Seriously, this is a sophisticated SCAM. After I received this message I called 800-DISCOVER, their legit customer service #, was assured that there were NO fraud inquiries on my account (I hadn't even made any transactions this year). I gave them the number that the automated message told me to call, and they (Discover) did NOT have it in their database.

ALWAYS go through a known number/website for the company in question. Calling the number the message gives you is like clicking on a link in an unsolicited e-mail.

This is not a scam.  I logged into my Discover account and there was a message there showing suspected fraudlent activity.  I called the number that Discover website showed.  These were charges on the West Coast and I'm on the East Coast.  Yes, do yourself a favor and do not ignore this call.

It's a good number.  I called 800-DISCOVER to verify it and they affirmed that it was valid.

Yes, It's Discover Card fraud alert & protection. I made several large purchases related to camera equipment over a week's time with the last two (and largest) to be shipped to the out-of-state location where we are headed. I was glad they called to check on the validity of the purchases!

My habit now is to CHECK THE NO. IMMEDIATELY on my PC when an unrecognizable no. comes in.
IF IMPORTANT, THE PARTY WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE!
I have the "NO CALL" on my phone, also. It has to be redialed often, tho. When you start getting
a LOT of unknown nos....it's time to redial the "NO CALL", for sure.
Somehow, tho, it seems these companies know what kind of no. to use to get through...so,
it's always going to happen.

They should change their listing from Toll Free. If I answered every toll free call I receive, I would spend more time on the phone with strangers than loved oves. Meanwhile, I'm having to verify charges monthly because my husband lives in a different state and their notes in file don't ever seem to be implemented. I would ALWAYS answer a call from Discover fraud unit because calling in after the fact robs me of half an hour of my all too limited private time.

This number is legitimate.  Don't worry.  It's Discover.  I got a call from them because someone made 2 big transactions using my card and they wanted to verify it.  Be careful when using credit card!!!  It is not a scam.

It is Discover fraud department.  I am a business owner and have 5 employees with cards.  My business is transportation/delivery and they have to use the cards to fill their vans up with gas daily.  I like that Discover is looking out for me but I'm getting these calls weekly and I can't always track down each driver to see who put specific dollar amounts worth of gas/diesel in their vans.  It's become a little frustrating on the frequency of the calls.

This is legitimately Discover Fraud Prevention.

After receiving this call about 3 suspicious transactions, I looked up the phone number. I didn't see it on the Discover website, so I called 1-800-DISCOVER (which is listed on the back of the card) to check if it was legit. They transferred me straight to fraud prevention, where they verified my identity and asked me about those three transactions.

800-350-4577 is a Discover Card fraud protection number. They called me after a $3500 purchase I made on-line rejected. I also received an email from Discover Card concerning the purchase. When I returned the call, the automated attendant started listing recent purchases I had made and requested pressing a particular number button to indicate if the purchase was OK or not. When it finally got to the $3500 purchase, I pressed the number button to indicate it was fraud and was able to talk to a live person. I then told him that the purchase was desired but had rejected. He the "reset" my account and told me to make the purchase again and this time it went through. How can this be a scam???????????????

800-350-4577 is a scam.
I also got a call from 800-350-4577 which ID Unknown name. I called the number and it claimed to be the Discover Fraud line. I said I had to run and would call back in 5 minutes.
I called the number on back of a Discover Card, 1-800-347-2683 {1 800- Discover}. The Discover Card representative said they do NOT have any numbers that start with 800-347.
They recorded all the information I had on the call. They WANT everyone that receives such a call to report it to Discover so they can hunt down the jerk and prosecute him to the full extent of the law.

Legitimate Discover Card fraud prevention phone number. If all transactions are OK, you will not get past the automated attendant. If however, a transaction is fraud and you indicate such by pressing the particular phone number key, a live person will come on line to resolve the issue. They DID not ask for any personal information other than my name.

After reading previous comments, I went online and called Discover with the number listed on their website. I didn't trust this number.  It really is Discover's Fraud Prevention calling from 800-350-4577.  They wanted to know about specific transactions that I did make, but I am very glad that they are being proactive and checking to make sure fraudulent activity is not taking place. I saw no appropriate call type on the list so I left the call type as "unknown."

This number called my house twice within a couple of hours so I looked up the number. So many people said it was legit that I called back. It is a legit number, it is Discover Fraud Dept. I didn't have to give them any information at all. I called back from my home phone so I didn't even have to give them my number. It was all automated and asked me to verify three transactions. After I verified the transactions the recording said my card was again active. I assume my last transaction this morning locked the card. Good to know they are looking out, especially after that Target stuff around Christmas. Discover canceled our card because of the Target stuff and sent a new one Fed Ex because it was the holidays and Discover is our main card. I have no complaints about them, great company!

I received a call from this number asking about a credit charge I did not make. The person said I will connect you with our
fraud dept. The background sounds were like the telemarketers. I was asked my credit card  number for Discover and I gave it. She said the number is not found. I was put on hold and when she came back she wanted to know my social security number. I refused to give it to her. She said I cannot help you without it. I hung up. Called the number on the back of my credit card. Discover could not have been nicer! There had been a fraudulent charge tried to be placed on my account and it had been denied. My old card is destroyed and a new one is on the way. Discover is great! Keep a record of this number and do not give them any information.

It's a legitimate phone call from Discover. They caught a couple of fraud charges on my husband's card and called both his cell and the home phone looking for him to verify purchases. One charge was for over 6k! You should call Discover if you get a call from this number!

This number is Discover card fraud prevention. Don't know why they didn't leave a message-- they usually do.  But it's a legitimate call and you should call them back either on this number or on the number on the back of your card for your protection.

This is NOT a scam. This is the Discover fraud prevention line. If they call you, call them back FAST. They alerted me to $500 in bogus charges on my card which were verified on the Discover website as well as a follow up email.

This is an actual call from Discover.  I called this number back, and the system automatically detected I was calling back from the number they called.  I was asked to verify three (3) recent charges.  The system read aloud the name of the merchant and the amount.  For each one, I was asked to press 1 if I authorized it.  That's it.  About 2 minutes after I completed the call, I also got a text message from Discover confirming my authorization.  This might only happen if you have text alerts enabled in your account (which I do).

If it would have asked for my card or social security number, I was going to hang-up and dial the 1-800-DISCOVER number.  However, this process was easy and resulted in no information given to them that could enable them to steal an identify.

This automated call came through on my phone warning me of suspicious activity. I also got a text, but I did not have my records with me. When I got home I logged into my Discover account and there was a fraud alert, notifying me of the same activity. It really is Discover.

This actually is Discover.  They will tell you so, when you call the number on the card.  When you dial the number, all it asks is the phone number where they left the message.  No account number, no zipcode, nothing.  It then reads some of your recent transactions to you.

Can't steal an ID from what they asked for.

I got the same automated call on 3 transactions from this ph. number.  If you are concerned on whether it is Discover calling or not, do the following:

1) call 800-discover number
2) enter the standard information to validate who you are
3) select option for 'agent' or 'representative'
4) it will automatically route you to an automated theft prevention message and ask you to confirm the questionable transactions (purely automated).  respond appropriately.

This number called me and left a message on my answering machine.  When I called them back, it asked me to confirm the phone number that had been called... which was the phone I was holding.  It did not recognize the phone number and transferred me to a person that asked me for my credit card number.  I refused and called the number on the back of the card and asked for fraud prevention.  Fraud Prevention said they NEVER ask for a credit card number.  Sooooooo, trust this phone number at your peril.

This is the Discover Card fraud line.  My guess at the people getting calls that do not have discover cards would be that someone made an error entering their phone number when they set up their discover account.  When they call they do not ask for any personal information other than to verify that a specific charge that you made is really yours.  They provide all of the information and do not ask for card number or anything like that.
