I just received a post card in the mail with the United Airlines logo, but only the word "United" on it. The only company name I could find was Travel Provider.  It gives the "impression" of free airline tickets to Hawaii and accomodations for two.  Looks and sounds like a SCAM!!!  You know the old adage, "Nothing in life is free and if it's too good to be true, it usually is"! Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware)!

YES. Big scam. The two "free" airline tickets are a bogus ploy to get you into their presentation. I have received a voucher to redeem this, and it is through another timeshare company called VIP. You have to send them $75 and select dates for your so-called free airline tickets and 45 consecutive date. It reads:

1. Please complete the activation form and mail it by certified mail to the address below. Please include a refundable deposit of $75.00 in the form of a money order or cashier check only. The envelope must be postmarked no later than 21 days from the Sponsor's issue date. Upon receipt, VIP Travel Reservations will mail you a vacation planning package which will include a reservation request form.
2. When you receive your reservation request form please choose your travel date allowing at least 60 days before your first travel request, and 45 days between each consecutive day.
3. This vacation offer provides 2 adults with airline tickets for flights within the continental US only (no flights to Alaska or Hawaii) and a $30.00 Darden gift card. To be eligible for this offer you must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid major credit card. We cannot guarantee that you can combine this certificate with any other vacation certificate. Airfare must be used together.
4. When your reservations are confirmed, VIP Travel Reservations will prepare and mail a written confirmation with your itinerary. Please note that while advance notice is recommended, correspondence is not issued until 15 to 21 days prior to your pickup date. It is important that you do not make travel arrangements until you receive your written confirmation. Gift card issued with confirmation of travel only.
5. You will be responsible for transportation to and from the airport, taxes, fees and any surcharges.
6. All bookings are subject to the availability of VIP Travel allotments. During peak season, conventions, and holidays a surcharge will apply. When VIP travel Reservations, Inc. allotments are full, VIP Travel Reservations reserves the right to substitute a different itinerary.
7. When you receive your reservation request you will choose the nearest major airport to your home as well as a destination city that has a major airport. Choose two different dates of travel allowing at least 45 days between dates. There must be a minimum of 4 nights between arrival and departure.
8. Cancellation policy: If you cancel a confirmed flight you will not be allowed to reschedule, nor will your $75.00 deposit be returned.

And there are 7 more rules that I didn't think were that important. Hopefully you get the point. There is no one who would do this for a trip. That's the point. It's a scam and they
know it.

I've contacted them to voice my complaints. Here are the numbers I have:

714-361-3102. Ask for Monroe and tell him Greg said hello. He didn't care one bit.

888-300-5319. Ask for Jeff and tell him I said hi also. Didn't care one bit.

They will try to sell you on a vacation package from 8 to 15,000. When you decline, TWO other members of the staff will lay a guilt trip on you and finally you'll be on your way. Funny how these people are always schmucks.

In a nutshell, GEVC is misrepresenting free offers to get you into there 90 minute presentation (which is more like 2.5 hours). They will make you feel so special it's like a cult. STAY AWAY FROM, GEVC and VIP Travel. You have been warned.

p.s. I'm the guy that won'y go away. I will post this on every forum I can find and I will even go hand out flyers in front of their building to prevent others from wasting their time and money. Watch me....

I just fell for this. I'm so mad at myself. I called and agreed to go to the open house this Thursday. I'm not going to go now that I've read all these responses, but I'm so annoyed they verified my mailing address and two telephone numbers for me.

Happy Birthday to me!  Yep. Same card came to me today. Of course, I was suspect, as these jerks have taught me to be.  But none of you sound p_ss_d!  I am really mad that these companies are getting away with this.  It is clearly false advertising and they should be held accountable.  I'm not done with this.  I'm going to look into what our options are.  I got another one yesterday threatening that our mortgage was going to start adjusting upward if we didn't call - all crap too.  I'm mad and "I'm not going to take it anymore!"

10/1/2009, received a similar postcard here in Sacramento CA.
US Airlines, two RT airfares anywhere in Continental US, seven-day Thrifty car rental (call within 48 hours)". Toll Free 1-888-792-7109. 1st Class Travel, 125 E. Baker Street, Suite 120, Costa Mesa, CA  92626. Call for details: M-F 8 am. to 7:30 p.m. "We've been going crazy trying to contact you!" is in capital letters and bold type. You must respond within 72 hours!" No, I don't plan to make that call. I have a wonderfully reliable papershredder that will reduce this postcard "offer" to exactly what it is worth.

I read up on GEVC - Global Exchange Vacation Club - tho it may be "legal" ... essentially from all the write ups on this company, they are shady at best and have been reported to TV call in complaints to websites such as this and Better Business Bureaus. The "free" gifts - you must jump through ridiculous hoops, certifying mail, no availability, over one year if you do stick with it to get your "free" gifts - pay "taxes" etc. Here are some links:

Yes it is now July 9 09 -

EXACTLY the same - go to Napa CA for the 90 min presentation: get a RT airfare - free car rental 7 day ANYWHERE ..  for me this raises a big big BIG FLAG as a SCAM ALERT. Believe me, I *want* this to be true as much as anyone but it IS NOT.

They wait til you go the "the 90 min. presentation" to get your VISA/Credit card - DO NOT GIVE THIS TO THEM!!

We already belong to a well-respected Timeshare that we have belonged to for >20 years and LOVE. I called them today (July 9, 2009) and they said they would never NEVER ask for a CREDIT CARD EVER at their 90 minute TIMESHARE presentations. ONLY later if you actually PURCHASE their timeshare. She said "I am so glad you asked ... this is NOT OK for them to get your credit card!" I said: Under ANY condition?? She said absolutely NOT.  voice I trust from our over 20 years at our reputable & wonderful timeshare.

They are smooth in that usual SCAMS want your PERSONAL/CREDIT CARD info right UP FRONT. This one seems willing to put it off - JUST a bit (although, they are NOT savvy - a decent Timeshare is  very organized and all #s link to each other. When questioned this one had many unprofessional moments - they were not clear, had no consistent "Confirmation Numbers".

Also, scams often have GENERIC NAMES AND WEBSITES. When I asked for their OFFICIAL WEBSITE WHICH ALL big COMPANIES should have - they gave me the website as "globalexchangeweb.com" - which there is none (and no website that is really even close to this).

Received Birthday postcard, come listen to our 90 minute travel seminar and receive 2 round trip tickets to use anywhere in continental US and 7 day Thrifty Car rental. (We just have to pay taxes on air line tickets and car rental. We were quoted 50 dollars tax on airline tickets and 75 dollars tax on car rental. We called back got recorded message They call again,  set us up with confirmation number.  Told us to bring pictue id and credit card or check book.  Told them, I am not giving them my cc numbers or bank account. Told me they wouldn't ask for it or make copies. Said good, cuz it won't be happening. Said yes, if we sit through their 90 minute presentation, we will receive airline tickets voucher and car rental.  Our appointment is THursday-25th of June. Will let everyone know how it goes.....I asked for their web site to look it up, after stammering, "Willi" said their web site for First Class Travel is being worked on but they share web page with Global Exchange Vacations. So I will report back, give everyone an update on if real vacation travel with a scam or not.

We received Happy Birthday letter for my husband and if we go to hear presentation in Napa, we will receive 2 round trip tickets to use any time in the United states, plus a rental car for 7 days with Thrify Car Rental.  We thought to fly to Maine to see our best friends.
Are we going to receive tickets and car rental?  Is this is a big scam?

I received a "Happy Birthday" postcard as well, with Southwest written on it, and the disclaimer. The first clue was the use of my maiden name. Glad to hear this isn't legit (well, not a fun vacay but an annoying timeshare spiel) because at first glance, it seemed pretty exciting (in these trying times, anything with even a hint of "gratis" sounds fun). Um, no thanks. I'll enjoy a nice staycation in my home of sunny California.

This is an RCI Time Share group trading and incorporated under the name
Global Exchange Vacation Club (GEVC).  Going to Hawaii or any where on their dime to hear a time share pitch is going to be an ugly trip unless you buy into their time shares.  Now that being said some time share promos are actually ok, if you don't mind the sales pitch. We did a Marriott Time Share at their new Lake Tahoe location (New and refurbished 3 years ago) and paid $99.00 per night for a wonderful suite, listened to their nonsense for 2 hours and called it a day. We are Hilton HHonors members and do the same thing for their grand vacations club to get points or dinners etc.  But these no name or anything to do with RCI you can count on it not being a glorious trip.

RCI has been around for a long time, and many people like their time share program. But two free tickets and FIRST class travel to Honolulu including accommodations? Not going to be a wonderful experience. Oh their latest Post Card scam is 1-888-300-4959 give your Aloha Number CN080926.

Received this quality white postcard with American Airline's logo all over it. In tiny type at the bottom of the pitch was the "not sponsored by...AA" disclaimer!
"First Class Travel" has arranged airfare(first class?) and accommodations(where?) for two to Honolulu for $100.
If it walks like a duck, smells like a duck, etc., it's a scam.
No call to 888 300 4959 from me.

From the start is smelled like time share, so I called and ask, "Is this time share?"  He said, "Oh, no we don't own any property, so we can't be time share."  So I asked again, " Are you sure this is not time share!"  I go the same BS.  I sail I'll call back, knowing I'll have to look this up in the internet.  Viola! I was right.  Another time share scam.

I just called this company back after hearing their "speech" over the phone.  I wanted to get enough information to check them out with the Better Business Bureau.  However, several things happened within the last 5 minutes have made it totally uneccesary to call anyone to find out this is a line of "you know what!"  First the guy calling who "congratulated" us gave us his "private" number because we wouldn't give him a yes or no right then and there.  The number he gave to me ended up being fake, and in fact, there was some weird 10-1-10-1 etc, etc, etc. number for the new "area code" that "Bill's" private number had been changed to. So I called the number back that was on the card and coincidentally "BILL" answered the phone again.  I questioned him a little only to find out that "OH, NO, we wouldn't have to waste any of the days in Hawaii to listen to their sales pitch.....they would have us drive about 100 miles from our house to listen to the "sales pitch" (no, he didn't use those terms, I did) and I told him that this would be impossible due to the cost in fuel....to drive from where we lived to Napa, Calif. and listen to a 90 minute speech was out of the question!  Plus I would have to spend the night there because I've had 7 back surgeries and to drive 100 miles there, sit for 90 minutes, and drive another 100 miles home would be out of the question,  "Bill" said "Oh, in that case we would give you a voucher for some gas or a voucher for lunch.  We would do something to offset your costs."  I said "Will you pay for us spending the night in Napa?"  He started to laugh nervously and said he was sorry but the "company" couldn't do that.  Then I asked if once in Hawaii could we extend our 3 days 2 nights, and use the return flight ticket to come home on?"  He said "Most of my customers ask me that and the answer is "of course."  "However there is a minimal fee, now don't quote me, but it's around $90 per person to change the ticket."  I thought to myself "hmm, not so bad with the cost of airfare right now."  Then I repeated what he said back to him and he changed the amount from $90 per person to $140 per person if we wanted to extend our stay and of course we could then stay at any hotel we wanted,"  I've been to every island you are able to go to so I know the names of the hotels.  I asked him what hotel would we be staying in.  He said "That all depends on what happens when you come to Napa"  AH HA!!!!  Now I remember this pitch!  Years and years as newlyweds we fell for one of these schemes and after sitting for 90 minutes then since we promised each other we were only going there for 4 brand new down filled sleeping bags, we finally got the guy to believe that we weren't going to purchase one of the timeshares, he then said "Ok, well go spin the wheel and see what you won"  I said "What?  Your information you sent to us said that we would receive 4 down filled sleeping bags for just listening!  I was getting more and more angry and started throwing around the fact my cousin is an Attorney, etc etc. etc.  And since when we spun the wheel and got 4 plastic cups.......there were about 20 places the arrow could land on for cups and a child's umbrella and one "sliver" of a spot that said "4 down fill sleeping bags"....I was raging by then!  PLUS, NO ONE saw the "spin wheel" it was in the back room out of sight.  My husband and I refused to leave....we got into our Van and pulled up in front of the door to the Sales Office and stopped everyone from going in there by telling them what just happened to us.....before you know it, one of the agents came and opened the side door and thru in the 4 sleeping bags and told us to leave.  We were laughing the entire way home, but promised ourselves we would never get into this mess again.  32 years have passed, and guess what?  We were stupid and called the number.  Thankfully, my mind is still in good shape and I remembered this entire sales pitch.  When "Bill" said he couldn't tell us which hotel we would be staying at, that it depended on "what" happened in Napa when we listened to the sales pitch....but he assured me that we could walk to the beach.  Heck anyone can walk to the beach even if they are staying in some dump 5 blocks from the beach!!!  I'm not going to check this out with the better business bureau because the comments on this page enabled me to see that in my opinion this is another "sleeping bag trick"  You go to Napa...IF you buy a timeshare you will get a nice hotel..if not you will get some Tiki hut in the center of the "Punch Bowl" in the middle of Honolulu, or on some raft where they launch you off the pier for your "sunset cruise!"  Thank you everyone for your feedback.  I hope everyone who gets this thing does some research.  Like someone said "If it sounds too good it probably is"  That's my opinion.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I for sure will not be calling this place back!  Honestly, I don't know how these people sleep at night.
