a $5,000 plus debt that I know nothing about.  It was definitely a ploy to get information.  When I refused to give it, the person got indignant.  The script they read from was exactly the same as Christine's only it was a man with a very pronounced accent "This is an urgent message and a decision would be made today, so please call hime back at 800-335-0872" then give a reference number.  I asked for a supervisor and was told that "a supervisor will not come to the phone."  I

I recieved call from this number not knowing what it was called it back and it just rang. After reading everyones comments I am glad I did not get a hold of anyone. Does anyone know how to get them to quit calling?

I received a message for an ex-roommate.  The woman (with a very pronounced accent) stated the message was urgent and a decision would be made today, so please call her back at 800-335-0872 ext. 4301 and reference the document number (that she left on the message).  I called her back and asked the name and business of the company.  She stated it was Amaris (not sure of the spelling) Associates, a financial company.

Call them and tell them them that can can only contact you at your phone number and if they call any of your family, friends or neighbors that you will be contacting your lawyer. Also try to contact capital 1 and see about setting up a payment plan with them. Alot of times they will try to work something out with you.

Do you know anything about these people and if it is legitimate?  They say they have a document for me.  I can't call them right now because I have no money and I am afraid of what they will say.

Get yourself a consumer law attorney and file for bankruptcy. If you can't afford one, contact your local legal aid society for assistance.

There is NO shame in getting legal protection from these bottom feeders and declaring yourself insolvent. I am in the same boat and will be doing the same shortly.

I admit I do owe a bill to Capital One for $4,000.00.  I have talked to these people a few months ago.  They told me I had to pay $2,000.00 within the week or it would be turned over and would no longer be in their office.  They told me to borrow the money.  I have lost my job and I do not have money to pay my basic needs.  It is something I am not proud of but the truth.  I am ashamed and scared.   They have been calling my relatives and say that they have a document for me.  My mother has no idea what this is about and they keep saying they will call her back.  I do not want to talk to these people because I have no money.  I wish I could just go back and pay Capital One a monthly fee to get rid of the account.  They do call my house, the number comes up on caller ID and is the same number that is given to my friends, family and landlord.  I do not understand why they insist on humiliating me with all these people when they obvious have my number.  And by the way, my number is unlisted and no one I know gave it to them, they obtained it illegally.  Does anyone have any advice on how I can handle this?  Please do not criticize me, you have no clue unless you have been through it yourself.

Yeah, just got a call in regards to my son "Nathan".  I have an adult son who has never lived with us at this address or ever had reason to list my home number to a creditor.  Sounds Phishy for sure...

Sorry but the MSR or McCabe, Smith, Reynolds & Associates you listed IS NOT the MSR you are refering to, if you note, you even listed their 800# and it's not the one your are receiving calls from, and they are NOT located in NY.
