Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

You can simply contact your MP/MPP for assistance.  They can verify who live in your household and who's not. How ?  Voters list. Almost every Canadian citizen over the age of 18 are on that list. They even got the address, phone number & date of birth of each individual. Unless the collection agency is looking for a person who is under 18 of ago or homeless, then you are out of luck.
Ask the name of the agency, name of the person(agent) who handle the case & the case number. Call your MP/MPP, ask him/her to contact the agency on your behalf. Trust me, most MP/MPP are willing to help. Cause you know, there is no free lunch. When it's election time, you know who you should give your vote to.
For people just want to block unwanted telemarketing calls. Please check out my post @386-233-3694

They are looking for someone and when I picked up to tell them they have the wrong number, the number of calls increased... This is rude and abusive, and should be illegal but judges and enforcement have their own rules... and nothing you can do about it.. what a wonderful world.

RBC sold your number. They say you owe money, give ALL your identification and contact and information to a collection agency, and they in turn have no qualms of selling your number to all the marketing people to recoup the money for the time they spend not collecting from you... or collecting from you. You cannot get rid of this infestation.

They've called me twice in the last two days, I haven't picked up. Anyone know how they get access to my number and know that I have an RBC Visa if they don't work directly for RBC?

I'm receiving these calls several times a day, 7 days a week and I'm litterally sick of it! How can this be stop once and for all. Apparently, it has something to do with RBC. I own NO RBC credit card. I'm about to find a way with my phone company in order to change my phone number so I don't get any other calls from these bastards.

The thing is that you do not need to have any credit products with RBC. If you ever had a student loan or any other product that you owed money one (and still might), that account might have been "underwritten"
by RBC, so their collections is calling you =(More likely the company who they sold the debt to).

Oh and all of you who say "They keep calling even though I paid my bills!"

The Canadian Credit Bureau has no way of knowing that. With all the late payments and scams it is your duty as someone who has agreed the the terms of borrowing money to simply call and have the settlement sent to your collection agency.

WOW! Not hard!

no of course they're not going to leave a message. I have many friends who work for collection companies. If they left you a message, 99 percent of you wouldn't call back, so they want to catch you unexpectedly. It's all part of the game. If you don't want credit calls, don't take out credit. It's simple!

lol anyone who thinks this is fraud is just plain dumb. It is clearly RBC's collections department which is controlled by a creditor called CBV Collections. They're legit. Pay your bills losers and stop making excuses!

I have credit card with them but I have no problems but it is paid on time

But they have been calling for weeks looking for another person on my phone exhange. I don't know those people they are looking for.
I have told them this 100 times and stop calling me. They stopped for a couple of weeks but looking for these people again

This is a big area, how would I know everyone.

So to be kind to try and help them and of course thinking it would stop them from clalling me,  I looked these people up in the phone book and called their number. its disconnected number and told them this. They apolized and stopped calling but now they are back at it looking for the same people.

How do I get them to stop  calling and using me as their detective. I have no idea who these people are they are looking for. I am a senior and don;'t like these calls even on Sundays and late at nite. Sometimes they call 10-11 Pm waking me up.

Very frustrating for me when I live alone. Now I am afraid of answering the phone late at nite. I keep thinking one of my kids is in trouble and need me that's why I answer but I won't any more.

I couldn't agree more. Their whole approach of not leaving a message with THE NAME OF THE COMPANY THEY REPRESENT means most of us will never answer the phone!

yep. I missed th 76 cents  I owed them with my last payment
They called looking for the 76 cents. Can you beleive it
Now I am looking at my statment and they changed me $8.43 for  missing this part of  payment

That is nuts. I have been paying them down as much as I can to get rid of them

They made last quarter 3.8 billion just on fees
Time we take these guys to court to stop all that. They did in the US what;s holding us back?

It's RBC collections looking for payments from your credit card.  It's legit, pay your bills to avoid it.

I answered the third call. No caller ID. Claim to be RBC and needed Visa payment asap. I`ve never been contacted by them concerning this in the last couple of decades. I never gave them any of my info except confirming my address.

This is RBC Visa Collections.

I know this because they screwed up royally (pun intended).

I had transferred all of my debts, savings, etc. to Manulife one, but left my RBC Platinum card with them with a balance of 11k on it.  I did that because I knew my next bonus check was coming in for 9k.

I paid off the 9k in one lump sum with the information that each payment would reduce the limit to first 2k, then for each month I would pay 400.00 until the balance was 0, the card would be removed, but by then I would have spent the points I had accrued.

So they did what I asked for the first month, but they accrued interest so I was >2k limit, then over 1600, 1200, etc.  Each month I was always over limit but under what they put in their system as minimum payment of 500/mos.

So what happened?  My credit took a huge hit.  It didn't matter that I had paid the Visa off, mortgage is paid off, etc.  All that mattered was it looked like I was 6 months late in payments.  I still get calls from this number because their system has not updated the fact that I have paid them off in full.

Basically don't trust anyone on this line.  The only way I got this fixed was by taking out an RRSP loan with my personal account manager.
