I received a few phone calls from this number in the past 2 days.  They said they are from the Citibank Verification Center.  They asked me to verify my address and phone number.  I told the heavily accented woman that I do that online through my account.  She seemed to get very frustrated with me.  I honestly believe that someone hacked into the citi accounts and retrieved all of the information or citi sold our information.  I got online to check my account information and my phone numbers were all different.  Needless to say I changed my password and have been keeping a close eye on my bank account since that information is saved.

I recvd a door hanger and called Citi.  I was told I got the notice because they have not heard from me.  Honestly I was scared because I know I can't pay. I am about to go into foreclosure and was given a lot of information on options they have that can help me! THANK YOU CITI!

Received a call and said "This is Citi. I am calling to verify some security information with you about your account and this call will be recorded". I asked "How do I know you are Citi and why should I give you my security information? Give me your phone number and I will call you back".
Left the number: 1-800-374-8814, Ms. Lory. But when I called back, was asked to input my securify information before I could talk to anyone! Why should I input my security information before I know who you are?!

Received a call and said "This is Citi. I am calling to verify some security information with you about your account and this call will be recorded" from 636-261-2484 but asked to call back 1-800-374-8814 (background noise sounded like someone's home). When I called back, I was told to enter my account # and/or ss# to proceed. I didn't. The woman asked for the same information and said she couldn't confirm why I was contacted without the information. When I continue to aske questions about providing the information, she hung up on me. Another red flag, they called me on my cell # - a number I don't give out to accounts.

These people keep calling our office asking for someone we have never heard of.  When we ask to stop calling they hang up.  When we ask to talk to a supervisor we get put on hold and then hung up on.

Received a call at work on 3/16/2010 on my work land line, from 800-374-8814 - I could see the number of this incoming call.  I didn't answer it because I'm at work and didn't recognize it.  The caller did not leave a message.  Instead, he/she promptly called my CELL phone!  Again, I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  Reputable callers always leave messages. I don't trust this phone number.

Received call from 1-800-374-8814.  Claimed to be from Citi Student Loan Service, heavily accented.  Proceeded to request address, e-mail and phone number.  Proceeded to hang up like I was running from a Nigerian prince.
Called the real City Student Loan 800 number who reported 1-800-374-8814 is a number belonging to Citi Debt.  So according to Citi, the number is legit, but don't forget there are spoofers, line-hackers, and shady overseas support centers.  Never give your information to anyone over the phone!

This is a classic example of spoofing over the phone with some Nigerian.  The Citigroup Mortgage number that shows up on the caller ID is a real Citigroup number, however, its not Citigroup calling.  Spoofing has been going on for years via email.  Now, spoofing is occurring more often via phone with some live Nigerian.  What is more disturbing is how apathetic the "real Citigroup" is when reporting this type of spoofing.

I received a call on my cell phone where a heavily accented male said that he was from Citi Bank Student Loans...he was asking if this was an ok number to contact me by. It was my cell which student loans does not have, he claimed it was found from a web search. I had taken a semester off from school due to health problems of my child so I am actually late on a couple of payments because the in school deferment is not active so I did not think much of it at first. But once updating my address with the guy I remembered that Citi mails me things all of the time, why would he have my old address? I feel someone who worked in a call center for Citi at some point sold my info and there is now a scam being ran with the old info so they call to get it updated. Citi wonders why they are going under, they need to stop outsourcing. I called the number back and it claims to be Citi Mortgage. I went to Citi Mortgage website and contacted them to report the activity.
