I just got a call from this number.  I didn't answer it--I was busy.  It was extremely difficult to understand the person who left the message, but after reading these posts, I now can tell that he said he's with UCL and he's calling me in regards to a friend's loan.

I also received a call from "Claudia" saying she was from UCL, that I was listed by "friend" as a reference and she could not get ahold of my "friend" and for me have "friend" call her back at this 800 number, ext. 2051.  Ridiculous....SCAM

But what of d friend didnt know they put their name as a reference? Don't u think they need that friends signature to be a co sign?

I have also been receiving calls from this company. They just identify themselves as UCL. They refuse to say what it stands for or who they are unless I give them my name. I also receive the phone calls from the time 4 to 6 p.m. I just hang up. They refuse to stop calling!  I looked them up online on google, you only find out if you actually type in UCL Debt Collectors. I probably owe them money but, i just had radical breast mastectomy, I am facing ovarian cancer and I also have uncontrolled epilepsy. I am also facing a possible brain surgery to see if that will help my epilepsy get "controlled." So what do I do?

I am unable to work, due to all my illnesses and my spouse left me because he couldn't "handle" my health problems. So I am without income. I am glad I found this website.

I also recieved a call on my cell phone regarding my mom...who died this past February. Needless to say...it's irritating.

Receive about 10 calls a day, half on cell, half.on home phone. Two friends were called I requested an email to let me know what its about. I'm pretty sure I was hacked and my bank debit card stolen . I closed the account but these guys think I owe then and interest is. Is 125% per month.I just want to clear it up but can't seem to get it done with the callers.

They called but wouldn't leave any detail of what they want but they want you to call them back and I hate phone calls like that

UCL are hard in their tactics to get you to pay.  I have contracted with a PDL consolidator and have told UCL THAT.  They did stop calling for a while but it's kicked in again now that it's tax season.

This company "UCL" called me wanting to put me on a recorded line to ask, not about me, but about a friend from long ago.  I told them they should call this "friend" themselves and I do not wish them to call me again.

I have a loan outstanding i plan on paying this loan off cause the interest is outrageous. I have other legal alternatives to take care of this particular matter. I know their taking advantage to the american public through the ways of the internet.

I just received a call on my cell phone from the same number currently i am paying all credits through chapter 13 so they will have to cease and assist.

I am a Supervisor who took over the extension of the person these people are trying to call. I am also a licensed debt collector. I have advised that I am NOT the person they are looking for, and that I am her supervisor, and that she cannot accept calls at work. I have also told them that if they are licensed debt collectors, they should know the FDCPA rules, and they cannot call a number that they have been told not to call. Especially a debtors employer. The problem is, when its time to report them, who are they? I am so frustrated with it, my phone rings off the hook.

LIAR is correct. In validating/disputing debt, there must be a clear and present signature of the debtor. References are only used to call at the point of default, and it is illegal to attach any other persons debt to their credit because their name was jotted down on a piece of paper. People need to go to FDCPA website.

All good points BUT- a debt collector, per FDCPA rules, cannot continue to contact your employer if they have been told repeatedly (as I have told them over and over again) that the person they are calling for cannot accept calls. Same with your friends and family. It is the law that they remove their numbers. You can also Cease & Desist calls/letters in writing - however I am unable to find an address for them. I am a licensed debt collector, and I know that they are breaking the rules by calling the debtors place of business if told not to. I have told them 12 times. I read somewhere that they aren't even licensed debt collectors, in this case, in Utah.

I got a call from this UCL today too about one of my sister's. His name was Paul and left the 1-800 number along with his extension of 2017. When I asked him what is UCL he just said he is not selling anything and to have my sister call him back. Not a chance for that Mr. Paul. I believe this is some kind of scam too.

i got a loan from them for 300 and then they raised it to 509 and i was scamed into paying 598.09 from another so called law company for them and now they said i still owe them, and they keep calling, so what can they do? i dont want to pay anymore money! could they take legal action on me?? please respond if anyone knows, my email is glennjr27@yahoo.com thank you so much, oh yea and the first number that i even got the loan from was 8885991720 that is not even in service anymore, what a scam, but they did loan me the 300

Received a call from a very polite young lady asking me to get in touch with my daugher, who had
given me as a reference. I asked if she would please tell me what UCL represented. She said that
it was illigel to give me confidential information of any sort. She gave me the phone number
1 800354 0602 and asked me to have my daughter call her. She said that she had been unable
to contact her and had tried several times.I told her that I would relay her message,but I also told
her that my daughers affairs were none of my business and not to call me back.
