Received a call from this number this morning. Same deal...they're from Windows and I have a virus on my computer. I strung out the call as along as I could but they hung up after 'Mike Allen' told me I could call him back at this number.

This is a proven scam. Search on Microsoft Tech Support Scam or Windows Tech Support Scam. They claim there is a virus on your computer sending out error messages and that it is going to crash any minute now if you don't let them help you "fix" the problem. The have you bring up Event View which is a log of things that happen in Windows which shows a lot of Warnings and Errors, all of which are perfectly normal. They then want you to go to a website which will let them access your computer remotely to "fix" all those problems. Instead the install malware which freezes your computer then they will charge you whatever outrageous amount you will agree to to remove it. Or they say the have removed it but left another piece of malware that records userids and passwords to websites, gathers bank account and credit card information and sends it to their servers to engage in indentity theft.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO ANYTHING THEY ASK.
Tell them they are known criminals and laugh at them or othewise amuse yourself at their expense.
said they are hired by microsoft to fix online viruses and wanted me to follow instructions, asked for call back number and they gave 800-343-6171. seemed fishy or Phishey.
