Lying, fraudulent scum. All the posts on here claiming it is legit' are also lying scum. Even some of the ones urging you to call the number on the back of the card. They're simply trying to create a climate of legitimacy and hope people call the scam number anyway.

Here is the deal... if the number given to call is 1800 355 5265, it's a fraudulent, illegal, scammer scumbag.

Prank Call
This is how it works. They got my number from Google Phone 1st Flag (I never use it) & (Chase does not have the number). 2nd They send an email (fake of course) to prepare there scheme, so that, you ask yourself. Oh! They have my number AND email. Oh well it must be legit. But NO I called chase on the back of my card. (They suggested it.....persuading to think Oh! It is legit but NO. 3rd Flag, I called the Banking Center and they informed me that if there was to be Fradualent Activity on my card it would of been a Human Being NOT a Automated Voice! I asked him about the email and read it to him and the Manager said. Why would we (Chase) put in the email Copy & Paste from Email:

"E-mail intended for: My Name......., For your account ending in: 8752.

If you are concerned about the authenticity of this message, please   click here   or call the phone number on the back of your debit card. If you would like to learn more about e-mail security or want to report a suspicious e-mail,   click here .

Note:   If you are concerned about clicking links in this e-mail, the Chase Online services mentioned above can be accessed by typing   www.chase.com   directly into your browser."
They don't put " If you are concerned" or have any Links to report Fraud Activity! They indicate to call the number on the back of your card.

6/9/2014  **This is a real Chase number
I received a text message today on my cell phone as described above by other posters and a robo-call from a number that I did not recognize as a chase number.
I called the Chase customer service number on the back of my card and somehow after entering my personal id #, it bounced me to the same message I had heard from the robo-call.  I was skeptical and immediately hung up the call.

Then I went online and called the Chase Fraud dept from my home phone instead of my cell phone, just in case, and spoke to a rep.  She did confirm that someone tried to make two charges (Western Union & Mobile Germany) on my card in the past 24 hours which appeared suspicious which caused the red flag and resulted in the earlier sent text messages and phone call.
They mentioned several transactions in the past few days to confirm these were all mine, as well as the 2 which were suspect.  She said that as these were fraudulent, they will immediately cancel my card and send a new one to me in the mail.  She also said my checking acct would remain active, and I could pull out money as needed by going in any branch during normal business hours.

In summary, this call is LEGIT!

My husband's chase debit card was declined at Walgreen's.  We went home, checked online statement, didn't see anything unusual.  Next morning we got a call from this number. They verified a few transactions and no problem.  Yes, it's legit, we knew there was a problem of some kind before even receiving this call.  But if you feel uncomfortable just call the direct chase number and ask to be transferred to the fraud protection dept.  It's never a good idea to give out sensitive info if you didn't initiate the call.

Yes it's real! Just called, but I called Chase number on the back of card instead, and they said it was there's. I guess their departments have learned to communicate this. He told me to read the text message back to him. I had went to a gas station (full service) the Spanish speaking attendant didn't understand my zip code and put in the wrong one plus I was doing many online auctions the night before and the auction site somehow processed the wrong zip code too. So it flagged my account. They sent me a text and called with an automated voice on my voice mail. Haven't checked my email yet, but I bet it's there too! I got a text saying :Possible fraud. Did you just go to a fuel station? ----LOL!!

Even the Chase rep told me be careful you never know anyone could send you something claiming to be Chase. He connected me to the fraud department and they said that WAS  their number, or at least one of them I don't know if they use a few or just that one.  In my case I was just doing different transactions, but some other people on here really had their cards compromised so just call Chase directly and ask them to connect you to their fraud department.

Even if they were your actual transactions and not stolen, I think they eventually freeze your account if you don't call them back to let them know because they don't know if it really was stolen and it's better to be safe than sorry it benefits both you and them. You don't want to be out on the road with a flat tire, use your card, and it's frozen because you never responded to them! But always call your bank first because any old person could be texting and calling you claiming they are Chase

Turns out this was legit.  At first I was going to ignore after reading all these comments, but my paranoia got the best of me so I called the main Chase customer service number from their own website.  There were failed attempts at using my debit card in the past 24hrs (and I haven't left the house all day) and so they are cancelling my old card and sending a new one.

Whether you believe this is legit or not, only way to find out is to call the actual Chase number and verify.  Don't call back the suspect #, just call the number on the back of your card directly.  A scammer isn't going to tell you to call the main Chase number.

I called the number back and the automated system told me to enter the reference number from the voicemail. I immediately hung you call the number on the back of the card. Chase did make the call and inquired about a gas station charge of $150, which I did not make.

This number is authentic. I called the Chase number on the back of my card because of some of these posts; after typing in my card number I was immediately informed that there had been suspicious activity on my account and had to answer a series of multiple choice questions to verify my identity. Someone in California had attempted to buy $680 worth of merchandise at Target.

The number is real, and it is a SCAM! This is a high tech scam. Chase does own this number, however a high tech scam group is using it to cloak their real number. So when the call comes in you see the 800 number that chase owns. Meanwhile, the scammer is using the automated system, and or an operator. They are phishing for account info. Call the number on the back of you card, and report this activity  to Chase. When we called, they could not verify any of transactions the scammers said were taking place.

The Number is real, and so is this scam. This is a high tech scam. Chase does own this number. However it has been copied and will cloak the true phone number which is calling you. It is a phising scam. Call the number on your chase card to verify and fraudulent activity. Only talk to a chase representative, whom you contact. Do not call 1-800-355-5265. Your call will be re-routed back to the scammers.

Answer me this. To all the people posting here that this is not a scam. What are you even doing on this site? Why would you go to a site to see if a number was a fraud unless you were here to make people believe that its not a scam?. Only people who got the number and were concerned would be on this site. don't believe the bloggers saying that the number from chase is not a scam...When in fact it is..

I, too, received several calls from this number.  After calling Chase, I learned that several fraudulent charges had been made to my debit card.  Would definitely advise that you call Chase.  They will cancel your debit card and issue a new one.

NOT A SCAM!!!!!!!!!  We got a call AND text about a purchase.  I came here thinking it was fake and we ended up hanging up on the poor guy.  You people saying it's fake are idiots!!! We called Chase and they confirmed it was one of their numbers.  They simply wanted to make sure a purchase was actually done by us which it was.

Got a call from this number after ignoring a text from 33785. Called my bank after the text, they said it was fake. Then got the call from 800-355-5265 giving me a reference number of 494689. Called my bank again, they said this is a scam, they didn't call me, they didn't text me, and they know nothing about the charges mentioned in the text. They also have no reference number that matched the one from the phone call.
