I keep getting calls from this same number.  And today, yesterday, and the day before yesterday they have left a really weird sounding (like they are in a tunnel) message on my answering machine.   Instead of calling the number they gave on their message to me I simply called Discover Card using the telephone # on my card for Discover.   The rep  I spoke to said this is a "fishing" scam phone call.  They also told me there was nothing even remotely wrong with my Discover Card account.  These phone calls are 100 percent BOGUS and have NOTHING to do with Discover Card.

My advice would be to simply block this number if you can do so on your phone - or simply ignore them.

Claims to be Discover card and leaves messages wanting to give me "savings opportunities." I called Discover's actual number and they said it might be their collection dept. wanting to set up automatic payments, because once interest accrued I was $2.40 over the limit. I just paid online and the calls stopped. But they DO call 6-7 times most days which seems ridiculous for being $2.40 over the limit for about five days, and the push to get me to sign for automatic payments was really off putting.

Have had 3 calls today, Sat. so far. Of course they do not leave a message. Calls started at 8am. when you want to sleep in on the weekend. I am not happy with Discover if they are the ones calling me. There is no emergency, I pay on time, am not over my limit, etc. When I do get someone to talk to, I will definitely let them know that they are losing a customer over these calls.

I just called Discover directly 1-800-DISCOVER and they said this number is not their number and there is no record of them calling me. They also said that scammers will use their recordings to make the call back seem legit.

PuhLeeeeeze!!!!! These peeps are full of it, scammers royal, no matter what 'some' others have posted on here(they are employed there, obviously)! Thank the good Lord I have call blocking and have blocked them now for the past two weeks....they would call 9 freaking times daily, I mean, why is it necessary to call that many times anyways, if you're NOT a scammer, hmmm?  8:45 a.m. then again at 9.10 am then again at 10:30, etc, etc.....nobody officially from Discover would call in that fashion, and if it was that important, they would send you mail or an email to let you know, so don't buy into the BS that some bozos on here have posted, that they are legit and want to truly try to 'help' you....what CRAP! Just like Obama trying to 'help' you with his obamacare b.s. Well, I guess even morons like them bought a clue, and for the first time, have not called me yesterday or today. Funny how that works, hmm?! F them and all of their ilk!!!!

I received 6 calls on my cell phone today from 800 347-4057. I answered it after the 6th call.  It was "Michael" from Discover Card calling to say he had been "reviewing my payment history and that everything looked good" I started to ask a question, and then, click.  He hung up. So annoying....Don't waste your time answering this call and if you can, block the number.

Been receiving calls from this number for 2 days.  I finally got annoyed and called Discover directly.  The customer service rep advised that the number is not a valid Discover Card phone number.
Avoid at all costs!

This number has been harassing me for nearly 2 weeks now (21 calls total), finally today they left a message claiming to be Discover and to call back the number. I went to the Discover website and called their 800 number and the customer service rep I spoke to said there were no notes on the account to indicate anything was wrong and confirmed that my account was current. Scam.

All of the Discover employees on here are not being truthful.   My account is one half of my limit.  Paid current and paid each month.  These calls are about paperless billing and auto bill pay.  To make it easier and cheaper for discover to operate.  It is not about helping us!  I pay my bill!  If I want these services I would sign up for them!  Leave me alone!

It is Discover, but they are not necessarily being helpful! Because of interest I was a whole $3 over my limit and the guy who called let me know, so I told him I would pay a few bucks online right now. He immediately said he would set me up for automatic withdrawals from my bank and I said no. He demanded to know why and I said it wasn't his business, I was happy to pay online manually. Again, he said "We'll get you set up right now." Didn't even ask, just started to do it, and I told him in no uncertain terms that if Discover set me up on an automatic pay plan from my bank without my permission, there would be trouble, and I hung up. I wouldn't consider this a "service" from Discover but rather an opportunity to harass users into products they don't want.

I have a discover card and when they first started calling I looked to make sure I hadn't forgotten a payment, I hadn't, and I'm not over my credit limit so I'm sure they are calling to try to sell me a protection plan. Its annoying because my husband is convinced I've managed to miss a payment so I had to show him my account is not only paid, but I showed him the history of on-time payments.

So I guess they can be calling some of you to tell you your over your limit but Im not and they are still calling me.

It was Discover, and they wanted to verify info on file. Once this was done she let me know my account was ingod standing and they were trying to have me set up autopay and give me a $50 credit towards my account. I do have 7,000 balance and let them know I was making a 4,000 dollar payment tomorrow, my payment isnt due for two weeks and then I am transferring the rmaining balance to a 0% for 15 months with a 3% trans fee. It will save me a ton. Last one I have, 34,000 indebt will finally be paid off and I do not wanna go back there again!!! They are not unresonable, if you just talk to tgem people and if u have no account let em know and the calls will stop...:-)

Yes, it's Discover.  I just called the number and they wanted to see if any of my information needed to be updated.   They were able to pull up my account just by the number I called from.. I didn't need to provide any accout numbers.  They verified the mailing address and telephone number.

The pitch was to sign up for auto bill pay.. Said that if I signed up, they could credit my account $50.00.

Yes Becky, I think it is Discover Card telemarketing.   They call every morning around 8:30 and then twice more during the day.  I simply hit "answer" and then "off" so they don't get my message.  For the 8:30 call I just take it off the hook if I want to sleep in.

Thanks Miona....I receive calls from this number at just about the same hours of the day that you do.
I think it is Discover Card telemarketing....but not really sure because I simply hit answer and then hit
off so they don't get my message.

LED reads "unavailable"; if the call is legit, why doesn't the caller identify himself? My policy is to never answer calls that won't identify themselves.

Well, i actually am a stay at home mom. I was infuriated when I read those comments, because in fact they had been calling me...for months! Finally, I called back and asked them why they're calling. That's what they told me. I was completely rude to them when I finally ended up calling back, come to find out why they were calling.

Certain laws prohibit credit card companies to leave your personal information on messages, such as company the rep is calling from, and even the reason of the call. You might want to call them back.

If you called into the general Discover customer service department, they don't have that number handy for you as verification, because it's not their customer service's number. It's a different department, and it's NOT SALES. You might want to pick up your phone, because it could actually be something wrong. Certain state laws also prohibit companies from leaving messages during certain hours.

I can verify for a fact that is Discover Financial Services calling for your daughter. This number contacted me, and it really was them. I found out by calling their customer service, said I'd been called recently, they transferred me over to a department that told me I was over my line of credit and wanted to advise me before it hit my credit report. Big thanks to the people you think are scammers. They saved me from a negative mark on my credit. Also, think about it this way... If you have caller ID, and if you wanted to take down a contact's information, you'd have it right there infront of you to copy. Discover Card probably has caller ID, and if she ever used your phone to call them for something, then the system probably copied it onto her account information.

If a credit card company has called you past 8PM, you should verify that they have your address and phone number's area code linked to the same state. Sometimes, they'll call based on your timezone location, not the area code. Try seeing if any contact information needs to be updated. If the company that's calling is Discover Card, then call the general number for their customer service and ask to be connected to their card member assistance area. They'll fix the late time calling issue.
