Debt Collector
These folks are calling my house, cell phone, parents house and my church. They have given my pastor my SS number and harassed him accusing him of not paying his bill. They are scum, I don't owe any collectors or past unpaid debts. They try to be nice until you ask them to prove the debt. Then they get rude and nasty with you. They tell you they are going to take legal action against you. Sent them a registered letter to cease all contact and CCd the attorney general's office in NJ and the state I live in. So far no more contact.

I got a call from Lynn Stein from ABM Financial saying that I owed money from my house that was foreclosed 3 years ago. I got suspicious after I set up a payment plan because I had never heard from the company that foreclosed on my house trying to collect this debt in this 3 year time span. As far as I know everything was taken care of. After I did some looking up, it appears I do not owe anything on the house anymore. I did owe the amount they are asking for but for something completely different from 5 years ago. On Monday I'm going to call that lender and see if they sold my account to this collection agency, but I'm starting to panic that I just gave money and my debit card number to the wrong person! I've been working hard to improve my credit and take care of things that I messed up on when I was younger, and I think someone just took advantage of that! She was very rude and demanded that I make a payment before hanging up the phone or basically they would sue me and garnish my husband's wages. She wouldn't even let me hang up with her to call my husband to see how much we could afford to pay immediately (he takes care of most of the bills) and call her right back. She kept referring to me by my maiden name even though I told her my married name. Another suspicious thing is that this debt was supposedly due to our home foreclosure, but she said my name was the only one on the account, not my husband's also, yet his name was also on the house and the loan for it.

Received message on answering machine from Henry Jackson with a "it is imperitive that you call my office immediately" and he gave a reference number.  Thought I would "google" the phone number and certainly was glad I did!  How do these people live with themselves!

I've been receiving calls from 609-570-3039 & 800-355-0123. This a company called ATM Financial Solutions. I don't answer calls from #'s I don't recognize but I called back. The woman put me through to a man called Tom Brewer. I asked him what type of company it was and he wouldn't answer me. He put my phone number in (got it off caller ID) and asked me if I was who I am. I said no that I was my sister.
He asked me when he could call back & I said that she(me) usually didn't answer calls from unknown #'s. I asked him what this was in reference to as I could let her(me) know. He said that it was a personal matter. I told him that she (I) wouldn't return the call if she (I) didn't know the reason for it and he just gave me a reference # and said to have her (me) call.
I googled the name of the company and all I could find was this 800notes site with many major complaints about them.
I will not be calling them back nor will I be answering anymore calls from those numbers.
I am on the Nat'l. No call list but I still receive calls.
It seems to me that whether you paid the debt, are in the process of paying the debt, or if it is charged off, paid off or whatever they're going to keep calling and harassing no matter what!

I just got a voice mail from someone claiming to be "Diane Ponnis" from the number you mentioned. She said she was calling in reference to a file in their office, about an issue they needed to speak to me about. However, they were asking for a "Peggy Moyer", maybe trying to scam someone who had my number previously. Either way I left them a rather colorful message that may knock their head into place.

Hi NC,

What did Alan Wolf want? He just called us and I think it's a scam.  Did he claim that you had an old debt?  Did he try to call back after you told him that you wouldn't relay the call?  thanks.

Your comments are incorrect... I am one of the so=called "bottom=feeders that you talk about in your comments... First, You should understand that if the debt is yours you should pay it... Second, the 4 year time period you are talking about is call the Statue of Limitations and is not the same for every state, it can range from 3 years to 15 years.... GET YOUR INFORMATION CORRECT.... Remember that if it is your debt, YOU REQUESTED THE DEBT, SO PAY IT!!!

Agreed!
Anything over 7 years old you don't have to pay.
It is also illegal for them to attempt to COLLECT such outdated debts.
Do your research people. Or get a lawyer/attorney.

write a letter to the attorney general's office and your representatives! (state and national)
My in-laws got a call about me from the Law office of Laurence Hecker. I've never lived with my inlaws and we've got completely different last names.
They are very rude. Especially Holly Summers.
We (as consumers) need debt collection agencies to give full disclosure of who they really are and a business address.
Who would give money to someone who can't put an agreement in writing? I'm not an idiot.

The best way to approach these people is by mail only.  Do not contact them by telephone.  Use the name of the attorney who tried to contact you and mail them the telephone number you want them to have in their file.  Tell them that they are only authorized to contact you at this ONE number.  This is your legal right.  Mail the letter to (Name of Attorney), 2C South Gold Dr., Hamilton, NJ 08691.  Send this to them certified mail with return receipt.

Tell them also that you do not do business by telelphone and they can contact you by mail and give them your correct address.  If someone tries to call you at the new number you have given them, just calmly state that you do not do business by telephone and that they may contact you by mail.  They will give you all types of excuses and threats, just calmly state again that you do not do business by phone, please contact you in the mail.  And hang up.  They will eventually stop calling I assure you.

If you get any information in the mail from them (which I doubt you will, but if you do) then state in a letter to them that the balance does not match your records and you would like a detailed listing of how the balance was determined including all interest and fees listed by date.  This is your legal right.  Tell them in the letter that you understand that by law they are not to contact you again (including by telephone) until this information has been provided to you.  That will probably be the last you ever hear from them.  That is the case in most of these situations and in my case this has been the case EVERY time.  They only attact the ones they feel are weaker and they move on to them.

Don't be one of the weaker ones.  Be strong, have faith, and persevere.  It will work.

My Landlord received a message from this attorney's office stating that they knew I didn't live there but had used him as a referance and they wanted him to forward an urgent message to me.  (Just what I need is my landlord thinking I have legal trouble.)  Since the message didn't have any details except the case number and number to call I did not call the number back.  I don't have any legal troubles of any kind so wondered why an attorney was looking for me.  I had been getting unknown calls on my cell but I don't answer unknown calls.  So I figured this was the same thing.  Reading the previous messsages here it looks like it is for a collection acct from 2001.  Let it go already....

I received a phone call 3/28/08 and when I called them back, I asked for Michael and a woman took the call. This is on a Rewards666 card that I never used.  Had problems activiting the card and I decided after 3 months of not being able to use card that I would cancel card.  I did.  They placed this acct with this firm and now I am told that I have to pay a payment before the end of the month.  LOL  After the Woman hung up on me. I called and spoke to Michael, who at first was nice, but than when I told him I could not pay anything till next month he got an attitude.  I first told them not to contact me at work, and left a cell number for them to call. Trying to do the right thing and work out payments.  He told me that if he did not get a payment by the end of the month he would have to note account as "refusal to pay".  I told him if he did he would be lying.  He said a lot of different things and I finally told him that I was turing this over to God and he asked me not to bring religion into this. Michael asked what did God have to do with this and I said God has everything to do with this and told him to have a blessed day.  Thanks for the info above.  I am writing a letter and mailing it.  God will do the rest.

I got a call from a "Maria Ortiz" using her cell phone 609 209-3170 claiming to to be an attorney while at work on my company cell phone. She sounded real cute though.  Anyway, I reversed the caller id and found out it was a cell phone from New Jersey.  When I told her I had Identity theft, with police reports, and notified her that I was aware of my rights she quickly and abruptly hung up.

Received a call from John Brown who never came off nice at all. From the start of things he was very rude.  He continued to call me at work yelling over the phone and threatening to send a VOD to my human resource department, so I told him to do whatever he had to do.  I told him to call me at home and he stated that he did but could never get me. He called my job at least six times that day. I was so furious, so when I got home I called him and told him just what I thought about him calling my job. I told him that I really did not give a dam about him calling me at work, however I was only upset because I could not talk to him like I wanted to due to trying to maintain some type of professionalism.  However, I did make an initial $129.00 payment to them but will be making the remaining $275.00 at my leisure.  I am mailing off my letter today certified to end the calls at work. That company is terrible.

I have had a few run ins with this firm.  They are calling on one of my work phone numbers.  They are saying that I have an outstanding account.  I have told them 3 times now, I want it in writing.  Both the charges and the payments of the account.  I have gone through a divorce and I truely do not remember this account.  I want to make sure it is something my ex wasn't suppose to take care of.  If it isn't that it has to be almost 20 years old. I pulled one credit report and nothing was on it,good bad or anything.
They have called my 75 yr old mom and told her to get a message to me about the pending legal matter before I get sued. I will pay the debt, if I do owe it, but can not come up with the 700.  I offered to make payments if I do owe it and that wasn't good enough.  I guess the next step is go to a lawyer but I really cant afford that either.  I am getting so worried and upset I dont know what to do.

Thanks for all the useful information everyone.  I just got a call from these guys on my cell phone.  When I first got the call I acted like I couldn't here the guy.  And the second time he called I remembered the phone and did not answer. So I'm just  not going to answer those calls.   But if I do I will for sure take the advice of what some of you said previously.

Thank You!

A call came from a Lawrence Hecker's law office claiming to need important info on a family member I had not seen in 20 years.  Claimed it was very important to reach this person if I could assist in finding them.

The person I spoke with was Ed Kennedy.  I cannot believe it is a collections agency and am disgusted that they would so parade as such.
