Debt Collector
RBS card services, formerly Peoples Bank, also known as Citizens Bank.  You probably have an account with one of these, or if not, them let them know so they can remove you from the system.

Wow. I had a missed call from this number. when i called back, it was for a "Credit Card Services" there was no option to speak to anyone but it asked for your 16 digit credit card number. This is obviously a scam... they just want to scare you into thinking there is something wrong w/ your acct and hv you give them your card number.

This call is from Royal Bank of Scotland known in the states as RBS and also Citizens Bank.
This was formally People's Bank until taken over by RBS a few years ago.
Call is probably legit if you hold one of the above named credit or debit cards.
It is probably about a missed payment, but don't know what other info they want to tell you.
You would have to go through the security questions to find out. I think they should just verify your account number and card security questions rather than ask for Social Security numbers etc.
This would help as I certainly do not give out my SS number unless i know for saure who I am talking to and it is absolutely neccessary.

A legitimate credit card company will never ask for your social security number.  The call from this number asked for my son's last four digits.  I slammed the phone down at that point.

I recieved a message from this same number, They did not identified their self; which is a definite no-no.  I looked up the Number on Goggle. This is a fraudlent number, possiblly using a cell phone.  I believe that a truly legitimte caller is identified by a caller id, that same who rhwy are and that the or acting as a agent for whoever.
[My name is Liz Smith and I am calling for Whatso in relation to a business matter on the 12th Of Never 0000. My number is 1-111-111-1111 please go at your convience/  Thank You!]

CallerID only. Note that it corresponded to non-matching sources (RBS and Citizens Bank).  If companies lack the moral or technical capability to directly associate phone numbers with the firm (accessible via online search), they should not call-- automated directory searches reject the number as potentially fraudulent.  Maybe Google Voice will adopt this policy.

I received a VM today (12-30-08) asking me to call "Credit Card Services" at 800-345-0207. She mentioned their hour of operations and that it was very important for me to return their call. I do not and have not ever done business with a Citizens Bank and I won't return the call. When looking back at past calls received, I noticed this number called me once before at 10:42PM. My number is a relatively new number, only 7 weeks old.

I received the same call except mine was by an automated caller, here are my comments:
12/05/08:  This seems to be fraud operation.  I have checked many of the credit card companies, such as Chase,  of A, Wells Fargo, and Amex, who may be using a third party billing srvice, non of them are named "Credit Card Services".  additionally, when the automated call asks you to call the 800 number it does not introduce itself, or state the purpose of the call, this is not normal for ligitimate credit card companies.
Almost all of the ligit credit cards ask only for the last 4 digits of the account number and not all 16 digits.
Also if this 800 number was ligit, it should respond by a lie operator when you press "0".  There are many other reasons fo me to believe that this is a fradulant peration.

FYI, its legit.  I work for RBS in Bridgeport CT.  When we cannot locate cardholders who are past due we try directory assistance.  You can call a local Citizens Bank and they should be able to verify this is the collections #.  Most likely you have the same name in the same city as the cardholder.  Hope this helps.

A service representative called on a Sunday in November 2007 and left a voicemail message for "Dr." and <my husband's first and last name.> The voicemail message was regarding "the banking matter" that the client has. The company needed to hear back from the client within a few days and wanted to provide some information of which the client may not be aware.
I called back to determine the nature of the call. The representative asked for my husband's social security number or his mother's maiden name. I don't think so!
The representative indicated she got our telephone number from directory assistance. My husband is not a doctor and does not hold a doctoral degree.
I don't know if the company is an actual business or not. The number that displayed on our caller ID is CT 203-551-5997. When I called the number an automated message indicated that it is a non-working number for credit card services, check the number and try again.
The automated prompt for the 800 number (800-345-0207) does not provide the complete business name - only Credit Card Services.
