They called my phone a few minutes ago and as usual, I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.

The Attorney General in several states here in the USSA have filed and won lawsuits against the nefarious practices of this Company.  Most of the calls they make are to prepaid phones such as Tracphone. People who owe money and couldn't get credit use these phones a lot.

However, they are not the only ones using prepaid phones. If you're like me and don't use a cell phone a lot and want to keep your distance from the monopoly phone companies and their disgusting contracts and sneaky fees you would be using a prepaid.  Because it's a prepaid, the number you got probably belonged to a debtor that was reissued to you when you bought your prepaid phone.

Me too! They have called 2-3 times in as many days. Claiming I own $133 from an ATT bill ending Feb 2013, I havent been with ATT for over 1 yr now and closed my ATT accounts in full when cancelled, neer recived any thing in the mail. When I called them they where rude just kept asking how I wanted to pay and when I questioned them for more info, they either put me on hold, only to return asking and say the same thing, or they hung up on me.

The only update and additional info I have is that they now refer to themselves as "Enfield Collections".  Have been calling us for several YEARS looking for someone with same last name and refuse to accept the fact that this person is NOT related to us!

The collector either has a debt claim on you which is very faulty due to bad account data, or it's skip tracing for someone mixed up with you. Legally the agency reps can't say much until the alleged debtor is known to be speaking. Get off the phone and start a paper trail if you've not yet been dunned by mail.

Send a dispute and validation request if there's a chance you owe something, and if not you're free to send a full ''cease communication'' demand. Send all notices via USPS Certified with return card. See my comment from a year ago for the helpful FTC link.

I'm not sure I comprehend this awkwardly composed remark. When you're seeking advice about matters which could literally cost you thousands of dollars, or your vehicles, or your home, it's absolutely smart to always consider the source of information.

There are frankly hundreds of stupid, hazardous ways to fight debt cases and press FDCPA actions, all of which have a nasty habit of clogging casual search engine results. Frequently that bad advice comes from people who are paid to know better, such as mercenary paper-pushing lawyers with a greater interest in their cut of damage awards than actually writing sensible pleadings or guarding your rights.

This is a major reason I tend to point straight to the laws and regulatory materials, so that people can start their homework at places where nobody has a dog in their race.

They are required to send a notice in the mail within 5 days of first contact and you do not have to ask for that.  Then you have 30 days to send a request for validation of the debt. Type your name, don't sign it or provide your SSN. When you send that request also say receiving their calls at any number (list the numbers) is always inconvenient and they may only contact you by mail.  Send that certified mail return receipt requested and keep the card, when you get it back, with a copy of the letter.  If they call you after you get the card you can sue.

Frequent calls from this # with wrong information about me.I have no idea how they got my # and they never give me an answer because I didn't "verify the information they gave about me". For example, the caller will either have my first name and last name but a completely different address for me or DOB. Please help I'm being harassed.

Whatever the site may be, don't you think its eventually anything that helps the consumer-in any way?FTC  or some other thing-anything has to help the consumer under legal rights, as long as that purpose is served, do we have to vent?

I think rather than filter through a law firm's promo site one should first see the laws at the source. Many times consumers don't need their hands held by profit-seeking pinstripers to ward off abusive collectors.

NCO making calls before a written request for validation is sent violates FDCPA. Rather than wait around and send more letters, Kat could have filed suit, provided her DV letter was sent USPS Certified with return card. If all she did was make verbal requests, she would not have much of a case.

They have a very malicious reputation for a debt collecting agency. They collect on delinquent debts, so its either the wrong people or people who don't owe a debt at all. If they are calling too many times and at uneven times you can report them. Know your rights and be cautious.

If they are calling from outside your state then you can file a complaint with the federal trade commision. I have done it before with other scam companies like this one.

Getting calls from this number, from 866-242-0064, and unknown number.  In total there are usually 3-4 calls a day from one of these numbers.  If the first call is from the unknown is is shortly followed by the 800 or 866 number.  Searched this number and found it to ba a collection company and my credit is clean.  I refuse to answer the phone after I read the info on them.

NCO calls me from several different numbers.  I no longer speak to them.  By law I am entitled to written verification of the alleged debt, and they have agreed to provide me such verification - well it has literally been MONTHS and I have yet to receive it, but they still harangue me constantly about it.  Until I can verify this debt, I will not be talking to anybody from there; because so far they have ignored my repeated requests for written verification.  I am about to send out a Cease And Desist letter, which I assume they will ignore as well; and this would be a good thing, because then I can file harassment charges against them.

Got two calls from this number. The first was just a recorded message. The next one was a person. I called back and gave the confirmaiton number they left.  She told me that I owed some outragous amount on an account I closed out. I knew right then and there that something was not right. So I asked her to send me written documentation of this outstanding amount. I was informed that I would have to go back to the company I had the account with and get that information. I told her that I would take this up with the company and any future calls from them would be considered harrassment.

I called the company right away and found that I did indeed owe them nothing. This place is a scam!!! Watch yourself.

These guys have been calling me for a long time. I answered the first few times but have since stopped. Found a very helpful article on NCO Financial Systmes here: http://tr.im/NCOcrap

Luckily my phone company lets me block incoming phone numbers so that will be my next stop.
