I recieved a letter offering a 30% pay off settlement. This was for a starter Credit Card from 2001 that I didn't get! My ex mailed in a bunch of pre-approved credit apps. Most of the more prominent companies released me from payment after comparing my signature to the one they had on file. First Premier and other sleazy companies have resold this debt at least five times. They continue to report it to the credit bureaus as a current debt, even though it is 11 years old! Why does the Federal government give them more power than the consumer? Why should we be hounded after 7 years of bad credit? Riding out the 7 years should expunge the record. Selling the debt shouldn't reset the clock. This is outrageous!

ALWAYS record every conversation with debt collectors. Inform them that you are recording., if they don't like it they can hang up and stop calling. Force them to abide by the FDCPA. Demand a letter of validation for any alleged debt. Refuse to pay any debt that is past the statute of limitation. If no debt is legally owned send certified letter to cease and desist contacting you. Research the FDCPA. File complaints against them with your state attorney and their state attorney, file complaints with the FTC. Sue for any violation of the FDCPA. Lawyers will take these cases on commission.

These people r disgusting! They have been harrassing me on a charge off from 2007. I admit I have the debt, due to financial hardship. I have spoke with 4 different employess from tate-kirlin in the past week and each one of them have been extremely rude, telling me to go behind my husbands back and use his bank account and steal money from my mom... just about anything so I can pay them! I offered them a settlement of all the cash I had on hand...they told me that they wanted 350.00 more than what I had and when I told them I couldn't do it, they told me to talk to my family members to get the money! I'm trying to settle this and they fight me every step of the way. I also would not give them my bank info and they got super rude with me and told me I could not pay them unless they had my bank info and could automatically withdraw it. I won't give it to them so now, they just continue to argue with me. Please help!! Any advice would help!!!! I offered them 1,000.00 today actually and they said they wouldn't take it and wanted 1341.00, no lower! How lame!!!!!!! I'm trying so hard to attempt and pay my bill. They seem so fishy...r they?

I have received phone calls for Dominick Zanerreli (sic) for 5 years.  This is in Northern CA.  I have told each of these bill collectors that he has never had this phone number, some have been outrageously rude.  Please stop harassing me I'm not him, get off your lazy butt and physically go to his address to collect your debt.

Be careful with these settlement offers. My advice is to make sure they are the right collection agency to paid money to. Call the credit card compnay and ask them who has your old debt. Then after you start making payments ask them to send you a letter stating the arrangements. I had been a victim of these people that make "settlements" that are not real.

Received a message on my machine at 9:53 (ET) today.  "This message is for ______________, my name is Andrew Dalton.  I need you to call me back at this number, 1-800-355-0333, ext 329."

I did not call back.  I would like to know who this is, as they used a former name, and my home number has been on the national do not call registry since the number was assigned to me.

For people out there receiving a call from 800-355-0333 with someone named STEVE GAINS, and calling about an unpaid load, please BEWARE and report the matter to your local police and the Federal Trade Commission.

Got a call from someone by the name Steve Gains working for this company called Tate and Kirlin Associates and charging me that I owe an unpaid loan and when I asked for proofs to validate his charges, the guy kept telling me wrong information.  Obviously, this guy had obtained my cellphone number and is creating a fraudulent charge and threatening me to be sued in court.

I really think this company should be shut permanently and throw every employee to jail.

they are a debt collection agency. They have repeatedly called me and left messages for someone else. I called and told them not to call as i am not the person they are looking for. They continue to call. My next call is to the AG's office.

I have received 10 or more calls from Steven Jacobs at something and Jacobs, Associates ext. 140. I do not have any outstanding bills or debts and yet they call up to two times a day.

I received a call from 2674070100.  They left me a message that stated my name.  I knew that I had cleared all of my debts, but I could have made a mistake.  Since the message said my name, I called the 1800 number back ext.323.  Every time I called nobody answered.  I left a message at ext.323 for Larry James.  He never returned my call. I said that I would not chase a debt collector.  On July 22, I received a call again from the 267 number.  I answered and the man spoke so fast that I could barely understand him.  He said that I owed money on a debt that I had paid off months ago.  He said that we needed to settle my account.  I said my account was settled months ago. He said that people tell him that all the time. He even gave the month of my last payment!!!   I told him that I was not paying anything and that I had a record of all my payments that were made.  He asked who I made them too.  I could not remember.  He gave me the 1800 number with ext.323 for a Mr. Webster!!!  How can two people have the same extension?????  Needless to say I checked with my account and it had been cleared and there was no debt.   These people need to be stopped!!!!!!!

Call came in as "Anonymous". Message left said it was Tate & Kirlin Assoicates.  Best thing you can do is use MagicJack phone number/account for all your creditors.  Then you can monitor their calls through your email, and it's on your terms not theirs. Eliminates all the solicitors too.

You do know that the settlement is even worse on your credit, and they weren't doing you any favors, right?  It means that the original debtor you owed was willing to take less money to clear the debt, or they considered you such a deadbeat they sold the debt for pennies on the dollar.

The fact they offered you a settlement does not reflect on them as a company, it reflects on you as a debtor.

I've just received my first phonre call from them.  I immediately did some internet research. It sounds as though they're pretty disreputable.  I just got done with another outfit hassling for money...a bunch of middle-eastern people wwhom I could barelt understand.  I finally went ballisti on them and haven't heard back (for a few weeks anyway).

I have gotten this call twice in the same week and I have NEVER even been late on a payment in my life!! I read some of the previous postings on these calls from others and it seems it's some kind of scam. I'm reluctant to call them back. Both calls were from someone named, "Mike Stan" (kind of a fishy name if you ask me)and he says, "I will wait 30 seconds to you are able to listen to this message in private"..bla, bla, bla. He talks very fast and unclear. I had to do a google search to even figure out what company he was from, b/c I couldn't understand him! After I found this blog page, I realized he was saying, "Tate & Kirlin and Associates". I don't see how I could be related to anything they are accussing me of!

This is a collection agency.  I ignore these on my cell phone, but they leave voicemails for a Vladimir somebody, I can't make out the last name. It says something like "If you are not this person, please hang up" then proceed to leave a detailed message "by continuing to listen, you indicate that you are Vladimir whatever and this is an attempt to collect a debt". Obviously a voicemail doesn't hang up until the caller does, and continues to listen although they are calling the wrong number. This is probably illegal.  Sometimes a toll free number appears instead in the caller id but it is the same thing.

I suggest going to their website http://www.tate-kirlin.com/ and clicking on "contact us". Slam them with messages like "you are calling the wrong person. Keep it up and I will report you." You don't have to put in your contact info unless you want to and it will still go through.  If anyone knows what government agency these people can be reported to or how to block this number please share.

The same here, they sent us a letter with the phone #'s (877)982-0001 and (267)407-0101. They offered us a settlement of 70% of your balance or $297.72 to resolve this dept.  I have no idea what this is about? I don't have any thing out standing.

So, regarding the settlement - did they send you documents legitimately showing that it was a settlement in the first place?  I asked for paperwork after they agreed to about 60%, and they got really aggresive because I wouldn't hand over my checking account number without seeing documentation.

They keep calling the office where I work as a receptionist, asking for someone who doesn't work here. I keep telling them not to call, but they still call every 2-3 days and harass me.

I got several calls from 2154644500, just to say "hold on a second", asking questions about identity, I you can hear typing something even without any answer from me. The person who call me named Hector work for company P.K.K. and the answer machine said ..... and associates.

Oh, we've heard from him just recently.

Don't know how he got our number - since he was calling about a family member - not me or my husband.  He is a bully and a liar!  

If you don't personally have any outstanding debts - ignore him!

If you do have any sort of credit problems, get in touch with the original company you owe.  DO NOT deal with these people.  Do a Google search and look at all of the info out there.
